i just have my nose and ears done, but i should be getting my tongue (secretly) done soon!
I have my ears(not sure how many....I don't have enough earings for all holes used to be 8. 2 at 2 guage, 2 at 10 uage and the others normal size) and septum. I then have four tattoos: one a teddy panda bear on a noose on my right shoulder blade, two a water blob colored like fire with the chineese symbol for crazy in it on my spine , three blue flames around my right ankle and four the static-x symbol on my neck.
I also had my eyebrow, my belly button and my tounge pierced but took them out for various reasons. My tounge was actually double pierced with one at 6 guage.

i guess piercing anywhere other than the 'normal' places is still considered quite extreme. one girl i knew had bars through her wrists and the fatty parts of her hips. they were amazing to look at but she must have had to be really careful when dressing/ undressing. i still catch my belly bar sometimes and it hurts like buggery.
everyone has seen my stuff before - i have a tattoo on my right arm, my navel pierced and i did have the top of my ear done but it never healed properly (i left it in for a year) so i took it out.

the wrist sounds neat che, but i'm too clumbsy i woudl so rip them out by accident. i do like the idea of permanant bracelets though.

I cannot emphasize this enough! Guys do NOT use any jewlery other than cuff-links! Please, guys! Stop piercing places outside your face! It's not supposed to be done!
Erm,.. So every guy in the whole world is going to stop, take out their piercings, take off their braclets/necklaces just because you told them to?
I really don't think people are going to stop and listen to your rubbish.
I mean - i respect anyones opinion on the matter but to say,..
Also, it's pathetic.
is really pushing it a bit too far.
Now think before you say something as personal as that about someone in the future.

A friend of mine had the back of her wrist done. it stays in for about 6 months then leaves a nice long scar. not very pretty :( i wouldnt advise arm piercings to people, simply becuase there's so much chances of them catching/ripping and they leave nasty scars.

Other than that, good thread, lots of happy wannebes here. (I'm serious about the good thread-part.)
what is the point of trolling in this thread. it is an appreciation thread not a do not do this thread. you will not find many friends here like that. and who are you calling wannebes? you seem like a wannabe funny person who keeps faililng.
the whole point of piercing and tattoos is self expression, don't let one troll disuade you if you really want a piercing. anyway this thread is about celebrating your piercing and tats, so please carry on.
oh and mr jones, i was thinking actually the underside of my wrist. i've seen people with tats there, but i can only imagine the pain is intense. i'm more likely to get another hole somewhere. still debating on one of thise bars through the top of my ear or my nipples or both.
I think someone needs to learn the difference between fact and opinion. I'm thinking of (if I get more money then I expect) getting a bar code on the inside of my wrist that say (instead of numbers) "fuck off" on Friday. If not then, then probally after another pay check (2 more fridays).

i too love symetrical piercings - i think it's right that people look balanced.
personally i really think i'm over piercings. they can be so painful and infected and they can rip out. i'm into tatoos now - permanent (so you have to think them through especially if you're thinking of getting something offensive) but much less hassle.

personally I don't see the point of piercings at all, but if you want them, hey, that's your choice.
However, there is one thing that I feel the need to rant about. A while ago I noticed a lot of people where having massive hollow rings put into their earlobes, kinda stretching them and then when it has stretched the earlobe they put bigger ones in, so people were going round with inch wide holes in their earlobes? Why?! Bloody wierdos.

I personally am not into piercings (I've only ever had my ears pierced and I let them close over!) but I don't have a problem with piercings, in fact I am very interested at the moment in body modification, which incorporates many things such as ear-lobe stretching, scarification (from branding or incision), neck stretching etc. Most of these practices are hundreds if not thousands of years old, from ancient tribal cultures from throughout the world so I think it's nice to see them being brought back into more mainstream western society and being mixed with new techniques such as subdermal teflon implants, pocketing or skin corsetry, dental modification and various cosmetic surgery. It may look weird, but I personally find it highly interesting and would love to be trained in many of the techniques.
Ummm...you called people who stretch thweir lobes wierdos first. Thats rude, especially in a "holes and ink" thread. It's not the fact you were disagreeing probally as how you disagrees (in a rude way)

I think some piercings are cool, eyebrows, ears stuff like that. I just don't really like any body flesh piercings or any of that ridge business. However, if people like it then that's fair enough, everyone has their own taste.
Once I get use of my mom's camera (mines not good enough) I shall show you all my one and a half eyebrow piercings. I have two top hols and one bottom obt, must've poked a new on all the way through at some point while trying to get it in after having to take it out for work (which I haven't done in a few days).

Why? God, why? My point is, people have piercings because they think it makes them pretty. Much in the same way other people wear bracelets and fancy rings. This, however, is not pretty. I'm sure even the most hard-core piercer will agree. The only reason to have them... installed is the shock-factor.
I don't think I will ever understand.
PS: This is not a bad post, neither is it insulting in any way, so I will be fairly upset with anyone who rewards this post with a minus merely due to a difference in the way we see things in life.

i quite like it poopa, looks really cool.
I have a question..
Why?
Why would you want implants in your eyebrows or spine thingys down your arm?
I don't understand
some people do it for the looks, some people do it for the wtf factor, just to be shocking. people that do some of hte more extreme body mods do it for themselves. they don't care you think it looks weird or horrible. asking why is a very personal thing for everyone.
my peircing isn't extreme, but still inspires a lot of people asking me why and did it hurt. just about anyone will tell you it didn't hurt or it hurt, but not bad. and the adrenaline afterwards is such a rush. that's why peircing is so addictive. the little bit of pain doesn't detract from the rush afterwards. the contrast of pain and adrenaline high is the basis for soem people's body mod, that's why you get scarificatino and cutting because they can relive the pain/pleasure over and over again.
i personally got my piercing because i really didin't like a scar i had near my eye and eyebrow. someone hit me and slammed my head into a desk. i have stitches. i have always hated that scar. it was a daily reminder that i put myself in that situation. yes i shouldn't feel responsible for someone else hitting me, but you really try to take that thougth out of my head, it's not easy. so every day i look int he mirror and i see this scar. so i got the piercing. it's my way of taking back the scar and making that eye special. i love my brow piercing.
so yes, most people with a piercing have very personal reasons. yes there are some people that get them for the "omg i'm drunk on spring break and i'm such a rebel !!!!!!one!!!" but those people generally take them out after a year or so.

Also, I just think that having bands is a bad idea because you may go off them and in old age I doubt you want a bunch of masks scrawled on your back. I may be wrong and this is only my opinion.

Anyone on here have either of those? If so, what were they like and how long did they take to heal up?
I seem to take forever to heal piercings, my tragus took almost 5 months and my helix took almost 7 months. Apparently its because I scar easily and dont bleed very much, or so my piercer said....

I think I'm pretty much decided on the content of my left arm full sleeve project, which will be what I get done after my left leg is finished (got a navy themed piece for it) - Think giger, but with a Zebesian twist... A full sleeve based on the game that sent me down the course I'm on today... Super Metroid. w00t. Samus vs ridley on the bicep and going down to the forearm, metroids here and there, with the occasional zebesian critter and a lot of funked up landscaping... I think for something like this, I'll be going to Immortal Ink or Woody's Studio... Choices, choices!

Okay. The swelling in my lip started to go down on Saturday, but on Monday morning I woke up and it was enormous. So big that the skin was starting to cover the flat backs of the studs. I've heard horror stories about embedding so I went to the piercer and got longer jewelry. The skin isn't covering the backs anymore but they're still kind of.. sinking. Also, this swelling refuses to let up.
I had an extra course of antibiotics that a doctor had given me relatively recently for something else, but I never took them. I started taking them just to ward off anything that might be trying to start; although I don't believe the lip is infected. There's no pain or anything, just really bad swelling.
I ran out of the special mouthwash the piercer gave me, and the store I went to didn't have the same kind so I started using a different alcohol free mouthwash. I think it was soon after that my lip got really bad. This is the only cause I can think of, since I'm still using that mouthwash and the swelling won't go down. I'm going to try going to a different store and getting the original kind. The only other thing I can imagine is that I slept on it really weird and it hates me for it now.
So other than drinking a lot of water, chewing ice, taking ibuprofen, and not eating razor blades, any tips?

That may have been an sbscess, the TCP would have dried that out but it's still not recommended you use TCP on it. Sushi's problem doesn't sound like an abscess.
Sushi, maybe you should try leaving it alone for a day or two, no matter how much I go to my piercer he always says LITHA, meaning leave it the hell alone. Sometimes doing nothing is the best thing for a piercing.

I have no idea what TCP is. Will try salt soaks, though. I bought more of the mouthwash the piercer gave me, it's called Biotene.
And I am now leaving it alone, as before I was worried it was embedding so I kept pushing the stud inward from the outside. I'm sure that was just making my lip angry. Then I read an article that said it was normal for the skin to come up around the edges, and that skin would die off eventually. I'm starting to see a little bit of the bar from the outside, so my swelling must be going down a tad.

TCP is a mild antiseptic, produced and sold in the United Kingdom by Pfizer. The brand name comes from its chemical name, which is trichlorophenol. The liquid form of TCP is one of the most well-known brands of antiseptic in the UK, and its distinctive sweet, medicinal odour can be identified by many as the generic smell of antiseptic. (Wiki)
It's the best selling brand of atiseptic here and it smells rather nice.

When I had mine done it was like this, you could definatly see the lip tissue almost engulfing the stopper at the back. Mine has turned out to be absolutly fine I just left it alone and used salt water in and outside the mouth. I definatly don't think it's embedding itself and fussing about it probably won't help the swelling go down.
Just needs a bit of time :)
At least in my experience!

An antiseptic sold in the UK won't help me. ;P But, it says on the aftercare sheet not to use a whole list of things, though, and that sounds like it'd be one of them...
I switched back to the milder mouthwash and have been leaving it alone and the swelling is definitely going away. My lip is almost back to normal size instead of being Angelina Jolie sized.

Mrs Spoo's ink is fantastic. Where was it done Spoo?
It turns out the side of my lip is still pierced, despite the fact I didn't have it in for particually long, and it's been out for at least 8, 9 months. I think I'm going to get a ring for it tomorrow.
Does this not seem weird?
(I learned this because I was playing with a paper clip and pocking it at the scars I have from my lip piercings.)

It's certainly a long way from Dude's 23rd piercing but I'm getting more ear piercings in a couple of weeks. I only have a single pair but I'm getting another pair on the outside of these. I was thinking about maybe getting a piercing at the top too, so I decided I'd ask a couple of questions to those in the know -
-Will it hurt a lot?
-How much (roughly) would it cost?
Thanks for any help :)

That was the first piercing I got besides my ears. It depends on your pain threshold and who pierces it for you I guess. Mine didnt hurt that much but it did bleed a little. It was more painful brushing my hair and acidentally catching it.
Mine cost me £20 and took about 10 mins to do because I had a guy who was training. Dont skimp on the aftercare because cartilage takes longer to heal up that earlobes. Mine migrated a little and isnt lined up properly all because I bathed it for a week and figured it would be OK. One major infection later....
After I donate blood in May, I thought I would treat myself to a new piercing as a "well done on complteing your first year of teaching". I was thinking of a snug :) I know that ones going to hurt a bit more though!

Bought horseshoes on a whim (they were cheap) to see how I liked them. I find them to be more comfortable than the labrets, actually. Though the temptation to play with them is far greater, and the diameter on these is too big. I think I will get rings of a smaller diameter.

(It's surprisingly hard to take a picture of your own ear.)
Smartie, you were right - it didn't really hurt that much. Just felt really strange, especially when he put the earring in. And it certainly does hurt when you catch it >: I got it done on Monday so it's still pretty tender.
I've been looking on stuff about aftercare, nowhere makes some parts very clear - when you clean it, how much should you move the earring? I understand it needs to be moved to work the stuff into the wound but I'm worried about overdoing it because obviously that would just slow the healing process.

I'm sorry about this, but I think that's fairly hideous. Good job it's not on me, right?
thing is I've been dying to get a tattoo for ages. But I don't see the point of getting little tiddly ones, I want one that will make an impression, but you've got to find a balance, something striking that won't make you sick after a week.
When I got my lip pierced, it had been after almost a year of consideration, considering it's in such a visible place, but now it's so much a part of me that I don't think I look right without it. I want that kind of relationship with any tattoos I get...
I guess I'll just keep considering.

coloured in stars might make it look too solid?
i like it how it is...hollow stars look good contrasting with the thick main bits (i dont know what to call it...branch?)
I was thinking maybe blending black to skin from the outside of the stars, that way they could be neatened up round the edges and still be hollow. I lke them hollow too.
I can bear with the bigger of the stars, but the smallest one is too much of a mess. people will laugh :( Im dissapointed because this guy did my other 4 tattoos and did a brilliant job, so i wasnt expecting this really. I'll probably go to someone else to get it sorted.

I've been doodling all over the place drawing tattoos I might consider getting at some stage. I've tried a few different designs, with varying complexity, style, and size, and it's funny how I still come back to this one as being my favourite:

I wanted to ask peoples opinions about something I came across today.
For those who dont know, I teach in a secondary school and have a few piercings here and there. I consider myself to be fairly open minded about any sort of body mod if its done properly.
Into my lesson today strolls a year 7 sporting her new nose piercing that she got for her 12th birthday. Any facial piercings are against the school rules, you are allowed one set of studs in your ear lobes. I sent her out and refused to have her in my lesson because I disagreed with it. It was done on Saturday but was starting to look red and infected, plus she said it was free. If you are over 16, get it done by someone who knows what they are doing and look after it - awesome. But she is 12! Thats way too young to be looking after something like that!
Was I wrong? Or am I now a complete hypocrite???

Tweekish - I think you were completely in the right. Apart from anything else, it is the school rules, which as a teacher you have to follow. Then there is the fact that she shouldn't have a facial piercing at that age anyway. I know that if I was a teacher (and all things permitting I will be in a few years) I would do something similar.

Well Tweekish, if you're looking for some morbid satisfaction, from what you said she clearly isn't taking proper care of it. So she'll probably spend the month with some horrible infection then come back to school without the piercing after the holidays.
On a slightly related note, am I alone in the thought that nose piercings are pretty gross? To each their own of course, but I've always disliked nose piercings. They just seem too unclean to me.

I don't think someone should be denied education just because they have had their nose pierced. Refusing to teach someone because you disagree with something they have done is wrong in my opinion. There should be a discipline procedure for dealing with students that breach school rules but the punishment should fit the crime and there should be compromise.
So yes I think you were wrong and that perhaps you school policy is wrong, but it's nothing personal :D

Refusing to teach someone because you disagree with something they have done is wrong in my opinion.
I refused to teach her because she was breaking the school rules, just like I send away any pupil wearing trainers, jeans, tracksuits and heavy makeup.
I kept my personal dislike of this to myself because its not my place to tell her what to do with her nose :D Its the fact that she did this when she is so young, I very much doubt that she is going to take care of it properly and clean it twice a day for months.
What I do very much disagree with is the fact that she was suspended for a month because of it. But its not my place to quibble with what the boss says, otherwise I tend to find myself sans job!
EDIT - Spoo, this could be an interesting debate. Perhaps we should start up a thread in Debates and see what other people think?

I know what you mean about large pictures and stuff, I meant like a small word, or something because basically this is right:
Yeah, bad tattoos are basically a bummer, right? But they're also pretty much a rite of passage for bored and disenfranchised-feeling teenagers the world over. At least it was for about 95% of the people I know. Going to a reputable tattoo shop and getting a wizard or unicorn drilled into your lower back is totally fine, but nothing really takes the place of sitting around with a bunch of friends and some beers, enthusiastically taking turns poking each others' arms full of bad ideas-which actually is fun at any age.
It's easy-anyone can do it (even teenagers, who, according to recent scientific tests, don't even have fully functional brains). You probably already have all the materials you need at your disposal, and best of all nothing shows true fortitude of character quite like learning to live with a bad decision.
Now I'm not saying "Hey everyone let's go be badass!" I'm saying experimentation with all sorts of things is the way we grow up, and learn. We learn best from experience. I have some shitty scar on my arm from the drunken experience last night, but it will fade. But the point is you only live life once, so satisfy your desires, rather than waiting. And then if it fucks up, invest in a fake ID and get it covered up by something good. Life is not about just pootling through not doing something because an inhibition you learnt off someone else tells you not to.
Mind you I think Baabaa and funkymunky are right, considering what was meant to be A.C.A.B came out as a random sqiggle, mostly just scar and very little ink. Choice is strange. Because I would never take back doing it, but I believe you guys are right.
Moosey
22-08-2007, 02:50 PM
You see, I got immensely confused because I thought you meant drawing on your arm in pen, not actually tattooing it  I supposed you're in a way right, but you have to be careful whatever you do. I know tons of people who do their own piercings (and get them infected in the process half the time) but never people who tattoo themselves

You see, I got immensely confused because I thought you meant drawing on your arm in pen, not actually tattooing it  I supposed you're in a way right, but you have to be careful whatever you do. I know tons of people who do their own piercings (and get them infected in the process half the time) but never people who tattoo themselves
I do my own piercings too, but I have only ever kept one. I don't think I am going to DIY tattoo again. Although I know quite a few people who have done it.

I got myself a scaffold piercing toady and I just knocked it and now it's bleeding excessively. Will post pics when its settled down a bit.
Typing this with one hand while I try to stop the bleeding.
After I donate blood in May, I thought I would treat myself to a new piercing as a "well done on complteing your first year of teaching". I was thinking of a snug :) I know that ones going to hurt a bit more though!
Doesn't hurt that much, but, it's a fucking pain in the ass. I had mine done twice, both grew out, the first one grew out in 2 weeks, the second grew out after 3 months. They are the most painful things to take out, ever.
Since the last visit to this thread, i've gone and got some custom jewelery and have a speshul orbital :D

I'm thinking of getting a couple more cartilage piercings under my current one, just thought I'd ask: is it sensible enough to get them both done at once (bearing in mind they're in the same ear), or would it be worth waiting for one to heal before getting the other?
Judging by how much the last one hurt and oozed in the first couple of weeks I'm inclined to get them one after the other, plus I'm shit scared of them migrating into each other. Maybe I'm just worrying a little too much.
Anyway, the verdict?
I've had cartilage done close together at the same time and it was fine, but oozed like an absolute bitch. I'd say do it seperately.

Yeah, I was kinda worried about cleaning in between the two piercings because they're so tender in the first few days and it would make for a bit of a nasty buildup.

Mittwoch, it'll be fine to get 2 done at the same time. Done it plenty of times. As long as there are 2 separate bars/bcr's then it'd be fine. Might as well get both done and have the pain for a few months rather than have that same pain for double the time.
Industrial piercing guy, that looks painful. Bar looks too short.

Apart from the initial bleeding it's been pretty comfortable. The bar feels fine.

You should have a little bit of room to let it move around though, to accomodate for swelling and cleaning.

That is true. I'll go see my piercer and see what she thinks.
