Are you in a band? if so what kind?
i'm in a punk/ska band but we've had lead guitarist problems.

I don't have much musical talent that's worth showing to an audience. They wouldn't appreciate spoon playing much.
I prefer to listen. :D

Your band have a website?

I am a songwriter/guitarist in an indie band called Ullla (www.ullla.tk)

I have a website but it sucks so much that just looking at it promotes suicide... luckily it's free.

*bump*

i'm still interested in people who are in bands... especially if you can give us some mp3's to listen to

My band Ullla is busy making new recordings:
I'll be posting some early versions here, you'll be one of the first to hear.

our newest song (http://twc.sshunet.nl/~djstronk/ullla/mp3/waitingfortheday.mp3), it's a emotional ballad with an intense ending. It reminds me of some songs of The Frames.

please let me know what you think, and post some of your own work. Any style and genre is welcome.

I myself am not in a band, but a group of friends are.
They're called the midnight crazies and three of the songs from their demo are at Cornerband (http://www.cornerband.com/html/bandPage/bandPage.asp?band_id=1031254) They're a sort of hardcore ska band with a bit of punk (The Clash style) thrown in. Sort of like Capdown but more mellow. I like it, and you should too :P

PoofBird

that's pretty good, not your average ska...

I listened to left for dead.... starts out klezmer-like, has a bit of metal near the chorus, and some real punk influences.

It's not a song that stays in your head, but would be very great to see live at a gig. I'd pay to see them.

the music is very well played, but it needs some backing vocals,

GorillaBearBear
31-10-2003, 10:51 PM
Yeah, I think you're right about backing vocals. My favourite off that is Special Needs. But on the demo I have there's a really cool Reggae style choon. I'm seeing them live in a week, hopefully they're as good live as they are on tape, but they should be better. In my opinion ska/ hardcore is a genre that lends itself to live performances, like Rock and or Roll

I'm KINDA in three bands. My two piece band, who have unoffically supported Raging Speedhorn (http://www.ragingspeedhorn.co.uk), who are called Cruel To Be Kind (http://www.angelfire.com/alt/crueltobekind/index.htm)

The second band, who so far consist's of Justin Sane, Rabid Anarchist, someone else and I, have not played together as of yet, but I have come up with some good riffs so far. Our working name is One Day, You Will Thank Us (http://www.angelfire.com/alt/crueltobekind/dayindex.htm)

My third band, which is more of a project of mine, which so far has a bassist who I knew through my guitar teacher and myself. We have not jammed recently, but my playing is getting better all the time. She's such a good bassist, it's unbelieveable :D

we consist of 2 guitarists 3 bassists 1 drummer 2 guys on triangle 1 guy on accordian 1 guy hitting a bucket.

as i said were all failures and none of us can really play.

we want to one day get a record deal as we believe we can rival some of the crap which sells so well at the moment.

demo discs have been sent to many record companys but no replies yet.

well I'm not really in a "band", but there's like this thing at one of my friends' school and each year they have like this thing where everyone can just play shit if they want. so me and a few other blokes are gonna play some shit there. it's gonna be just muse covers..which rather sucks although I love them of course...but I'll just do it anyway, for the experience..
we do have a rather genious guitar player though..not only can he sing and play the most difficult shit imaginable at the same time..which is just so difficult, I've tried it, sux.. but he can even lie his ..fuck.. mouth thingie..sortof makes a stupid noise..anyway he lies that "thing" down on his bed, than while he's playing guitar he'll sort of lie down and play that thing while playing guitar and the amazing thing is that it actually sounds good :)

such a long story for so much bullcr*p :)
anyway did I mention I am a really bad bass player? no really I am..although opinions vary over how good I am, I usually have to convince people that I do suck..

I'd love to :) but seeing your location I think that'd be a bit of a problem as I live in the lovely city of Delft in the netherlands.. (yes we have legal drugs here, no I won't send you any) if you're ever around though, feel free to come over :)

good man! ah legal drugs, its what music is all about if you think about it, i may pop round next year on my gap year and we can jam in some weird and wonderful way.

I used to be in a melodic Punk band. I was the singer (and I use that in it's loosest possible way), and as far as I was concerned we were pretty damn good. Sadly, we only played 3 gigs before our guitarist decided that he didn't want to play music for a while. And fair play to him, if your heart isn't in something, there's no real point in doing it. He was kinda the soul of the band, too. He came up with the songs, everybody else would just work their bits in between his (quiet you). So without him, there was no band.

No hard feelings, though. We're all still good mates.

I am the guitarist and general multi instrumentalist for a three piece band going by the name of Lantern, based in London...

Our ~temporary~ site is found HERE (www.angelfire.com/alt/lantern/)

Most of the artwork is done by myself and our drummer, but the site's by no means perfect. We don't take it amazingly seriously, we don't expect others to. We take our music seriously though.

I'd like to stipulate that our drummer is amazing, but hasn't played a single beat on any of our demos on the site, since he lives in Oxford and we record in London, and lugging a drumkit on the train isn't a practical thing to do... so he's turned into something of a multi instrumentalist too...

Still. We might end up naming our drummachine 'Echo' ;)

Newest song on the site is Z for Zacharia. Kinda twitchy and brooding.

I really liked Fireflies, it reminded me of Maria McKee's 'If Love is a Red Dress (then Hang me in Rags)' from the Pulp Fiction OST. Only much more fun :) You guys sounded like you were enjoying yourselves doing that :D

I was the guitarist/songwriter in a 5 piece college rock band two years ago - Dead Next Door.
Played a couple of gigs around glasgow.
Now i'm in a band (well really just a duo @ the moment) called
Twitching * Finger.

I got mp3's on
mp3.com (http://www.mp3.com/twitching_finger)
if anyone wants to listen.
They're kinda rocky acoustic pop stuff.

I did the first two using cubase in my college.
The last one is a shitty studio version fro 6 months ago. I'm about to re-record it tomorrow.

I know i shouldn't really be posting here as it's my first post, but i used to be a member. This is my finally gettin back to register again

Me and Crazyfool are in a band, currently which has no name. We haven't really kicked off yet due to some commitment problems when it comes to drummers. We've gone through four so far, I think from my last count, and we would have a website, but we want everything sorted out before we start one.

I was in a band long ago....
I've attempted to start a new one, but the "potentials" would rather sit at home playing Smash Brothers.

I play a mean Viola, and a mean Harmonica.

Kenesis :) what a good band. I saw them support Hell Is For Heroes and I've seen their touring buddies Miss Black America a few times too.

I've started making solo projects under the name 'Cruel To Be Kind'

some Thrash-esque mp3's are on HERE (http://www.soundclick.com/crueltobekind), but i've made a blues guitar track and another Thrash one that are not online yet.

im in a 4-man band called explosive wheelbarrow (don't ask). we only just formed so we haven't done much yet but we're working on it.
im also in another band called under_score or namelessslug (we haven't decided yet). i want a trumpet player so we can do less than jake type stuff. i play guitar, (i wonder whether i need a second guitarist?).

all my bands are dodgy and mainly s**t but it's all good fun. we had a few gigs at my old school in great venues such as the playground (great open air stadium, wink wink) and the dining hall. oh well, another day. then again, im only 11 so what can you expect?

I'm the drummer in a metal band called Bad Day Rising.

Our website is currently in production. Will link to it when it's done.

You can see a temporary page here:

www.geocities.com/ctpfox

There are 3 songs available for download --- BUT it's geocities, the bandwidth is very limited, so if more than a few of you try and download them around the same time it'll screw up. Sorry. When the full site is up these problems will go away.

The band I was previously the drummer for are called The Flaming Eights ( www.flamineights.co.uk ) and they rock like bastards too. Check them out.

Here is the list of weird shit me and my mate concocted to be names of bands/songs/albums (i got rid of the best ones cos' they are MINE!):

Cheese blocks, random penlids, electric Kossacks (sp), borderline wardrobes, plastecine door handles, pinhead blockheads, radioactive mice, onion face, talented cage, world of cheese, the fat whiteboard, universal tree flake, stranded union, stimulated prune, infinite teaspoon, watered down tree-huggers, supplanted pilgrims, zulu golfball, voodoo witch-chair, participating tree, Chétif l'imbécile (puny fool in french), wrinkled belly flop, roadrunner filing cabinet, impossible phone, anti-rubber pie, anarchist cheese, blood red tippex, ruler faced mice and impatient hill.

these are very strange and i don't need to be told that.
my band is now called explosive wheelbarrow and our first album (when we record it and get a drummer) will be called rhubarb pig-monkeys from hell. how strange.
