email them to me if you dont have the webspace for them, and i'll host.
I know I seem to be incredibly n00bish when I ask this, but can anyone explain how to do these widescreen photos? I just recently got my own digital camera and I'd love to do one of these some day, its just that I don't have much experience with Photoshop.

you know how to make panoramic shots?
and then its photoshopping them together
quite a hard thingy to do i guess
Nope, I have no idea how to make panoramic shots either.

i have a program bundled with my camera which tries to splice them all together for you. I'll see if i can upload it.

A panoramic shot is simply when you take one picture, then rotate yourself a bit and take another. Then, when they're developed, you can stick the photos together to have a picture twice as wide (or more).
I haven't explained it very well, but I think you can work it out.

my first try and its not very seamless but its a start. :)

Thanks Smeag that actually does make sense to me. Would need something to keep the camera still though, I couldn't keep it straight for my life.

a tripod of camera stand sometimes comes with cameras
and a table or surface that is flat-ish would work
I want a tripod actually. Anyone got an idea roughly how much they cost?

tripods:
I got an ultra sturdy mini tripod for my heavy slr.
http://www.pedcopods.com/specsup2.htm
You can strap it to things like posts and rails which makes it really versatile. Theyre about $20.
I found the program I got with my camera. "PhotoStitch". It's about 1.5mb zipped up. I'll send over IRC if anyone wants it.

Another Scottish one, the beach at the end of a Loch whose name I can't remember. Made this with Panorama Factory (http://www.panoramafactory.com/), which seems fairly good but it does leave a watermark to be chopped out.

Badly put together. This is Paphos harbour in Cyprus. I made this when I was there in August. How I wish I was still there :/
Since this thread has had a bit of a revival I thought it might be useful to offer this to any new people.

I was going to make one of my kitchen, but due to my cameras crappy automatic light adjustment it looked disgraceful. I had a program called vue d'esprit or similar that generated beautiful looking 3d landscapes, and you could render to a panoramic view. T'were great, I tell thee.
My mum wanted to know what my room was like, so I took/made this. Ain't I sweet? Huge version is here (http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~pjh64/room.jpg)

Thanks Fick, what a brilliantly simple bit of software to use. I had the stitchy software that came with Camedia, but it isn't half as good as this. It couldn't stick these together as I had taken them right to left instead of left to right!
http://jasmic.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/jpegs/orlando_2.jpg
Thats my first go stitching some pics I took un Epcot back at Easter.
It gets pretty good results as long as you remember to set the focal length correctly. And the times when it does struggle just use the manual matching up points thing to sort it out.
