I think that the noob bashing is getting mighty out of hand! everywhere you see, noob bashing, its causing a major downfall in the forum. If us forumites continue to bash noobs who continue to :nana: up the forum, we well start a trend that cannot be stopped... It is called bashing, you are showing that you are allowing bashing! Which is bad, bad, bad. I feel as if I am in a country that restricts certain rights, like, that :nana: right, or the smiley right. We also can not think without having our own opinions critisized, its like middle school all over again,
everywhere is peer pressure unless your in the "in crowd". And not many are. Can we have a free society? Have our own opinions, and not be bashed to flaming death? Maybe a restriction or two, then a ban, but not bashed to death and then banned.
Now you say you are sick of the Randomness of poor slobs from all over the world? Well then you must accept that Weebl's stuff is random, and that it will always attract random people no matter what you do. I am not saying let all the nanas flow like heaven is humping hell, but do not be so agressive! Give them a warning, and keep on giving warnings, because right now, the justice system is out of hand!
Also many forumites, act like complete snobs, with their nose in the air, like they're better then anyone, which is not true. Bring your nose down and see the light...
Okay thats it! I cheesed myself as this will be taken as complete bogus, which infact has a message in its self.
Also for you spamming random people, you can be bashed to flaming death. Thats about it.
Argh I dont know why I posted this... :(

one thing i have noticed is that this forum has a rediculous amount of lurkers. either that, or its the time difference.

1. There is very little flaming here, compared to most other popular forums.
2. This is not a free society. Never has been. We're all guests on a little piece of interweb, paid for by weebl out of his own pocket. He let's the admins and mods take care of it as they see fit.
3. I've been here for a whole year. the mods are fair, and new users are not flamed unless they deserve it.

true.. it is the interweb.. and you mods can do whatever you feel is right... but for some reason, I have seen alot of posts, with flames in them. Toward many people. And some people, mostly all not mods (truth, seems like people who are trying to follow the standard of expectations here which are high) , thinking they're better then anyone
I have recently been thinking not to post lol anymore, but I cant live without lol. But now everyones saying, hah, and that just doesnt cut it for me :( (Its nice when you dont have to make sure that every word you post is picture perfect. Or is this just me? But it seems like I havent seen a spelling mistake in ages, except from the noob crowd [lol, noob crowd])
[EDIT] I think MIRC is getting to me :(

oh nos, the justice system is out of control!
;)
but seriously I think we arnt being that harsh in a lot of cases. I mean how many times do you have to warn people, and they still dont listen? Ive seen people getting abusive towards mods and they havent reacted that hard.
If I had free reign of things, it would be a lot harder. On another forum I frequent, it costs $10 to join, and I've seen people post on the day they join "Hey guys I'm new here" threads and get banned for it before the thread reaches page 2. Now do you think we're harsh?
http://www.weebls-stuff.com/forums//showthread.php?threadid=1206
On most forums, that thread would contain a multitude of bannings.
Myself, I try not to give into the dark side too often but it sometimes does come out, mostly through frustration of people not listening to me. If i have to do some moderatin' action, I usually post, or PM them saying what I did and why so they understand not to do it again.
The other day someone started flaming me after I told them off for jumping in to a serious debates thread and babbling utter crap. I didnt ban them (altho someone else did) but they got unbanned and a 2nd chance anyway. Next time however, I wont be so lenient.
Posting here is a privilidge, and if people start abusing this privildge, action will be taken by the mods. This works both ways, if people start becoming forum vigilantes, action will be taken against them too.
This forum has a very young userbase, but its a grown up world out there and theres no excuse for some of the gibberish/abuse I see on here from day to day.

Thats something I didnt post, or maybe i did, but I do support harsher punishment from mods. BUT I dont support mods making it a personel ban, just because a mod has the power to ban someone doesnt mean that they have to ban someone that they hate just because they did something like, maybe speak in all l337 lol, or something that might have annoyed the mods, but wouldnt have been considered banned material. Not saying that has ever occured, but just saying. Although I have seen it happen on other forums, I have been to forums, where mods seriously are jerks, and ban people for every little thing. I remember when I got banned for a week or so for calling a mod a nazi... now you might think thats bad... but I really hate mods that ban everything... these mods, 2 of them, were banning everyone for anything that might be considered bad, no warnings or anything. Many people revolted... and now that forum is dead, because 50% of its 1000 or so members left, and also because of bad leadership. But thats what happens.
There really should have been some bans there manny, if you dont show people that you have the power to enforce the laws, then they will disobey them.
I think now politics are getting to my head

Anyone I've thought about banning, first I make up in my mind if i'm doing it to make the forums a better place, or for personal retribution. If its the latter, I will defer it to a mod who isnt personally involved or I will ask someone who has nothing to do with it if I'm doing the right thing. I dont want people to be afraid of arguing against me in the Debates forum because I wont ban them just for having a different opinion. There are one or 2 people who have been hostile towards me, in which I gave them a suitibly fitting custom title for their efforts however ;) I usually do remove anyone I've set after a while tho.
I think you'll find all the mods are like that, we want people to enjoy themselves here, not live in a state of fear.
But rules will be enforced if people break them repeatedly.
EDIT I'm going to move this thread to Debate because I think it's suitable redeemed itself. I might prune out a few of the silly posts first tho.

Well thats what you need to do, thats what is better. That means that you, and other mods are organized... And not just banning when you feel like it, but of course, you could be lying, but Im trusting you enough to trust that your not

\o/ giving them a title is sort of like banishment, and banning is death. Banishment your still around but now no one wants to have to do anything with you, and banning your good as gone :D

Alright even though I hate debates, in a way I guess this is a debate though
|EDIT| I bet it feels good to ban those ones who pm you back saying something rude
but doesn't this problem happen again and again and again?
honestly
seems like a cycle to me
one of those things that just happens with people, some dont like change, and some are trying to find themselves a place.
You see old people leaveing and new people coming, but sooner or later the new people will become old people and the old people will leave.

The amazing thing is that on the many message boards I have frequented I have never been subject to n00b flaming, not once. Probably because I don't make posts like
"HEY I'm noo woowoo :nana: :nana: :nana: <--Look e dances so cute lol!!11"
But I'm admin on another fairly high traffic forum, you have to strike a balance between giving people freedom and keeping it controlled. A difficult and thankless task on occasion.

Having also been a mod at numerous other fora (some more noteable than others, admittedly), and having been banned myself once or twice (not from WS-forums, but another one, and this was for puerile, "I questioned an admin too frequently and made her fragile ego quiver in a way she didn't like"-reasons if you ask me) during my time online, I see the benefits and the curses of forum-hazing.
Honestly, do some people see no good whatsoever in posting against a popular e-colloquialism? I would have to disagree with such a mindset. Not only does it help budding new thought, it also lights a firecracker under the asses of those who are simply, NORMALLY, too tentative to say what they really think, or are too afraid of creating waves. Read: the Carebear effect. I write about this often: the lovey-dovey Communism that forces a group of people into one form of thought; that form being "Why can't we all get along? Just be happy! Quit being so mean!". And I loathe it. Being mean and unhappy is, sometimes, exactly what you need to do in order to get the point across.
And other times I can see the curses.
One easily seen curse is the Sandbox effect: when people are so terse and caustic when posting their God-given freely expressed opinions, it can actually scare away those with weaker constitutions. This, while beneficial to a good flame war or four, is deterimental to a board's population in the long run, and mods can't feasibly bank on those "flame war numbers" for very long until those sad puppies start to turn tail and run. And run they do.
But in short I don't see a fraction of the flaming and hazing here on this board as badly (mmm, badly?) as I've seen it in countless other fora. Try the somethingawful fora if you want to see it BAD. Or admin/mod corruption? Try the fora associated with Verisimilitude (http://www.truthhurts.org) -- it's all guaranteed to make you wretch if you can get past the "endearing cynicism" (oh please).
But one note: N00b-friendly does not denote Carebear-happy. If anything, this forum seems much more n00b indifferent than anything else. And that's a good thing, by me.

I've been here around a year so I'm gonna throw in my opinion.
there've been alot of bannings over the year and guesse what, i only disagreed with one of them.
yep Apart from one forumite i've totally agreed with the mods on everything.
It's Weebl's Forum patrolled by people he see's fit.
it's not their fault aload of little shit's have joined recently and don't understand how our forum works.
when you go through a bad point you have to be more drastic to right it.
I am eagerly awaiting "Zero Tolerance Week" when the worst will be weeded and we can go back to being a mainly happy community.
in conclusion.
Vive le Mods.

i'm about sick of the over-zealous self proclaim and unwanted 'protectors of the forum' if some one says something and you don't like it... don't reply... just report it and let the mods deal with it...
i really think that poking flamers with sticks and stiring the pot is more destructive to the forum than any noob-ism...
i won't name names... but i have a few in my head...
Edit: or if you HAVE to say something make it clever at least...
