So, Leeds United are basically down and out. Next stop: Nationwide Divison 1 :(

But where did it all go wrong. It was 2 years to the day yesterday that Leeds were in the Champions League semi-finals. Was it O'Leary? Was it the players? Or do you blame the chairman: Peter Risdale?

*To any Leeds fans, as a United fan, I actually wanted you to stay up ;)*

We were chatting about this down the pub last night.
Personally I think it is down to Risdale. Shouldn't have sold their key players and got rid of O'Leary.
I also blame Viduka, stupid dismissals recently. What a tw*t!!!

I don't know why some people blame O'Leary. He wanted more money and his key plaers not to be sold so they sacked him. Shocking!!

Ahh...see, up here in Scotland, we're smart. Celtic had him and got rid of him as soon as they could! :p

I don't think it's players fault, I think it is down to Risdale, it's a real shame too, to see a club that was so great only a couple years ago. They're just not the sorta club that gets relegated! :(

Come on Chelsea btw!

Ridsdale. Hes responible for the terrible finances, he spet money they didnt have so when they didnt get Champions Laegue places, they were screwed :(

:(
my beloved leeds
I don't really know what went wrong, Risdale gave O'Leary money to be a champion leauge team, when we didn't make it and suffered aload of injuries we where strugelling and in debt, off pitch troubles both in court and financially didn't help.
Risdale had always been a fans fovorite so you knew somthing was wrong when we all turned agaisnt him, so he sacks O'Leary partially cos of the book (which was stupid ... it was a rubbish book aswell) and partially cos he could I recon he felt he needed to show peoplehe was the boss. Then we get Venables who not only doesn't win but sells all our players (people like Woodgate and Keane should never of left, yet we still have Harte and Kelly) and replaces them with players like Barmby.
Things go really wrong so once again Venables goes and Reid comes in, and it looks like hes sorting us out (got the loans in but they never did anygood apart from Penant) However this season when we go back to not winning bye bye Mr Reid (oh and Risdale has alos left) then Grey comes in and gets us into a decent side ... who lose alot and has a really dodgy defence.

I blame the champion league pressure and it spiraled out from there

But the Champions League pressure was a result of Peter Ridsdale giving O'Leary more money then you had.

Ridsdales to blame - one of the drawbacks of having a passionate fan as a chairman, he can easily become blinded by the bright lights of success and splash out money he doesnt have.

A well run club would only make money available that they actually have to spend, not money that they might get from spending the money.

Dont think you can really blame o'leary because he bought the players as he shouldnt have been given the money in the first place - when he first went to villa a lot of us blues supporters thought "ah he wont do that well, he wont have money to burn" but well done to oleary for losing that stigma.

Its a sad state of affairs hes got you into, and by the sounds of it man city arent too far off (60mill+ debt?)

it couldve been a whole lot worse had the FA not let you off on several accounts.

Mind you, needlessly sacking O'Leary and then selling LOADS of players was a bit worse

It is a real shame at the amount of players that will leave for pittence and no-where near their value (IE: Paul Robinson = £2m, Ian Harte, £500k)

id say the players as they are not doing the work there payed to do so i cant bring myself to blame the manager or chairman

i blame the chairman for the simple fact he spent 1.5million pounds on designer gold fish in the colour of the leeds home and away kits because a fun shi consultant told him to, now thats just stupididty

good point angry paul but the players could play better to get them out of debt and then they would be fine and could have probably stayed up and i feel sorry for you leeds fans as when i was watching the match (leeds vs bolton) a kid about 9 years old was badly crying.

yes but nobody cares for the poor 14 year old who was crying!!!!
Ridsdale was to blame all the money problems all the money leeds made went in his back pocket. but us going down is mainly the players fault they always paniced and ended up running around the pitch like headless chickens!!!
do any leeds fans want to come to the police with me and get ridsdale done for fraud???????

luckly we have the best fan base second to none in England. And if they balance who they sell to relive wages and who they bring in both from the youth and transfers I'm sure we'll bounce up maybe not next season but the one after

I blame the bad financing, which is basically the chairmans fault.

Being a Hull City fan (promoted, woooo) Leeds are one of our biggest rivals, and so part of me is happy that they got relegated... We may be playing them in the league soon...
