First off: I've been hoping for a sports and games thread for about a month now, so woo and yeah. There was plenty demand

OK, this thread's sole purpose is so I can find someone on these boards who shares my love of America's national passtime, baseball. If there are enough of you we can get a conversation going, if not then we can use PM's to do what sports fans do best: argue.

I'm a gambling addict, and I'll take anybody for 15 rupies in favor of the Yankees in either their 3-game series coming up. One is against the Oakland A's and starts tomorrow, May 4th. The other starts May 7th against the Seattle Mariners.

Both are 3 games. You can go to www.mlb.com or www.yankees.com for info on the teams if you're not farmiliar with them but want to bet anyway.

You found a fellow fan.

But I'm not dumb enough to bet against the Yankees. Look at their team!

What are you talking about? I know that the Yankees are getting better, but they still are only a great team playing average. They are still not that good. What you should be saying right now is "Who will pick against the Rangers?" or "Who will pick the Devil Rays to win?

Yeah, but come on? Oakland and Seattle? Who would HONESTLY back either of those against A-Rod and co?

Yankees vs Mets, however, I might consider. I am a Mets and a Yankees fan as I have seen both in NY, but I prefer the Mets.

Oakland has one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, while the Yankees are just starting to get good. Yankees vs. Mets, however, is an awful bet.

The Mets sucked 2 years ago, they sucked last year, and they really haven't done much to improve over the off-season.

I spend my days around Mets fans :(

Amazing! Another Mets fan! What are the chances of that?

I say they get rid of Piazza. If they feel he's no good anymore as a catcher, then they should simply get rid of him not move him to frickin' first base! This is why there are players called first basemen not "old catchers who can't catch anymore so we shunt them to first base". Also, wtf was up with firing Bobby Valentine? Not like Art Howe is a great improvement.

My dad lives in easy walking distance of Shea Stadium, therefore he r0xx. Oh yes.
