Right, now this isnt official and if people think I'm wrong, flame my sorry ass. Aslo, I am not trying to run this place, just help to maintain that nice 'New Forum Smell'.

Bascially, this forum was established to create a nice place to talk about sport and bet on things to win/lose your rupies. But obviously some people get greedy:

Rules

Rule #1 : Do not make a thread of something that (1) already has a similar/exactly the same thread on page 1. (2) You/Somebody has tried in the last 7 days and failed miserably. (IE: Lotteries)

Rule #2 : There is no need to create threads that is just a question. If there is a question to be asked - ask it in here!

Rule #3 : Sporting banter is nice, but dont go round just saying that others peoples teams are 'cow dung' (IE: OMG ArseN00l R TeH SUxx0rZ) just because you dont like them. Indulge in a intelligent conversation (IE: Man Utd fan: "Shame we didnt win the title, but well done to Arsenal")

Rule #4 : If a popular thread is a little different from what you think is a 'perfect thread' do not create another one exactly the same, but just a little different to satisfy yourself. Ask the thread-owner what you think could make it better. (Also do not create exactly the same thread because it got a 'liitle too long')

Rule #5 : We have no mods, but please respect the people who basically run this little section. Do so and they will respect you backa dn we can all get on nicely. In fact Rule #5 is play nice.(Idea from Work?)

Rule #6: Just because your brains have the consistency of tapioca pudding, doesnt mean you should run about making 2nd accounts and telling everyone to use you like a bank. We're not that stupid.(Idea from Work?)

Rule #7: There are many threads were people decide to go off topic, so: a) If someone post a topic (i.e. Roulette thread) dont start talking about football, and b) If you want to talk about that topic then make a thread about it. (Idea from Peej)

Rule #8: A) Do not create a betting thread if you do not have sufficient funds to back up a possible landslide in gambler winnings. (IE: AngryPaul's Betting Shop began on a balance of £2000 - enough to back up winnings) B) If you do create a betting thread please stick to your own rules yourself at least (IE: Saying max bet 15 and not allowing bets over that amount)

Rule #9: stop whinging bout the moderator, there will never be one. But if there will be, it will be chosen. IT WILL NOT BE YOUR NOMINATIONS, BUT WHO WEEBL OR WHATEVER TRUSTS.(Quoted from Dr M)

FAQ's

How do I bet?
You venture into the thread and make sure to read the first post (IE: The opening post by the thread-owner) and discover how they need payment and when. The usual way for betting (The way AngryPaul's Betting Shop (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8808) and Roulette (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11394) do) is to post your bet and then donate the muneh to that user before the event you bet on takes place.

How do I win?
Your bet has to win (IE: You bet on Red, Roulette comes up with Red) Your winnings will be calculated and payed out.

How do I collect my winnings?
The usual and preferred way is that the winnings will be donated back to you within 48 hours.

What if I have no muneh to bet?
Post well and earn rupies! Or secondly get a loan from the Old Timer Rupie Loan Co (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12025)!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will add more as I find that they need to be added or people tell me some

Thank you ;)

Well done, Sir! Glad to see someone taking the initiative.

I would just like to add that it might be worth setting up threads on specific sports, so that there are not new ones created over and over again. eg, football thread, rugby thread, golf thread, welly throwing thread. that sort of thing. if poss get them stucked.

I have got a strange feeling that rules 1 and 4 were aimed in my direction.

Good to see that some rules are being laid down though after it took a while for us to get a sports thread.

He'd certainly make a good mod, in my oppinion.

I think Streety was a bit impatient and that's why he started a new thread, though, AngryPaul's is expanding into other sports aleady. :)

Nice rules btw. Should clear up any queries.

I'd like to take this opportunity to brag a little but that's all I'll say.

...Well...The idea of a betting section being added may have been thanks to my PMs to certain Admins about the sudden interest in gambling...I also campaigned alongside AP and Dr S for the Sports Forum....kudos to us are in order, I believe :p

Dingbat

Either AngryPaul or Dr S for moderator. Perhaps both.

Twig, I think you and I are exactly the kind of people who shouldn't be mods, primarily because we jump on people who make mistakes too fast.

seaempty I think could be a good moderator as he is a good poster and never screams at people who make mistakes he gives them advice

You mean you do? I don't. I jump on people who are simply twats and try and help them, if they do not heed my warnings then I get miffed. You jump down people's throats :p

I won't say here who I want, or believe, should be mods but I think this place would need some experience of an already existing mod ;) Maybe someone else aswell.

I agree very muchly with you there, Jonny. I'd like to see someone of his stature become new mod here but of course, admins will have to have their say about it.

Oddly enough, AngryPaul's name isn't actually Paul! :p Mostly called AP here (short for AngryPaul)

I think PoofBird would be a good mod to get things started, since he has mod experience, but he might not have the time (or desire) to do so. AngryPaul would be good too, but it would be nice to see a current mod help get things started.
And Twig (may we still call you that?), don't think are the only ones who asked for this thread. I've seen numerous people, including myself, mentioning the need for a sports/gambling thread for a while. I even had it in my sig at one point.

I think Angry Paul and Dr.S would make great mods for this forum. Also, nice rules Angry Paul.

ZekeyLizard
05-05-2004, 12:52 PM
The Mods here should be Capn Zola and Dr.S as they were the only ones to take the initiative to PM weebl over and over and over.

They also were the first ones to make the stickied Cheesebin and Crapbasket thread where supporters of this new section could place their vote. They then PMed the results to Weebl.

And, AngryPaul, I know one MORE rule that needs to be here:

This is for the Bank: Just because your brains have the consistency of tapioca pudding, doesnt mean you should run about making 2nd accounts and telling everyone to use you like a bank. We're not that stupid.

Dr S only petitioned to keep the sports threads out of general pap, not because he's interested in sports.

Personally I think PoofBird and AngryPaul would be better mods, but really the mod thing deserves a whole other thread, who the moderator is going to be is extremely off topic to the thread.

I'm very interseted in sports, that is why I wanted and petitioned constantly for the forum. Any threads I made ended up with peole just de-railing them bye sayuing that they didn't like sports.

oh and thank you for suggesting me as a mod ... I'm flattered

I thinkthat AngryPaul Dr s seaempty streety or JohnnyFFmaster should be the mod because you have streety and seaempty sport fanatics Dr s JohnnyFFmaster who know about gambling and take a keen intrest in sports and AngryPaul who is a sport fanatic and knows about betting. And pay no attention to my sig as I think strrety and seaempty both deserve it.

Wasn't there just three posts saying don't worry about the mods, and you continue to discuss it? Right now you'll have to wait until an admin elects someone, and do remember, we have Super Mods as well.

The off-topic rules

There are many threads were people decide to go off topic. I know im not the best person to do this but someone had to.

there really are only three rules ( if you have any more please pm me)

1. If someone post a topic i.e. Roulette thread dont start talking about football

2.If you want to talk about that topic then make a thread.

3. Don't advertise your threads without asking the thread owner first.

I hope that clears it up and i know your thinking he advertises and gos off-topic but im stopping right now, because its not a good thing to do.

Here you go AP

and please look at what i have posted in online managment game

Added Rule #8

Dr M
21-05-2004, 10:31 PM
AngryPaul, I have another rule.

"stop whinging bout the moderator, there will never be one. But if there will be, it will be chosen. IT WILL NOT BE YOUR NOMINATIONS, BUT WHO WEEBL OR WHATEVER TRUSTS. (or something along those lines)"

AngryPaul
21-05-2004, 10:38 PM

streety
21-05-2004, 10:48 PM
Personally I don't think that anyone has whinged recently about the fact that there is no mod. Everything has been going ok in here. I see the rule has been added but I don't think that it will help matters really. It just brings up the topic again for people to discuss.

Is it just me that is noticing a pretty significant number of threads containing poorly thought through schemes that are blatant attempts to get rich quick?

Methinks many a noob has seen Angry Paul or Poofbirds big piles of cash and fancies a slice of that pie.

Most of the threads have a few common features:

No, contradicting, or generally crap rules.
Shockingly poor odds (hence the 'get rich quick' aspect)
Little funds to finance the thread

Fortunately natural selection plays it's part, hence Roulette et al are flying high, while the bottom of the screen is a festering pile of crap ideas.

Just my thoughts

streety
22-05-2004, 07:28 PM
I agree there are alot of poor ideas for people to get rich...
The store points were introduced to stop people spamming. People are now spamming more to get more rupies. I don't mind original ideas for games but I feel that something needs to be done, otherwise the sports & bets thread could go or maybe even the store points.

Just an idea but there could be a "Bankrupt" function which means that members cannot make any rupies and their balence remains at zero. This would stop people abusing the system.

sheep go moo
22-05-2004, 07:38 PM
strety isnt there already a "bankrupt" system, well kindof when people are sent to the cheese bin for good i.e. fatmanskinny
also i have an example of a poorly thought of thread that broke about 4 of your rules AP
"badger racing", peg has only 50 rupies he made the max bet 5 rupies he had no rules and me and deetee had to make them for him

streety
22-05-2004, 07:44 PM
I am not sure about the bankrupt rule already in place. I will have to PM one of the mods.

sheep go moo
22-05-2004, 07:46 PM
no what i meant that if someone is confined to the cheese bin and people - rate him and he reaches zero then he is technically bankrupt

Cap'n Zola
22-05-2004, 07:53 PM
Yeah but you're a moron.

Was FatManSkinny confined? I didn't think he was.

Anyway - he's retruned as that Zackron Goldago guy.

If someone was confined then he wouldn't be bankrupt, persay. He wouldn't be able to bet anyway because he's CONFINED! (Can't see betting forum or anyother apart from CB)! It would just mean he would have no money - that is, if someone was bored enough to go about minusing all of his posts.

And the Badger Racing betting thread wasn't that bad actually - it was just you and Peej that couldn't except that it could've worked. For a start - Peg has at least £150 anyway and is helped out by his big brother, Beez.

sheep go moo
22-05-2004, 07:56 PM
watever about the bankrupt thing
and i was the one helping peg if youn read the thread i helped him with the rules and i am offering to back it i was only using it as an example

I was wonderin' how many rupies you think is good enought to start a nice simple betting game? Like "Heads Or Tails?" (as it only has two possible outcomes?

Shave
22-06-2004, 07:23 PM
"heads and tails" game has already been created. i should imagine a few 100 rupies would be needed to start a good thread although you can start a thread with a low maximum bet (of about 10 rupies) on about 100 rupies.

I don't think that's always true, and there are a hell of a lot of simple games that are terrible at the moment, or just copies of each other but with maybe one or two rules changed.

That's the problem I've noticed, there are loads of threads which are basically 'bet on an outcome that's generated by chance, odds are...' which are all effectively the same, but a lot of people don't realise it. This forum will only stay interesting if people can be more original.

Shave

Gambling and other fun things to earn you some points are allowed. Asking for money is not, as it's not fun and doesn't add to the forum. Private loans via PM are ok, but keep it reasonable. Groups pooling money to win huge sums in the gambling threads are frowned upon and will receive a swift wallop from aforementioned mods, supermods and admins.

read it and abide by it :)
