Another one. Nude Woman in a Red Armchair by Picasso. I actually like all of his paintings of Marie-Thérèse Walter, just so voluptuous. I like my curvy women. -

Gatochy, the prints on my walls are full size and much better than the "thumbnails" I posted as examples. I was just trying to show the rest of you what hangs in my office. I also have Van Gogh's "Lillies" but didn't go looking for a copy online. That's always been one of my favorite pics. This has always been another, 'tis called 'The Isle of the Dead,' by Arnold Bocklin (forgive the lack of umlaut.) Dunno where I first saw this pic, but its been one of my favorites ever since.
Another pic I really like, one that I'd love to post here if it were not for my astounding lack of knowledge of all things internet, is called 'The Nightmare,' by Henry Fuseli. Guess I just have some kind of attraction to swiss painters :)
gatochy
23-05-2004, 08:07 PM
Yeah, The Nightmare is one of those paintings that, for some reason, once you've seen it you never forget it. This one is by Arthur Rackham, and it's called Freya.

Yup thats it, I'll think of some way to thank you soon colonel ;)
Theories abound regarding what the image is supposed to represent, but the first time i saw it it just creeped the hell out of me and I've liked it ever since. Just thought 'Island of the Dead' was a bit more... I dunno, intense, in a way...
Id love to go see both of those works in a museum... alas for being destitute ;)
