ok this is a sports related thing, i was just wondering if anyone does paintballing as a hobbie and i dont mean 'yeah i go every few months and im leet' i mean does anyone own any gear, im pretty interested in starting it as i've been a fair bit and i think im a bit leet, and i'd just start to do it regularly, and i know its fairly expensive unfortunately. but i live in london and was wondering if the paintballing places nearby (allied comand, campaign, delta force) allow the use of your own guns, and if they dont do any other places? is there any information on starting relatively competative paintball? thanks for any help you can give
I did it once and i got a massive bruise on my WONT GO INTO DEATAIL .yes i think you should get back into it as it is great fun and brilliant ecxersise.

Oh, you mean the one where they went paintballing stark na....
*ahem*
I've been a few times, but the place I went to (Allied Command) sucked because the martials didn't seem to care that 20 people were murdering me at point blank range for about 5 minutes.
I would like to get into paintballing, it is a fun sport, but it is just too expensive really.

I've got a big closed place here where we can paintball but it's like 100 bucks just to rent the gun...

leeroy, if you come to durham uni, there is a university paintballing team... (I think they are national university championes)
there are quite a few universities with teams. If you go to your local place and inquire about local teams, they can probably point you in the right direction.

ah the wonderful world of paintballing... i will give you some sound words of advice:
DON'T pick up smoke bombs once they are actually smoking... they melt flesh...
I like running into cabins screaming after a nice stealthy approach as people inside seem to get very scared and not shoot you straight away..surprise is a great tactic...
i buy paintballs off of the internet and take them in with me.. as long as the place lets you take them it is a lot cheaper
i guess i could put more stuff but i can't be bothered... me n my friends have our own paintball guns and play round a forest near my house in the middle of the night... the best way to paintball by far

I used to play quite a lot with friends to out local site where of my mates now works in the holidays when he's back from university. We got pretty good as a squad, were even asked if we would like to have a days training with the paintball sites own team (this was when they were South West Paintball League Champions) so we obviously had a bit of skill. unfortunately it never happened due to having no money and coming to university... maybe one day
Got my own mask as have most of my mates, looked at getting my own marker and playing more reguarly but decided against it when i my bank acount was pretty much empty, damned lack of money. As a group me and my friends have played in one local tournament where we came second, should have done better but were playing with an understrength team, but we did manage to get maximum score in two of the games out of the 7 we played. It was only the first 2 games of the day that let us down. O well
If you're looking to get equipment, the people at the sites are usually quite helpful as to giving advice of what to get (well they were in my experience, they even offered to get it for us at trade price).
but if you are looking for equip why not check out

hehe, i'm going painting tomorrow - in a wonderous place with a three-story, five parapetted (?), fort construction, retired military vehicles, and about a dozen fields in all, including some fantastic speedball.
but i digress
i haven't bought yet, but whenever i rent, a tippman 98's what i get - it really is nice. i believe that's also what one of my brother's has, and he enjois it immensly. if you're getting a mask too, go for the anti-fog models: they are much better in the long run for wear and visual quality.
even if just for fucking around, never buy a pistol, as they tend to be terrible in accuracy and reload time - a total waste of paint.

Well, I'm going paintballing today. Wish me luck, as I'll probably return with many bruises :D

Last Time I went, it wasnt too bad (about £30). For about 4 fields, 5 cans of paintballs and gun hire and a free hot lunch. Twas great fun had a stange field with sheds everywhere, one of my team ran into one bashed against the side and it collapsed after he ran out (lucky methinks). Also try and run down the sides of the fields if no one is there, took out half the other team because they didnt notice me running down the side of the field (dont know how Im quite hard to miss). But anyway beware of you teammates and not putting their safety catch on with the nozzle plug in, that really really hurts, my poor beloved ankle

I'd reccomend the spyder Xtra. based on the spyder victor 2, it is similar in all ways except the ability to fire automatically without slitting rounds. you can select 3 round burst, 6 round burst or full auto with a simple electronic switch on the handle. ~100 dollars or ~80 pounds.

i haven't heard many good things about spyders in terms of long-term wear. they're great for an inexpensive starter gun, but tippmans seem to be a bit more lasting, even if a bit more costly. the field i most recently visited had rather old tippman98s that still retained good accuracy and speed with no barrel modifications and only bare minimum cleaning/maintenance. with a good flatline and proper maintenance a 98 could last you quite a while.

I went at the weekend, and what jolly good fun it was too. Got 5 bruises, but it was worth it. My only complaint was the visor - it kept misting up. Kinda ruined it, as half way through I couldn't see squat! He's a picture of me with my victorious team.

The Bone Daddy RG my flends, a great reliable gun, but why is it that only Hicks and people who look like they have no life out of said sport and experiment with "stem cell" reasearch on cats usually play. I especially hate the one's with ghillie suits who have huge ass barrels
Try not to bump relitively old threads in the future :)

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but if I started a new one I'd be told to use the search button.
I'm going paintballing on Tuesday at a place called Delta Force in upminster. However, there's a problem. They will only open if there are at least twenty bookings.
So far there are 11.
Would anyone be interested/able to get to Upminster (Directions (http://www.paintballgames.co.uk/maps/EW.html)) and pay for themselves to get in? Tuesday the 1st September. Delta Force paintballing. Quite expensive - £30 for adults, other packages for young 'uns - but that does include 12 games over 6 maps and eqipment hire. You have to buy your own paint though, so expect to spend about £50 on it.
PM me if you're interested. I'd love to see some of you there.
It's probably too short notice, and considering most of the people on here are 10 year old idiots and poor students I don't expect much of a response. But try anyway. Thanks.
EDIT: Forgot to give you the website with the contact details. D'oh! It's here:
http://www.paintballgames.co.uk/
But you'll have to call them if you want any real information. The websties pretty but crap.
