JFL Mid-season Review
FC Mersey: Have maintained some good form this season as Roque has been the star of the team. Played exciting football and havent been short of goals. Unbeaten in the League, but their Cup dreams were dashed by London North. Need to keep up form to hold off title challengers.
Glasgow United: Despite being labelled the weaker of the 'big three' Glasgow have kept pace with Mersey and are only second by goal difference. van Bruggin has been the goal-scorer. Sergei has been the powerhouse. Still in the cup after disposing of Scottish rivals Edinburgh City. Unbeaten all season. League and Cup double a realistic target.
FC Bristol: Have managed to keep up with Glasgow and Mersey, but not without a few nerves. Late goals have saved blushes a few times and that needs to be sorted to remain in contention. The late addition of Irishman John Portman has eased that problem and has given the team stability. Unlucky to miss a JFL Cup semi-final place on spot-kicks to Leeds Wednesday.
London North: Despite being tagged as 'relegation contenders', London have managed to defy the critics and stay in place to secure a European spot. the purchase of Marc van hooven was inspired as he has added an attacking side ot London. Only team to beat FC Mersey this season as they secured a JFL Cup semi-final spot. Champions cup spot is possible of any of the 'big three' slip up.
Stockport FC: Have been yo-yo'ing between a mid-table place and a European spot. van Haven and Anja have linked up well to score some important goals. They need to add some solidity to their results if they want to claim a Euro spot this season.
FC Reading: Still look a very good team despite being locked in a battle with Stockport and London for 4th place. Jarrell and d.C.Thompson have been the outstanding players in the team as Reading have delivered more than the 'average' football expected of them. Being JFL Cup semi-finalists offers them some glory if they miss out on a European place.
Leeds Wednesday: Former champions and the most successful team in the history of the JFL had an embaressing start as they lost their first 3 games in a row. Leeds have managed to now haul themselves out of that daze and put some results together, although they are by no means the force they were. A JFL Cup final appearance might help numb the pain of missing out on the expected European place. A dissapointing season cannot be over to soon for the Leeds fans.
Wigan City: An indifferent season for the newly-promoted team. Having only enjoyed success once this season should make a bad season but a few draws and some stern performances make this an ok season for a team expected to battle relegation. Oliver Jean was a good buy and added some needed steel to the midfiled. Avoiding relegation looks possible, but points need to accompany those solid performances.
Birmingham South: Like Wigan, Birmingham have performed well and might consider themselves unlucky to be 2 points above the drop-zone. The selling of Andy Johnson to FC Mersey in response to a swap with trouble-maker Dani Viez could be a mistake as without Johnson, Birmginham seem weaker. Lucas has scored some important goals, but more are needed to score points and safety.
Peterborough Athletic: Poor. Worse than Leeds as the former champions sit at the bottom of the table with only one win and eight loses to their name. Being without a manager all season has affected the results and is porbably the main reason why Peterborough are in this predicement. Although only 2 points adrift of safety, relegation looks certain unless a manager is finally brought in. No players have stood out.
Weare just like leeds united.
Relagation next year. {jk}

*Dingbat walks into the apcked Press room. Flashbulbs go off as he sits down. A man walks over and whispers something in his ear as he sits. He nods. A glass of water appears.*
Dingbat: Lets make this quick lads, those players don't train themselves.
Journalist #1: dingbat, Hi. How do you think that your team - London North - have done so far this season? Were you at all bothered with them being labelled as potential relegation battlers?
Dingbat: Press speculation means nothing to me. All I knew was that I had a perfectly capable squad who, if trained correctly and picked well, could blossom. As you can see, we've done just that and I'm very proud of the lads for that.
Journalist #2: Marc van Hooven has been an inspired signing. What caught your eye about him and do you think it is his skill or the team that has made him stand out?
Dingbat: Marc has been brilliant for us so far this season, but I'll say one thing about the lad - despite his price tag and his prowess he never gets ahead of himself. He still trains with the rest of us, he hasn't made any major demands and he is very much a team player. Of course, he is skillful, but one man never made a team, and Marc knows that.
Journalist #3: The Press may not consider London as one of the 'bigger teams' such as Bristol, Mersey and Glasgow, but you have continued to push for a European place and are still not out of the title race. Do you believe you can maintain this form into the end of the season?
Dingbat: I have every faith in my team. It may be a little hopeful to start looking at the title itself, but, as you've said yourself, we're not out of it yet and we certainly have no intention of caving in at this stage.
Journalist #4: You have also reached the JFL Cup semi-finals where you meet Glasgow at Le Stade 2000. Will this be your main focus or would you rather cement a high place in the league as opposed to claiming some silverware?
Dingbat: Everyone of course wants to win the Cup, but I refuse to sacrifice it at the expense of the league. As every JFL manager will know, the League is our first and foremost objective. The Cup only takes the League's place after the League has ended, and the league is far from over as you know.
Journalist #5: Excluding yourself, of course, who would you say has had the better season so far in the JFL? Could it be Mersey's exciting football, Glasgow continuing chase or Leeds recovery?
Dingbat: Well, that's a hard one. Mersey started out well, but I have a feeling that they're maybe faltering a bit now and of course we managed to knock them out of the Cup competition. Leeds have recovered quite well, but I can still see them going down if they're not careful. Glasgow have impressed me - their team has been consistently solid and I've always seen them as a threat. We'll have to work our socks off to beat them.
Spokesman: Thats all for today Ladies and Gentlemen. Hope to see you at our next home game against Leeds in three weeks. Thank you for coming.
Dingbat: Thank you.
*Dingbat is ushered back to the training ground. The journalists still ask questions as he dissapears through the door.*
You can see us going down i can see us withe a champions leauge place.
I wonder who is more down to earth.
Dingbat by the way

Anyway Wigan better fear our upcoming game because we are going to be playing at our best.

I'm absolutely over the moon about this result. To come here, and get a result is fantastic, especially against class opposition like Mersey. We defended well, and caught them on the break. This is a great moral lifting result. As for the rest of the season...it's on like Donkey Kong!

We where always going to lose at least once in the season, it was inevitable, and now it's behind us we can look onwards and battle for our place back at the top of the league. Every cloud eh?

I'm very disapointed by this result. Two lapses in concentration, two mistakes, too bad. We held out for a great deal of the game, but we rarely attacked or looked threatening. The forwards looked like they had one too many pork pies and were way off the pace. The only decent thing I can take from this match is the weather...it was a lovley day.

The Wigan City board have decided to terminate the contract of sheep-go-moo with immediate effect as the manager again failed to turn up or even hand in a team-sheet. Post match comment: I am pleased with how we played attack wise, but we were poor defensively, we didn't show enough discipline when we had a two goal lead. Going 3-1 up right at the start of the second half the three points should have been ours, but we were sloppy and didn't concentrate and ended up with only a point when we should have had three.

Leeds Act Over Peej Rumours
Leeds Wednesday and their players today issued a stiff warn to manager Peej to make his decision over his future involvement at the club clear after reports stated that Peej would leave "when the JFL league is over" and would leave Leeds managerless. Leeds striker Ricardo mentioned "It is not nice to know whther you're form now will carry on into the next season. We could be playing for our places now, or have to start over with a new manager. I think the boys are downheartened that he doesn't just tell the board and get this over with" Peej was unavailable for comment.
The JFL has vowed to act upon request from Leeds and issue Peej with a warning if he does not resolve the situation when he returns from holiday.
JFL Opens The Hot-Seats For New Managers
Today the JFL announced that four managers positions will most probably be available at the end of the current season. Currently Peterborough Athletic and Wigan City are manager-less and rumours are rife that Peej will either be sacked or will quit come September 22nd. JonnyFFmaster is also tipped to leave FC Mersey as he will be otherwise engaged from September onwards.
The JFL has mentioned that these positions will be open to current managers, but also urged new coaches to come forward and take on the challenge. Executive Director Jake Johnson today said "The JFL would like current managers to see the vancanies as oppurtunities and fresh challenges, but we would also urge current managers to find new managers to take part in Season 2 of the JFL"
The JFL has put forward plans to create a campaign to grab the attention of new managers and create a full league of taken teams by the new season.

It is with sadness that I must announce that I will be leaving the club mid-october. I hope to see this season through well, and maybe even start the next season, depending on which way the board decides to go. Next 5 games are cup finals for Mersey
Speaking in a recent press confrence, Mersey manager Jonnyffmaster had this to say: "Recently, we havn't been preforming. We've slipped up on the last two games and where lucky to come away with even a point. With only 5 games to go, it's looking more and more like the run in will be like a group of cup finals. We're pretty much going to have to win them all. With Bristol and Glasgow playing eachother on weeks 17 and 18, it give's us a chance. As long as we can pick up a good 3 point's by then, I think there's every chance we could beat them to the post and snatch the title from under their noses. However, if we're even going to think about that, we have to win the next game or two. As long as we do that, we have a great chance to sneak in this year and finally bring the cup back to Mersey."
Offical statment.
If there is any way i can stay as manager as in over e-mail or msn, id be glad to stay.
Otherwise im sorry that ill have to leave the club.

I felt we could've played better in the lague game, we lacked commitment and drive. It looked like the players had given up on the league, which is an attitude i am very dissapointed with. Even though it seems we don't have to much to play for i expect my players to be 100% commited to winning in every match they play in. Bristol are a good side and we would have done well to get a result, but it is really the attitude of players i'm upset with.
The cup game was totally different, we played well, worked hard and made our extra quality count. I'm delighted to have had such an excellent cup run, it gives the fans something to cheer about as our league form has been inconsistent and our campaign has been pretty average. The cup final will be a great day out for players, staff and fans alike, and we have a great chance of getting into Europe which would be fantastic for the club.

Glasgow go top as Bristol falter at home
In Wednesday's round of JFL matches Glasgow United returned to the top with a great 6-2 win over JFL whipping-boys Peterborough. The team they replaced - FC Bristol - lost 3-2 at home to the increasingly impressive London North, who desptire their 'relegation' tag are still not out of the title race. At the other end the bottom four lost and stayed 'as is' with only their goal differences altering. Stockport's win put them out of contention for relegation, with only a mathimatical miricale will take them down. Peterborough reamin favourites to go down with Wigan and Birmingham still battling to get out of the play-off place. Leeds could still be sucked in as they are only 5 points clear of them.

I am very happy the team has recaptured our form. I am very pleased with the teams heart going into the closing end of the season, and hope we can finish as strong as we started. We really need to win both our next tqwo games to keep us on par on the last day. With Glasgow and Bristol playing each other on the last two game's, it give's us a great chance to sneak in and steal the title from under Glasgow and Bristols noses. We will be watching glasgow closely, as the title still is in their own hands.

Edinburgh Secure Promotion To JFL Premier Division
Glasgow's Scottish rivals Edinburgh City secured automatic promotion to the Premier Division this weekend with a cool 3-1 win over fellow promotion chasers Sheffield Rovers. The JFL last saw them play against Glasgow in the JFL Cup and they put up a good fight, so more excitment will be expected in their first term in the top flight.
and......
Peej Quits Leeds
Peej has resigned as manager of Leeds Wednesday on the grounds that he feels he is not able to fufil the aims and goals of the job. Most will not be surprised by the news as Peej has been under pressure recently due to successful Leeds' poor season. The Leeds board had this to say: "Peej was a good manager, but he did not bring the success we crave. The fans vented their feelings on this and we were close to reacting to their demands, but Peej beat us to it. Some would believe that Peej resigned only hours before being given the bullet. Leeds now face the task of avoiding the relegation play-off without a manager.
Glasgow Move Nearer To Title Success
Cap'n Zola's Glasgow United moved a step closer to lifting the JFL Title as they overcame a brave Wigan City to go 4 points clear with only two games to go. Glasgow's last two games are against title rivals FC Bristol. They will only need one point from those games if they win their next game against managerless Leeds.

general comment: our next match is must win, especially as we have a game in hand on the 2 teams below us. if we win, we've pretty much secured our survival in the JFL and it may bring us closer to Leeds Wednesday. It's even more important as we are playing Wigan, the team below us. lose and our situation will become desperate. win, however, and our last game against Leeds could mean an extra few £s of spending money

Without a manager for one day, Leeds Wednesday today recieved an official application for the role of manager from Evil Egg. Leeds have yet to reply, but it is understood that Evil Egg will be willing to take control now or at the end of the season. Leeds needed a point this afternoon against Glasgow United to avoid the relegation/promotion play-off.
Hill Talks Of Faith At Leeds
Leeds Wednesday star midfileder David Hill has spoken out about the current situation at the club. Ex-JFL Champions Leeds find themselves close to relegation and without a manager, but - according to Hill - morale is still high and they believe they can aviod the drop. "We have a great squad and we can play, but a bad start to the season took us down a few pegs and it has been hard for us to clamber back. We are looking to get this season over and start anew in Season 2 with a new manager and the same great spirit - hopefully giving the fans something to cheer about on the way."

JFL Week 17
FC Bristol 2 - 1 Glasgow United
John Portman helped FC Bristol inflict the first defeat of the season onto title-rivals Glasgow United. Glasgow took the lead in the 17th minute when Sergei fed van de Bruggin who returned the pass for Sergei to smash home. After the break Portman fired in a surperb 25-yard free-kick after Kappo had hauled down Kaprier. The atmosphere was extremely intense at Le Stade 2000 as a win would have handed Glasgow the title. But Bristol held on strong and won it late on as Miguel took out Strong in the area as he looked to score. The Spaniard was sent-off and Portman put Bristol in the lead of both the game and the title race.
Leeds Wednesday 0 - 2 FC Mersey
Roque again was the star of the Mersey show as they took the points easily from a Leeds side already looking towards next season. Roque was played throough by Victor early on but hit the upright. He later rectififed that miss as he dummied past El Hadj and thundered in a shot from 30-yards. Leeds had their best chance as Hill flashed a free-kick wide, but Roque went on to round the keeper and finish the game with 15 minutes remaining.
Wigan City 0 - 1 Birmingham South
Lucas sealed the points over relegation-rivals Wigan with a typically scrappy goal. The ball was played in by de Rossi, deflected off of Oliver Jean and hit Lucas on the way in. It was an embarassing way for Wigan to finish their home roster, but they can expect to be one of the favourties for the League One Ttitle next season. For Birmingham, the close-shave of relegation has passed for this year at least.

JFL Braces Itself For Explosive End
This Wednesday marks the end of the JFL's first season with many end possibilities available. FC Bristol have the title in their hands as they need to avoid defeat away to Glasgow, who, if they win, will take the title. If the two draw, FC Mersey can snatch an unlikely title win, if they win. Their opponents, Wigan City, will need three points if they are to avoid automatic relegation, but are still in the relegation play-off's. Peterborough will be relegated, no doubt, automatically if they do not win. London North have already secured their EFA Trophy spot and will look to give fresh players a run about before the JFL Cup Final, as will FC Reading, neither in relegation or european battle. Stockport will be looking to put as much distance between the relegation fight and themselves, if not for the sake of the records, but for morale. Birmingham will be breathing a sigh of relief as they are clear of the threat of relegation for their last game.

Stockport FC Press Conference
It is with great sadness that I have to stand down as manager of Stockport FC. This is due to other commitments that have become increasingly demanding.
This is a truly great club with a truly great squad of professionals and supporters, and it is with regret that I am leaving for my own reasons.
The caretaker will do a first class job between now and the end of the season and I fully support his interim appointment.
The chairman and I feel this to be the best course of action.
I hope the media will now allow the club to fully concentrate on the remaining fixtures of this season while the chairman works to appoint my successor.
I met with the chairman and decided it was in the club's best interests to part company.
The chairman asked me to sign a new contract in the summer and he asked me again several times during the last few months.
I told him that I would not be signing. He asked me several times to reconsider and he has been absolutely fantastic.
The effect this is having on the players is negative, as can be seen by our last results. This is why I have taken this action.
We hoped to keep it quiet until the end of the season but it was leaking out so we have been forced to say something.
I wish the club, and the league the best of luck, and must thank the league and other managers for the games and entertainment that they produced.

Leeds Wednesday Managerial Announcement
It is with great pride that I officially announce that I will be taking control of Leeds Wednesday for the for the forthcoming season. My aim will be to return Leeds to where they truely belong at the top of the table, and also into Europe. I ontend to return Leeds to glory days, and we will once again be a club which people speak of in fear. I look forward to the new season and competing against some of the greatest footballing minds the world has to offer.

FC Mersey To Wait Until JFL Cup Final To Annouce New Manager
Today managerless FC Mersey revealed that they will be taking a further two days to consider applicants for the hot-seat. This is heating up the debate that they are moving for Dingbat of London North, but Mersey also have dogincognito and Streety waiting in the wings as they have officially applied for the job. A Mersey spokesman said: "We are simply deeply discussing the applicants for the managers job. We do not want to make a rash decision, we want to take our time choosing the right man to lead us forward." The media reports have suggested that Dingbat will attempt to win the JFL Cup Final as a goodbye gift for London North, but they also say a new candidate could be emerging before the official announcement Wednesday.
JFL Welcomes EvilEgg
The JFL would like to welcome the newest manager, EvilEgg, to the game. He takes over thr reigns at Leeds Wednesday and hopes to steer them away from the abismal 7th place of last season to more respectable heights. "My aim will be to return Leeds to where they truely belong at the top of the table, and also into Europe." EvilEgg was seen as the best replacement for Peej who was sacked late last season. "[Leeds] will once again be a club which people speak of in fear. I look forward to the new season and competing against some of the greatest footballing minds the world has to offer."
What about me wanting to take over Edinburgh City.

What about me wanting to take over Edinburgh City.
Two things:
1. Give 'em time! They need to decide if they really want the manager who just abandoned his team at their time of need or not.
2. Nobody really cares about you. :)

Draw Reaction: Well, it's possibly a kind draw for us, but we start away by the looks of it, and also these kind of teams can be unknown quantities. We'll need to scout them and make sure we get the job done. However, the draw will concern our club after tonight's match.

JFL Cup Final Build-Up
Today marks the first of - hopefully - many JFL Cup Finals as London North take on FC Reading at 7pm tonight. We start with the.......
Route To The Final
London North
2nd Round
Birmingham South 2 - 3 London North
London North managed to beat off Birmingham South in their first obstacle 'en-route' to the final. They managed to find themselves 2-0 down after 56 minutes. But London were inspired by van Hooven. His assist set up Schultz for 2-1, he scored the equaliser and in extra time was involved in the slick passing that lead to Webster's winning goal. Birmingham were unlucky, but simply failed to hold a lead.
Dingbat: "Absolutely delighted with the lads. We were in the biggest game and we managed to pull out an away win from somewhere. Very glad to be through to the next round, and I was happy to see Andreas get more involved too. Bring on round 3!"
Quarter-finals
London North 2 - 1 FC Mersey
London played the game of their lives to keep out favrouties FC Mersey, who missed a penalty at 1-1. It was a reverse of the JFL fixture, but was just as good for the London fans. After going 1-0 down after 2 minutes, London again had to come from behind, but did so well. It looked like going to a replay: a game London could have done without. van Hooven, however, intervened and was clattered by the Mersey keeper and slotted away a 90th minute penalty for the Semi-final spot.
Dingbat: "I'm absolutely delighted with the lads - they gave 110% out there, and we fully deserved the win. Credit to Mersey - they played well, and were unlucky to miss a penalty, but Mendoza as always was brilliant, as was Marc. As for the issue of whether or not they were in fact penalties, there was no question - Marc was clean through and he was clattered into, and I think Giovanni did commit a foul as well. Overall, great stuff."
Semi-final
Glasgow United 1 - 3 London North
London North booked their final appearance from coming from behind again and also ending Glasgow Uniteds unbeaten run. van Hooven was instrumental again as he scored one and assited in the other two. London went behind after 55 minutes thanks to inform Galsgow striker van de Bruggin: his pass set up Sergei. But his luck ended their as he failed to convert a penalty to double the lead. This inspired London who then scored 2 minutes after the miss and then went on to score to late goals (82' and 90') from Valley and Maxim. they deserved to go through with a performance like that.
Dingbat: "I was extremely pleased to get our revenge and knock my home town club out of the Cup. The lads are well up for it now, so we can concentrate on the league knowing we have something to look forward to."
FC Reading
2nd Round
FC Reading 1 - 0 London South
FC Reading's JFL Cup run ironically began with, and will end with, them playing a London side. Fresh from a 6-0 1st Round win, London South looked confident and they carried the form into the game. FC Reading knew that the Londerners would not be a rollover and took the game very seriously - hitting the woodwork twice. London gave as good as they got and hit the post. FC Reading were, in the end, too powerful for London as a good spell of pressure got them an 83rd minute del Rosa winner.
dogincognito: (Posted no comment)
Quarter-finals
FC Reading 3 - 1 Wigan City
Jarrell was the star of the show as Reading easily overcame wigan to secure a semi-final spot. He put Reading in the lead, but the game was soon on level-oegging again as Wigan equalied inside 3 minutes. Jarrell then terrorised the Wigan defence and earned a penalty, which he scored from the rebound. He shot was saved for the corner from which Pattitolli scored the 3rd goal.
dogincognito: "a solid performance from the lads today, we seem to be finding our stride and geling as a team so i think we could have a good run."
Semi-final
FC Reading 3 - 1 Leeds Wednesday
Reading secured their place in the final with a fine win over the unfancied Leeds Wednesday, although Leeds did put up a fine first-half battle. Jarrell got his place in the recordbooks becoming the first player to score a hat-trick in the JFL Cup Semi-finals. His fine display blew away Leeds and we can expect him to fight with Londn's defence for a sniff of a goal tonight.
dogincognito: "we played well, worked hard and made our extra quality count. I'm delighted to have had such an excellent cup run, it gives the fans something to cheer about as our league form has been inconsistent and our campaign has been pretty average. The cup final will be a great day out for players, staff and fans alike, and we have a great chance of getting into Europe which would be fantastic for the club."
Danger Men
van Hooven (London North)
Has been the main stirker of London cup-run as he inspired the team to their trademark comeback style. He managed to grab important goals that turnt the game and feed other players for goals that secured a place in the next round. reading may have problems dealing with him as he isnt always looking for a shot on goal, he is also looking to play in others.
Jarrell (FC Reading)
His hat-trick scured the Final spot and also showed London North what to expect. Coming into the final as Reading's top scorer, he can be relied uopn to grab any chance that comes his way. Defenders find him hard to handle and often end up given a penalty if not a goal-socring opportunity.
Webster (London North)
Staked his claim for a starting place in the Final team as he thumped home a final-day hat-trick in a new look London side. He is quick to react to knock downs from target men and can also play others in with a fine final ball.
Joel (FC Reading)
Has kept Reading in the game with some fine saves throughout the tournament. He is agile and can reach some other shots that many cannot. Can be relied upon to keep a cool head in one-on-one situations, which could be vital with van Hooven and Webster playing for the opposition.

Cup Final Reaction: Highlight of my management career. Best game I've seen all season and we thoroughly deserved this today. I'd like to thank all the fans, all my players and staff, and the board. I'd also like to confirm that I was approached by FC Mersey regarding their vacant managerial position, and that I have turned down the contract offered in favour of staying here at London North. We can improve on this and perhaps retain it too. Thank you.
