Thank you to the colonel for moving this ;)

"Birmingham have signed Liverpool striker Emile Heskey for an initial fee of £3.5m, which could rise to £6.25m.

The striker, who is in England's squad for Euro 2004, has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at St Andrews." (BBC Sport)

I dont know if there are many Birmingham fans out there, I know there are a few Liverpool fans out there, what do you lot think?

Heskey was signed for £11,000,000 by Liverpool from Leciester City. With that tag he was Liverpool's record-signing. He scored 60 goals in 277 appearances

Do you think that he has served Liverpool well? Did he ever fulfil his £11m transfer from Leciester? Are you glad to see the back of him?

Personally - not being a Liverpool fan - I think it is a good move for him, but not for Birmingham. Ok, it shows that they have the ability and appeal to lure top-end Premiership players rather than up-and-coming players, but I think that he will not be suited to their style of play. Steve Bruce said of the transfer: ""This is an absolutely fantastic signing for the club - I am really excited [...] To pull off a signing like this is quite remarkable and I am really excited to add Emile to the squad for next season. Hopefully, he will be the first of several high-profile signings that we will be making this summer."

For Heskey it is a good move because he will be a star for theBirmingham team rather that being among stars and a move will raise his profile. It will probably cement his position in the England squad as well.

What do you think?

I think he should have gone because he isnt good enough for liverpool.

i agree, it was time for him to move on, but he was horribly underrated as a player. People didnt realise his role was as backup to owen, and not an out and out striker. He was definatly good enough to wear the hallowed red shirt, and i shall be sad to see him go

i think it was right for both him and liverpool. with the arrival of cisse he knew he wasnt gonna get a game - and as a out and out striker he is pretty handy... at birmingham he will be in his preferred role instead of all over the place (including winger on a number of occasions)

I think that it is a good move for him and the club.
With the impending transfer of Cisse, he wouldn't play as often and I personally don't think that he is the sort of player that can come on and score you a goal. No doubt he works hard for the team but he is just not fulfilling his potential. He has all the attributes of a world class player but he reacts badly to criticism. When he first signed for us, there was no pressure on him. He banged in loads of goals and looked really promising. After a few bad matches for the national team he has shrink to half the man he was.

Good luck to him. We will miss the big man.
