Have you heard any conspiracy theories lately? Are they true or just a load of old anoraks making up stuff because they have nothing better to do? Feel free to discuss it here.

:weebl:

Does the fluoride in our water supplies have a side effect that keeps our intelligence low and our money spending high?

Tripple J (ABC radio station) had a large debate like this, with experts. The thing is that people like you or I may have a different idea of what a conspieresy theory is. The experts have their definition of one, it's very complex, and basically using their definition it's very hard for those types of theories to be correct, because to them it's more of a psycological type thing, where you meet ciritin critrea (which i dangerously fall under) to become a theorist and basically their type of C.T is where someone basically has a belive in something, almost as strong as a religion, based without fact, and this person can manipulate any counter-argument to prove themselves correct. Effectively, we'll use your example (it actually originally is this:) "Fluride, developed by the nazis (even though it's natural i know) is in the water supply to dumb down the population in order to pave the way for an easier rule" -> now there is very little fact in this, and the person whom qualifies will state this as though it is fact. When anything logical is mentioned they will either claim you have drunk too much water and therefore have been brainwashed or something else along those lines.
I can post more later if people wish for me to clarify my most probably incohearant points :)

Pah I don't believe any of that, I reckon you've drank too much flourinated water!

If it does, imagine how utterly brilliant I could have been...

I found this (http://members.aol.com/subseven/tupac.html) website which claims that Tupac is still alive and faked his death.

I saw some random conspiratorial expert type bloke on the Terry and Gaby Show t'uther day, he came out with a great answer when asked if wondering about conspiracies wasn't just paranoia: "Paranoia is just a heightened sense of awareness" :D Made me smile.

You should here half of polish people, who see jews everywhere. Our president is jewish (his real name is Feliks Schtolzmann, ha!), 9 out of 10 of our prime ministers are jews (the real name of one of them is Shymio Bukvo), 99% politicians are jews, most of the people you see on tv are jews, all businessman are jews, the biggest polish newspaper is jewish (and a few others), hah, even our head archbishop guy is jewish (you can tell by his ears, just look at them, jewish as hell!)!

And of course all that jews want to do is to strip the hard working citizens of Poland from every single dime they posses.

Call me crazy Reddig, but I think that you might be jewish but you don't know it yet.

:weebl_lo:

I am deeply suspicious of the moon landing. All the films and photographs seem a little too perfect to have been taken by a man in a giant space suit. Then there's the whole issue of all that dangerous solar radiation...
Anyway something stinks.
Either the whole thing was a fake, they faked the photos and film footage because the originals were crap or the American government is the craziest, most irresponsible group of people I can think of...

In the moon landing they couldn't fit the buggy in actually so it was faked aha!!!!!!!!!!!

Every 'question' about the moon landing I've heard has been easily answered. I don't believe it was faked.

...
Blimey, that was a bit brief for me

Great bit of racisist stereotyping there. You fucking idiot. I don't even care if you where joking.

Jewish as hell eh? Jewish people dont belive in hell you stupid motherfucker.

People like you should shut the fuck up.

Errr... me? Um... I am not sure if you understood me, but it was supposed to be ironical. And I've noted down, that it's some people arround me saying that stuff, not exactly me.

If this makes you happier, I am partly a jew - not much though, it's only my grandma's dad.

Another thing - Jewish people believe in hell, heaven and all that. They believe in the same god as the christians. As far as I know they have different rituals, and don't believe in Jesus being a God's son (only a prophet).

Next time I'll write a post i'll make two versions - one for everyone, and another one for Spooneh, with an explanation of what is supposed to be funny, what is for real, and what do the more complicated words actually mean.

It was my Jewish housemate that read your post and found it offensive. He pointed out that Judaism doesnt not believe in hell as such.

You obviously know very little about the religion. 'Being Jewish' is passed down the female line. To be considered Jewish your mother would be Jewish.

Claiming that you are part Jewish gives you no excuse to make jokes using Jewish sterotypes. Why where you making a joke in a debate thread and what did it have to do with conspiracy theories?

I ,like many people, dont find racist sterotypes amusing.

"and what do the more complicated words actually mean."

You seem to be questioning my inteligence and my ability to understand words. This coming from the person who just invented the term "ironical".

I will not continue to argue with you, im sorry i started ,i have reported your post to the mods. Let's leave it to there judgement shall we?

EDIT: What you where trying to get at and the irony of what you where saying in relation to consiparcy theories has been explained to me. I apologise for the outburst but i still feel that racial sterotypes should be dealt with very carefully. My friend still did find it offensive and thats what prompted my reply.

Sure, why not. I wasn't the one who was calling people "fucking idiot".

If your jewish friend says that jews don't believe in hell, then maybe it is so. I didn't know, i thought otherwise. I thought that Jews take their dogmas from the Old Testament (apart from other things), and i was convinced, that the existance of heaven and hell has been noted there. If it wasn't - i'm sorry for the mistake then. I also didn't want to offend your jewish friend, or anyone else in fact. As I see it - neither of you noticed the words "you should hear what half of Poles say".

I know that being jewish is passed down the female line. That's why I said, that the last jewish person in my family was my grandma's dad.

I wasn't joking of Jews, I hardly ever do, if at all, and i rather won't. I hate anti-semitism, I was brought up hating anti-semitism. This even wasn't a joke (although it was ment to be ironical) - I've just mentioned, that a lot of Poles see Jews everywhere (the president, the prime ministers and so on), and they think, that Jews are the reason of all the bad things that happen in Poland. And that does fit into a "conspiracy therories" thread.

I've just checked "ironical" in a polish-english dictionary.

ironical - a ironiczny.

I don't understand then what's wrong with the term "ironical".

As i said my post was made far to quickly without considering properly the tone of your post. In that respect i am guilty, also the use of the word ironical is indeed fine allthough i would have said "i was being ironic".

I hope you can except my apology and understand my quick and harsh reaction was partly to do with the recent spate of racism that seems to have cropped up on the forums.

I now understand what you have written and shouldn't have insulted you, i should have perhaps asked for clarification before "going off on one".

I hope you now consider the matter resolved.

it's okay redding he just missunderstood your first post, and you were very clear to me anyway, so dont fret :)
BTW i did find it ironic that a place which hated the nazis as much as the poles seemed to could then adopt some of their ideals :)

opps i posted a little late.

Naturaly i accept your appology. The problem is - although I know english quite well and i feel ok to use it, it's not my home language. Therefore some of my posts may seem to mean something different that I intended them to, especialy today - right now I am ill, I have a high temperature, and i'm on some anti-pain medicine, so i have problems with concentration and all that. But since we've got everything straightened out I see no problem anymore.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: The issue of Poles being anti-jewish is a bit more complicated. The reason for that is the communistic actions from just after the war, and the anti-semit propaganda from the later years. This state unfortunatelly lasted untill today, and a lot of poles are very against Jews (of course not in the way as nazis were).

And one more thing - It's Reddig, not ReddiNg. Without the "n". Why is it that people always write it "Redding"? Too much fallout or what?

Aparantly 'ironical' is an Americanisation (sp!) which is why i didn't recognise i!

Ironical is in the Goerge Bush dictionary along with fascinating words like "misunderestimated" and "disintensify".

Mr Bush is also notorious for having the lowest IQ out of all of America's presidents.
To be brutally accurate he has an IQ of 90 which is the same as a extremely talented gorilla.

That Polish stereotyping and paranoia about the Jews sounds frighteningly similar to Nazi Germany. I'm not calling you a Nazi, Reddig, just noticing the similarities in popular attitudes.

Here in Texas, the conspriacy theory is that the Mexicans are trying to take over everything in the U. S. by outbreeding all other races. Added into that is the common misconception that illegal immigrants are pouring into the country in hordes and droves.

All poppycock, of course, but a popular misconception for sure.

Oh there are asylum seekers heading into britain so fast immigration can't count em, soon we'll all be asylum seekers. Just the same as there were immigrants entering the country several years ago...

It's a wonder we have any white folk left, what with this incessant incoming stream of darkies. </racist idiot>.

A guy I knew started complaining without a hint of irony about immigrants coming over and stealing your jobs. I said to him "you don't even have a job!". He's an idiot, I tore strips off his argument in front of girls, my job was done well.

Maybe if started training assylum seekers for jobs in the NHS and kill two birds with one stone.

Anyway at least we don't have shanty towns popping up outside the major cities like they do in Milan and Rio.

I find the ongoing asylum debate here in the UK weird as it has historically been ok for the British to head of to wherever it is they feel like going in droves.

I think its hard to debate the asylum seeker issue properly as I don't believe the government is totally honest and tabloids such as the Daily Mail don't exactly help. No one can give an exact number of asylum seekers or illegal immigrants currently in the UK. What I think people have to ask before they start getting paranoid is if the genuine asylum seekers actually want to be here. How would anyone like to have to leave everythink you own (especially your PC) and rush off to another country that is totally different culturally. It can't be easy.

I don't think it is good for any community to have a sudden influx of thousands of asylum seekers as it can lead to suspicion and resentment and sometimes outright rascism but I do think we in the UK should be proud that we have a country that others would like to live in. We must be doing something right. Don't take the piss and buy up all the 3 for 2 offers in Sainsburys when you get here though.
