I see the forums suddenly have adverts. Look:
And, no, I don't have any Adware/Spyware.

Lol, you haven't checked hard enough for Spyware.
They don't appear for me, on any of my PC's.
I don't have any using Opera though, maybe that's got something to with it.

They were announced yesterday or the day before I believe:

Don't moan about them, as they are one of the things keeping the forums and sites going.
Also, dont click on any ads that dont interest you, as the banner server itself picks up the most frequently clicked banners and automatically assigns more similar banners to this site.

I get them using I.E. and in accordance with the post above their supposed to be there, so I'd say theres something wrong with your P.C. if you aint seeing them.

Hmm, they seem to be slowing the forums down a bit, the page takes about 2 seconds to load here after it's changes pages as it contacts serveby.adserve.com (or similar) but without them the forums wouldnt be here, so I suppose it doesn't matter :p

I'm confused.
He complains about the ads in the forums and yet he uses the ad-supported version of Opera.
Strange...

Maybe it's just because he didn't think ads would be around for whatever reason. Since they just appeared, perhaps he thought it was some form of spyware, which could be something to worry about.
To answer your question, there's nothing to worry about. It's not spyware, the administrators just added ads to be able to support the website. Maybe it makes it slower or more cluttered, but would you rather have slow forums, or no forums?

Well they weren't there yesterday.
Now I'm getting a black outline, no actual advert appearing, but the outline is coming up now.
