Metallica is one of my favurite bands, but I hate St:Anger and everything else they've made since ~2000.
Too bad Jason was replaced with the bass-abusing monkey they have now, and the fact that James voice is ruined.
Around -92 they truly rocked, now they truly suck.

Pie3, it's spelt Weebl...

But anyway, yeah I think Metallica are OK. I love half their songs, but hate the other half!

By the way are you any relation of Pie2? ( I don't know how to make the 2 small, but you get the idea)

Metallica rules all, I must admit. And don't jump on Smeagle. He was trying to help. He was right.

i luv 'tallica :) St. Anger is a good album when you put it in context, but its definately their weakest this side of Kill 'em All (and Reload :/)

St. Anger is just different to their other albums. Its more concentrated on drums and riffs than their other stuff.

yup. they are teh bestest. :nana:

as for Rob Trujilo (sp?), he also reminds me of dr Zoidberg. funny crap walk he does. must hurt his legs. either way I love the new stuff. only thing I dont like and I think is what others also take the wrong way is that its not nearly "clean" enough. the recording quality sounds crappy in some places and it was made like that for effect. but I think most people hear it as "eewwwwwwww ickky. this is poo!" ;)

asides, its tops. :D ONE is the best song ever :nana: :nana:

Yes, the Metal Lica is good. I rocked out to them since I was around the young age of 8ish. Bought all of their CD's, my favorites are really anything before Black Album, the Black Album was more like the bandwagon like hey! "Enter Sandman" come on everybody listen to metallica its "cool"....which was annoying, the song is good but its not THAT good....*cough* anyhow....I still love them today, their old music is classic, alot of the newer stuff needs to be sifted through to get the good stuff, there are some good tunes on St. Anger, but the CD in general is definetly in their bottom 3 CD's. They try and play all different genres of music, and its a good thing, you can pop in a CD ( or vinyl ) and listen to them regardless of the mood you are in, because they have it all...

I was just disappointed Kirk Hammet didn't display his guitar capabilties on the newest cd because record labels tell the artists that "guitar solos are out" *spit*

The first few Metallica albums were top notch but St.Anger is THE biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard.

The lyrics are immature, childish and have barely any meaning. The recording quality is TERRIBLE. The riffs all sound like (or worse) than Korn riffs. The drums are friggin AWFUL. There is not ONE guitar solo on the whole album? WTF is that?

Seriously, first time a friend played it to me I REALLY thought it was a new Korn album till the singing kicked in (and I used to like Korn so I know very well their style).

whats wrong with koRn?

their old stuff? nothing. untouchables is a bit poo. not my faves, it seems that the old bands are trying to appeal to the younger folks. i aint exactly old. 16 come on. but it seems that they are moifying their styles to appeal to them, sacrificing quality for record sales. which in my opinion sucks ass.

soz 4 being agressive back there. jst really annoys me

on the KoRn subject, 'Life is Peachy' is still the best album, still untouched by most who jumped on the bandwagon. 'Here to Stay' is the best thing they've done since then, I can't say I'm that interested though.

Mettalica now...

They did that song.

'One'

And then made the mistake of doing nothing even close as good for the rest of their career ;)

'tallica kick ass - and personally, i love all their stuff that i've heard, yup, even St Anger.
i don't have either of the 'Loads' yet, but from what i have heard from 'em i've liked, especially Fuel.

Master of Puppets is still their best in my opinion though.

side note: gonna see 'em in December, at Earls Court, on the 19th.
was gonna be the 20th but they sold out on the first day, so they added the second date (19th) which i'm assuming has probably sold out now too.

I've only heard 2 songs by Metallica:

"Enter Sandman" and "St. Anger"

I like them both but never heard any other songs from them.

...Metallica aren't bad, but i prefer their orchestra songs to their heavy ones.

'No Leaf Clover' and 'Nothing Else Matters.'

Both excellent songs done by them.

metallica are one of the greatest bands ever. yes its true that st anger is their worst album, but thankfully they have a ton more and prefer to play stuff off those albums more:nana:

at reading this year dont forget they did only play 2 songs off st anger, those being the 2 singles currently released/planned to be released.

im just glad i got ticket for the friday 19th december show in london:D and i will catch them when they play full uk tour next year;) :D

korn were an awesome band. untouchables sucks major balls though. i was so dissapointed when i got it after hearing "here to stay". hopefully the new album will be better, though hopes aint too high:(

I'll probably get massively flamed for this, but I personally can't stand most of Metallica's stuff. I liked "Enter Sandman". That's about it. I don't quite know why either. Just something about the lead singer's voice rubs me the wrong way.
Also, what little respect I had for Metallica was lost after the whole Napster incident. That was rediculious. The members of Metallica are multi-millionares. They do not exactly need the extra money from the c.d. sales. I could understand an up and coming band who haven't really made it in the music business being angry that people were downloading mp3's and taking away from their record sales, but come on. Metallica??? You can tell they're doing it for the money, rather than the music now.

FLYBUYF1

Metallica didnt do that over the money so much. it was just the idea of EVERYONES music being stolen. and it wasnt just them that took napster on either. many other bands were with them but backed out like chicken shits when the fans got angry. pussies.

I Love St Anger and I dont care what you think. I like there old stuff even more though. I hope they learn from St Anger though and the next cd shall be better. :) I dont think that metallica can make many more albums. I think probably 2 more possibly 3 tops. and lets hope they go out with one big mother fucker bang. :D

quite clearly, if you don't like the vocals, listen to call of cthulu. 'tis the only piece of metal music more atmospheric than the intro to "seasons in the abyss" by slayer. it rocks, in other words.

it's difficult to pinpoint their peak. their musical style progressed as the band grew older. i think now they're getting weary with the outrage that was so apparant in their earlier work. they try to deny it by calling their album "st anger", but they're fooling themselves. their current stuff sounds no better than most new bands at the moment. they suffer from the loss of guitar solos; kirk's talent is going to waste.

just so there's no confusion, 's actually spelt "The Call of Ktulu".

another good 'tallica instrumental is "Orion". :)
