Yes I am back, and killing myself with Part 20 stuff. Working on the interactive PDA menus.... every little detail counts..... and when you add it all up this work in progress has at least taken 2 hours to make:

The first of a few PDA Menu's is done. I was going to add the weapons section at the bottom, but its not needed so I left it off. With an addition of a UAC logo it is complete:

My next project is getting this loading screen done, the faint red outline over the rune symbol is a goat skull incase you couldn't tell. This is far from finished:

Ok after 2 hours of messing around shading, and deleting partial shading and starting over, I have just begun to lay out the bone structure. No effects, blood, etc, just the rigid structure to put everything else on.... and after 2 hours I have barely scratched the surface..... 2 hours....

You may be wondering why I keep posting not even near completion pictures up over and over. In my own little mind I think it is important to post up the step by step of a small peice of Part 20 so people know what I do to make this animation. Maybe it will help some understand why it takes so long, when I put this much time into just a loading screen. Or for others they might learn something about Fireworks, who knows. It could be as simple as people might enjoy watching something take shape. Maybe my odd reasoning will make more sense after the animation comes out.

I wanna know what you use to draw the lines, and how you make them look so good, like, as a drawing as a whole.

Do you draw it on paper? Scan it? Free Hand it? Something else?

Well it depends on what we are talking about, if your talking the outline and the little detail lines that I go by its the vector line tool, and the vector freeform tool. The rest is all shading using the bitmap brush tool. As you can see in the last image I removed the lines (well just clicked the eye and hid them) because they have served their purpose. As far as the lines go for the rune behind the skull those are black lines using the vector line tool and vector shape tool. Then with a heavy texture on the bitmap brush tool I made the red glow if you will. Hope that helps, if I misunderstood let me know and I will try to clarifiy.

edit: God I wish I had a scanner to get some of my hand drawn stuff in, or even better a tablet.

You trying to say Satanic Goat Skulls don't bring joy and happiness to children everywhere? lol. As far as this is compared to the Hell Loading Screen I am thinking about going a different route than adding the tan/skinish tones that it has. It also has some other weird additions that I really don't like. I am going to touch this up and add some more blood areas and maybe call it done. I really like the "real skull look" this has.

As far as this being a Doom 3 mod, sorry to say no it isn't. This is a loading screen for a W&B based fan animation (even better maybe than a mod maybe?) that has taken the characters to a UAC style complex. Heres to Satanic Goat skulls spreading joy to the world :D .

Thing is the tire actually wasn't flat. We aired down (me personally to 15 PSI) before hitting the trail. So the tire has a lot more flex with less air in it. That is just showing how much the sidewall on the tire is flexing with it actually being pushed underneath itself.

The tire was far enough off the ground for him to scoot under, and before so we did a quick test pusing down on the montero to see if it would go down on him. Definetly not something I would do...but if you knew Steven you would understand.

Interesting, odd, and out of place things seem to be going on in here... oh well. I use Macromedia Fireworks for all the graphic design. And I use Macromedia Flash for the animation. I put Part 20 on hold to work on an animation with a buddy of mine (LogoPresents). You might know him from his series TooF. This side project has reminded me how much of a pain in the ass it is to get stuff from fireworks into flash. Makes me remember why Part 20 takes so looong.

So those of you understand the severity of the Fireworks to Flash dillema let me put it this way. If you shade anything with any textures, use any filters, or shade with colors other than black or white it won't convert into flash correctly. That means high detail stuff I make in Fireworks has to be down graded and wiggled into flash in weird and long strung out ways. Bleh. But yes part 20 will be out soon enough... damn you macromedia....

(as far as the noob thing about them posting in here...at one time it got so bad that I had to PM Jonti about it and get his help.... I don't think its getting too out of hand.... so lets just hope the provided assitance posted by others avoids more of such stupidity)

Glad to see someone still looking forward too it. :) I actually need 2 beta testers for this animation. It will be graphic intensive and I want to test for lag, and 2 I want input feedback on things as I go along. I always believe outside opinions are very valuable. My old outside opinions (Fox, Zekey, Bluehippo) are all hard to get ahold of these days (or are on when I am not I guess). Yeah it sucks really bad. About 200mb worth of graphic design work for the animation down the tubes. That equals to who knows how many hours of work scrapped (hundreds of hours). Anyway.... I tried to PM it you it but your inbox was full, and your email address doesn't seem to be working, so I'll just tell you here. But before I waste a whole bunch of space explaining something that might not even be the problem, could you please tell me if it's PNGs which aren't importing to Flash properly?

Based on the above facts, it has come to my attention that Vista sucks.

Hence why you lost all your work. I'm also sure the fact that you ass raped your own computer must have had something to do with it. Usually condoms melt in extreme heat, usually found on the sun or in your computer, so if there's melted bits of condom in your motherboard, that may be your problem.

Oh! Sandman! I almost forgot! Incase you need to, here's a handy guide to installing Windows Vista!
Step 1 Insert Your Vista DVD
Admire the amazing sparkly label on the DVD, oh wonderful it is! Put the DVD in your DVD drive and let the fun begin. It should be noted that some users have found that unless they specifically state the media for the software they have received Vista on upwards to 4,000 3.5 inch floppies. If anything this has seemed to make the installation process less cumbersome.

Step 2 Install attempt 1
Enter your 20 character serial Key. MAKE SURE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ALL YOUR FILES, PICK 'UPGRADE'. Wait 20 fucking minutes while windows 'scans for compatibility', because apparently it isn't enough that YOU think your system meets the minimum spec, windows has to double check! Once it's done that it'll be able to install, so naturally you think that it will take a few hours, and when it says 'your computer will restart several times during installation' you think that it will be all automatic. No such luck there I'm afraid...

Step 3 WTF? Install attempt 1 (again)
So you come back from watch TV to find that the XP login screen has been there for the last half an hour. But don't worry, it's not that it hasn't work it's just that windows Vista loves to play games. So go restart the installation enter the 20 character serial key again, and wait, once again for compatibility to be checked. Then sit there for an hour, assuming something will go wrong if you don't, while the installer does exactly the same thing all over again. Go on, read a book, play mario on your old gameboy advance SP, only to find the battery has run out while you are playing a level and you can't find the charger anywhere in the fucking house.

Step 4 Progress!
Your computer will restart again, and this time you get a message asking you to press any key to continue. After that, you have to set up the language options, and enter the 20 character serial key BUT WAIT A MINUTE? What's that? I can't pick upgrade anymore? WHAT? So I think I have lost all my files Oh no, wait don't worry they'll all be moved into a folder called windows.old! Of course, how very nice of microsoft to do that for you! Then The installer will do exactly the same as before, slowly going through all the points of installation all over again.

Step 5
Your computer will restart again, and this time you get a message asking you to press any key to continue. After that, you have to set up the language options, and enter the 20 character serial key. The installer will do exactly the same as before, slowly going through all the points of installation all over again.

Step 6
Your computer will restart again, and this time you get a message asking you to press any key to continue. After that, you have to set up the language options, and enter the 20 character serial key. Well Finally THE WELCOME SCREEN COMES UP. So after 8 fucking hours you can actually use windows Vista!

In the process of Vista raping your computer, it stuck it's hand up the anus of your PC and rummaged around in the bowels of your hard drive, moving everything around so you have to move it all back to where you want it. Not only that, but it has managed TO UNINSTALL ALL YOUR SOFTWARE, YET KEEP ALL THE FILES TO MAKE THEM WORK, WHICH ARE NOW OF COURSE ABSOLUTELY FUCKING USELESS AND DO NOTHING BUT TAKE UP HARD DRIVE SPACE!

Dear Customer,

This motherboard can not get Vista logo and the chipset vendor has not supplied driver for Vista to MSI, so we don' t recommend you install Vista on it.
