Has he? I bet you could contact him via the BBC, and I bet he'd be really chuffed.

I wouldn't be chuffed, I'd be mystified ;)

And I don't think good oul Patrick has the emotional capability to feel the emotion of being chuffed :p

Hmmm... Well I'd be chuffed if Weebl & Rob did a cartoon and a song about me!

I always got the impression that Mr Moore is a really nice guy who appreciates a good laugh. I think the 'toon is potrays him with quite a bit of affection. And he really does play the Xylophone, you know.

For you yanks who don't know who Patrick Moore is, you can read about him here...

Well, not any more, so it would seem...

"My wretched spine trouble has put my hands out of action and I can't do anything now."

Aw, that's sad.

It's quite amazing the song he plays considering he never hits any other than the two bars in the middle of the xylophone ;)

Hmmm, as I think about this, it makes me think it would make him annoyed, as Weebl reffers to him as "patrick moore" and not "Sir Patrick Moore" as he is actually called. Hmmmm :D

thats odd, I was just discussing this the other day. We came to the conclusion that Patrick probably hasn't seen the cartoon. Our other conclusion - that he is dead - is hopefully not correct.

He's a very nice chap. I had the pleasure of meeting him last summer, through a show a few of my friends were in that featured him. They got to go to his house, and while they were there Brian May just happened to pop in for a cup of tea. How thoroughly cool is that?

Ace! Did Brian and Patrick jam together? That would be so fab!

No, because Sir Paddy has a bad spine and can't use his hands, remember?

I have become aware of this... However it evolved from my real name, using a Ph sound to be a F sound. Nothing dodgy at all...

Fair enough :)
People often think i'm 'named' after mushrooms as in, magic, narcotic, psychadelia inducing mushrooms, which i'm not.

Just watched my Red Dwarf A-Z again, and Sir Patrick is in that too...:)

I think that if he saw this cartoon he'd be very much able to laugh at it...

Go Sir Patrick!

Acually Ima "Yank" and I already knew of Sir. Patrick Moore. It's quite a shame that he can't preform on the Xlophone anymore becuase of his bad back. Does anyone know were I can listen to some of his music?

since patrick moore is a good family friend of mine, and i see him quite often (he is very much alive), i thought i would set the record straight here:
partick has almost certainly not seen the toon, i am 99% sure.
He is a really nice guy and will think it's cool. he is also a real party animal, despite his age! im sure he will also be pleased that everyone will know that there's more(!) to him than just looking at stars! Sadly, yes, he can't play his xylophone any longer due to medical problems
Yes, Brian May is a good friend of his; i have met him on a couple of occasions- i am yet to see them jam together but i'm sure it would be a pretty intersting sight!

Anyway Patrick will be seeing the toon in the near future... will be letting you know his verdict!!

Kirk Rutter :How did playing the xylophone start? It?s quite an unusual instrument to start playing. Is that what drew you to it?
Sir Patrick Moore: Well I was about 9 years old and loved it straight away.

Kirk Rutter :What do you think of the b3ta animation?
Sir Patrick Moore : Someone showed me it [Weebl & Rob Manuel's Patrick Moore song] and that was that.

For more, see here http://www.b3ta.com/interview/patrickmoore/

The End. Hopefully.

I was reading the B3TA interview very happily: half in concentration, half in admiration. Until I reach: If I were younger and fitter I'd be fighting as the opposition for the UKIP.
Oh dear. My respect for Sir Patrick could not have fallen any quicker.

Bleeding right-wing *******.

You can't rely on people punctuating properly, he may have intended the comma but whoever wrote didn't put it in. I think he meant "Opposition" rather than "opposition".

Read it- "I'd be fighting as the opposition for the UKIP".

As I remember from the election threads, the UKIP is incredibely right-wing and racist. He fighting as its opposition.

He is anti-UKIP.

-edit- at the beginning he says he hates politicians (so why would he be supporting politicians who want to meddle in your life?) and he also supports science. Right-wing nuts tend to support cutting funding from things like the Hubble Telescope. Also, he is against Bush.

As you are aware the Hubble Telescope is due to be dismantled after 14 years. What are you thoughts on this?

I think its a disaster! There should be some method of keeping it going. Its done so much and its in perfectly good order! I quite agree repairing it is a risk to astronaut, but theyve done it before (taken risks). To cancel it on the grounds of expense is criminal.
The observatory in Hawaii is bigger than Hubble, but has to look through the Earth's atmosphere. Hubble can do things that earth-bound telescopes cant. Certain waves are blocked out completely.
Mr. Bushs venture into Iraq could have instead paid for the entire space programme for quite a few years. Hubble has seen further than anyone has ever seen before.
I think Bush is certifiable. Hes a danger. If we are not careful hell plunge the world into a Third World War. Hes power-drunk you see. If he goes for Iran or North Korea (hums) big trouble! Whats the difference between Robert Mugabe and Saddam Hussein? Mugabe doesnt produce oil!

Verdict- Evil Egg, you are wrong.

Anyone else see that episode of Shooting Stars in which he played and sang Prodigy's 'Firestarter' on the xylophone?

I've been forever trying to find the clip of that on the net, but to no avail.
