View Full Version : Just who are the greatest football fans?

Is it the famous Tartan Army, or the flambouyant Brazillians. What about club sides? Celtic always get the "greatestfansintheworld" tag, but then Liverpool fans might disagree. And who were the best fans at Euro2004? For me it has to be the Swedes, as can easily be explained:

Best club supporters, i think the Brighton fans are fantastic, stuck with the club through so much turmoil, nearly going out of the league, losing our ground but the fans are as loyal as ever... but im biased :ninja: Leeds, Pompey, Man Citeh, Liverpool, all have great support. To be honest i think most teams have excellent support.

The best match that I have been to support wise was the Uefa Cup match between Liverpool and Celtic @ Anfield. We both sing the same songs and have a great rappour with them.
The best national supporters would have to be the dutch. For the illuminous orangeness that they bring to games.

I think AFC supporters aren't bad. They've had their club taken from them, but they still remain optimistic and turn up in their thousands for matches 8 league below the premiership.

Celtic fans are always portrayed as 'great' - but they're not, believe me. I've seen some ugly scenes involving Celtic's fans. It's for that reason that I don't ever claim Rangers have the best fans in the world.
Surely the best football fans are the Tartan Army - we sing when we're losing and sing even louder on the rare occasion that we win. Ever since Ally McLeod we've learned to enjoy our football rather than take it all a bit too seriously *cough* england *cough* ;)
Okay I may be biased but I honestly think that Leeds had some of the best support in the prem and I can only assume the support will continue into the CCC if not stornger

liverpool and celtic for clubs. hands down. maybe man united, but thats just merchandise sales not support
for international: sweden, holland, poland(lots of red, even when they played the united states), and USA; and we can't forget those south american teams (brazil, mexico)

MAn Utd my arse, Old Trafford has the atmosphere of a game of bowls :p But i think most teams have great support, i don't think there can be a best support...

The Home Man United fans let their side down. When they travel they are noisy and tend to not have a bag of club merchandise in their hand. (and a Prawn Sandwich).

If you look at the loyalty of Man City fans after all the rubbish they had to watch, they have to be the best.
Anyone can watch success, but sticking it out with the relegations etc.
National sides,well,hard to tell.
I suppose if you go with the lack of success theme,Scottish and Welsh fans take some beating.....

Every match...
The Brighton away fans were very quiet when Swindon played them in the playoffs. I guess that was down to them playing you off the park.
Nice John Prescott masks though :D

Its hard, but we do it because we love the team and were not a bunch of glory seekers like most united fans (not AP because he also suppurts a lower division team.)
Id give it to :
Home- Man C
Away-Liverpool
International Home- Scotland
International away Brazil or Brasil however you spell it.
