August 2nd is the supposed release date.

I'm already fantasizing about it. The alpha was impressive, and they've had almost 2 years to work on it since then......ooh I can't wait. I will be sleeping outside a game shop on the evening of August 1st*

Will you?

*or I might pre-order it online, meh

I just read a 10 page thread on doom3 on SA

I am soooo looking forward to this, and my little brothers amd xp 3000+ with a 9800 pro should run the game smoothly...

Read a review too, at normal difficulty the game took 23 hours to complete... :D nice to know this isn't one of those 5 hour pleasures...

the only thing that bothers me is the game isn't released on a single DVD-disc but several cds... about time we let go of those pesky cds methinks.

Well not everyone has a DVD Drive on their computer. It would be an option to release it on a DVD and on seperate Disks, like UT2004. I played the Beta 2 (very similar to the Alpha) and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait till the release!

I really don't understand how anyone can have a computer that meets the DOOM3 system requirements but still don't have a DVD-rom.

Those who wouldn't be able to start it from a DVD should just hang their heads in shame, crawl to the cross and buy one. It's not expensive enough to be a problem, and it's about time we get a revolution in this field and companies start putting their games on DVDs.

I'm sick and tired of not being able to use the DVD-rom for anything else than watching DVDs. I have a DVD-player for that sort of stuff...

Well I am one of those people that doesn't have a DVD-rom. MY computer can run Doom 3, and any current high performance game with all highest settings. It is just I have found no use for a DVD-rom, like you said thats why we have DVD players. Its a good idea as an option for people that have DVD's, but to strictly have it on DVD would reduce their sales and alienate a portion of their market.

If you want some more info on it check out gamespot. The interviews with the designers will give you a good idea of what the game will be like. Developer Interview 1 is the best in my opinion, but there are some other good ones that do include Doom III game footage.
