Right now it's just started, but stay tuned for updates on this classic 40s/50s horror film :D

I just stopped watching that. Can't stand shitty 50's/60's sci-fi films of books. War of the Worlds film was terrible.

good point... although i do thread like this all the time, and no one minds :)

never go in there as a matter of fact ...

the last one was about "101 things removed from teh human body"on ch4

EDIT: well, we've moved from london (where there was a plane crash) to france, for a meeting with other remaining sighted folks...

a dude in alight house killed a "triiffid"... with a fire poker on teh end of a boat huck :D

EDIT: ooo... interesting twist.. although i won't spoil it ;)

and the women are all very sterio typical damsels in distress... gotta' love teh 50s

there was just a huge army of 'em at this spanish dudes house... and a baby was born... awwwwwwwwwwwwww...

EDIT: bah... bit of an anti climax... :(

won't spoil it...
but i will say it's very genre typical, ie when they find a solution they don't bother with the story after that, they just say it happend, and the worlds back to normal :(

Bugger. Missed it.

Just read the book a couple of weeks back too. Pretty good, but I've never read a book with the word "queer" anywhere near so many times in it.

Eugh. The film was really quite bad. I really love the book, but the Film was a) too ambitious for it's time and it b) changed too much. They just felt the need for an unneeded happy ending.

I like the book too. I was gonna watch the film, but I ended up watching Pirates of the Caribbean on DVD instead. I think I know what happens in the end anyway. Seawater dissolves them or something, I read somewhere

yes. Seawater is the key! not shooting them and burning them and shit like they do in the book. The other thing I hate about the film is they make out that a)the Triffids are Aliens, when in the book they're a genetically modified plant species and also b) that the Triffids caused the blindness. It never really says what the meteorites were but it's alluded to thet it's some kind of chemical weaponry that goes off unintentionally, and the Triffids just take advantage of it. Apparently there's a much better TV serial adaptation, but I've not seen that.
