There are too many parodies of other films in Shrek 2, so how about we make a list of all of them? To start, in no particular order, if someone could give us the order accurately twould be great..

1: Spiderman (Upside-down kiss)
2: Lord of the Rings (Ring landing on finger and words appearing on it)
3: The Mask of Zorro (Puss in Boots writing 'P' with sword)
4: Ghostbusters (Mungo the Giant Gingerbread Man stomping around Far Far Away) before I wasn't sure if it was Godzilla or King Kong... I was wrong twice :D
5: Mission Impossible (Pinochio being lowerd into prison on strings)
6: Austin Powers ([possibly, it might just be a similar joke] Shrek and Fiona's sentences being finished in King and Queen's conversation and vice versa)
7: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Little odd men working in Fairy Godmother's factory)
8: ET (Mungo saying 'Be Good')
9: Alien (Puss in Boots ripping through the chest of Shrek's shirt)
10: Beauty and the Beast (Workers changing into clock and candlestick)
11: Cops (Shrek and co. getting stopped by the police and catnip being found on Puss in Boots)

Not sure if it counts as a movie poster, but when prince charming puts the sword to his face,it looks a hellah lot like the return of the king movie poster....

And for mungo,it came across to me as more of a ghostbusters spoof..

the giant ginger bread man is a parody of ghostbusters, sorry xanthateto.

there was also the scene where fiona and shrek were running through a field to meet each other, only to be chased by peasents with pitchforks. I don't know where that parody comes from.

And there's the parody of the TV show "Cops", where Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots are arrested on camera

"Look Chief! Catnip!"
"That's not mine!"

shrek/2 is just one big parody of beauty and the beast, notably one of the few fairytales that the fairy godmother does not take out from her bookshelf to show shrek that there aren't any ogres in them.

thank you so much Mr Stating the Obvious

i don't think i saw any more movie spoofs but i did enjoy all the messing around with brand names they did in Far Far Away's main street. i spotted Old Navy, Burger King, Bannana Republic, and of course Starbucks - very well observed when the customers run out of one branch and straight into another across the street :D

It was called Farbucks...and we all know that their coffee and snacks are superior to the other shops...
beauty and the beast...is that even a fairy tale, I thought Disney made it up! shows what I know!

yes- beauty and the beast is a fairy tale, it wasnt created by disney. Lion king was their first original story, and B&TB came out before that

I don't know whether it counts as a parody but the bit at the end after the trailers when Puss says to Donkey "We're going to the Kit-kat club" The Kit-Kat club is from Cabaret isn't it?

I wondered if Mongo was based loosly on the character from 'Blazing Saddles' of the same name? Just the way he talked, and they way Shrek talked to him.

Plus the obvious 'Alien' spoof when Puss in Boots busts through Shreks shirt.

I just remembered there was a specific Beauty and the Beast spoof, when they were in the factory and there was a flood of potions and all the little workers got transformed, two of them changed into a candlestick and a clock..
