It seems a lot of the old movie series are coming back. Most recently you have Terminator 3, Freddy VS Jason, Texas Chainsaw Massacare, and now they are even making a Rocky 6. Starwars has even been coming back off and on. When will these series die off? Will they die with actors? Or will they live on?

It depends on the series.
Terminator will probably be over, at least until Ahnold's term is over, and I doubt he'll do another Terminator movie after that. He's starting to get a bit old for it, isn't he?
Freddy VS Jason, and all of that junk will probably continue to reappear in different forms for a long time. It's not even really a series. It's just an excuse to make another horror movie, that will sell decently because of the franchise names, even if the movie sucks.
I don't know anything about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but these horror movies always seem to continue right up to the point where nobody cares anymore because the plots are all the same.
I hadn't heard about another Rocky movie, but I can't imagine anyone will want to continue going to see those. It got old with Sylvester. He's nearly 60 now.
As far as Star Wars goes, George Lucas has expressed his intention to stop with six. There were rumors a while back that he would make episodes 7-9, but I believe those rumors have been discounted.
Generally, any series that continues past the death or retirement of the lead actors is doomed to failure. There are a few exceptions, like James Bond, but there aren't many. I would guess that most series that last past a cast (super rhyming fun) change have a basis elsewhere to maintain the popularity, such as a book series. That's what's happening with Harry Potter. Because of the books, they can change the actors all they want, and make the movies complete crap, but they will sell anyway.

I would have to agree completely. The only reason I think they have decided to make a Rocky 6 is because there was a Terminator 3. If Arnold can do it so can Stallone is the mentality probably. Arnold always said he wouldn't do a 3 Terminator and here we are. If you watch the DVD they talk about Terminator 4. They don't have anything "official", but if they do a Terminator 4 they want to have Arnold has a guest star appearance. Trying to make a Terminator Movie without Arnold in a primary role would suck. I did hear about Lucas wanting to stop. But if he ever does want to go on, he could complete all 9. Who even knew something scripted as only 3 movies (1-3 as one, 4-6 as two, and 7-9 as three) would turn out into what the Starwars series is today.

I'd love to see anoter gremlins film. And another teenage mutant ninja turtles movie!
As for the starwars movies, I prefer the old ones. That attack of the clones sent me to sleep.

but now more and more films are being made from television series, which can often ruin the series or make it better, the next big one is obvisouly thunder birds, but rugrats and some other have done it as well
The less that is said about the awful rugrat movies, the better.

What tends to annoy me these days is the way that movie makers are finding it harder and harder to come up with new, original ideas. They're doing much more stealing of older ideas and just "revamping" them: Spiderman (+ sequel), Hulk (eek, that 3D animation was terrible, and I didn't even see the movie), The Punisher is coming out, X-Men - Marvel must be making tons, but it's all old ground. More examples: Thunderbirds (how can they do this? They've turned something beautiful into an all-American family movie, Penelope's car is a Ford now instead of a Rolls-Royce! They pushed Gerry Anderson out of it! *beats them*), they're making a prequel to The Exorcist... the list goes on and on. I think it sucks that they have to bring back the old classics and rape them into Americanised action movies, completely destroying them in the process.

Two things:
1. Rolls-Royce refused to commission use of one of their cars.
2. Gerry Anderson wasn't "pushed" out, he walked slowly away from this disaster.

Fair points I suppose, but still. They raped something very pretty, which should be punishable by castration.
don't think Stallone would actually fight in Rocky 6.. I read he would only coach some new fighters... bah if they can bring MrT and Dolph Lundgren in it it would be fun
as for Indy 4, it has been delayed to .... an unkown date. Noone couldn't agree on the scenario yet. What they said is they would do it without any CGI.. all old fashioned sfx like the others. They'll soon need a CG Harrison Ford if they keep delaying it though
No hope of ever seeing a Ghostbusters 3.. too bad..
Heard of a Goonies 2 with the sons of the original goonies
True Lies 2 has the greatest chances to be made with the original cast.. that means Arnold :p

schumacher arnold is way too old to do another, and without him it'll never be a real terminator, freddy vs jason sucked ass; there's no way they'll dare to make another one, the texas chainsaw massacre: see 'freddy vs jason', rocky 6; "rocky"?, starwars; they're going to make -1,2,3 and 4 and +4,5,6; around the time they've finished 6, the star wars generation will be dead and no-one will want another friggin star wars movie
fourth indiana movie? hell no! That'll ruin them all!
there's no way they'll dare to make another one
You would be suprised...
