Anyone here like Blink? They went to the Leeds/Reading festival lately.. I was gonna go but I had no way of getting back because of bus shifts :mad: .

Hmm. I loved thier older stuff, like Chesire Cat and Dude Ranch. Enema Of The State was ok, and TOYPAJ had some good sogns on, but this new stuff seems pretty wierd :confused: ...

I don't really like Blink182, mainly because they just look stupid. I'm not a fan of the "neo-punk"ish movement stuff. The Ramones are alright, but most other punk bands just annoy me.

i used to like blink, like there was no tomorrow, then i discovered that they had become alot worse, with all of their newer stuff. i liked their old stuff, when they werent al popular.

now i've moved on to bigger, and better bands... that are actually punk.

As far as I'm concerned, they write some catchy tunes. Nothing too engaging, but nothing offensive. I do like their old stuff a lot more (Though I thoroughly enjoyed Enema Of The State) "Take off your pants and jacket" however is, in my eyes, a bad album.

But yeah, I expect I'll be getting the new album simply through curiosity.

i used to like blink...but i went off them......and besides the spin off 'box car racer' is a million times better.....heavier (in places) more mature and better songs.

Lol, I guess this topic didn't go down too well :D .

I find that many bands are judged nowadays on thier genre, or "punk-factor", as you could perhaps call it.

Its a pretty dumb way of looking at bands, but I guess there's nothing I can do about it. People who say they hate a band and have a good reason that they can back up are fine by me, but saying something sad like, "they're wank" and making excuses about picking people up is a bit... odd :confused: .

Something To Prove, Pensive, Allister, NFG, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Capdown, Mad Caddies, The Descendants, The Ramones (the tribute album really blows), The Clash, The Adverts, AlexIsOnFire, A.F.I, Captain Everything, Lightyear, Greenday, Goldfinger, Funeral For A Friend, Movielife, Mustard Plug, NOFX and other bands you might not have heard of are regularly in my walkman. Blink 182 are also among them, and so as its "bubble-gum pop" (and I do agree about the genre), then it can't be listened to?

I have been to some pretty nose popping gigs, and I'm pretty sure you would see some crazy shit at an old Blink show.

It's not that I dislike Blink for not being Punk enough.

I just find there stuff dull.

A few songs I like.

Especially "Stay Together for the Kids".

Just most of it is pap in my ears.

I like blink's older stuff, and I prefer it when Tom sings as it sounds rawer and more natural, hence why I prefer Box car racer. However I dont think they "sold out" with the newer stuff as many people I know say, i think they just got more mature for want of a better word. For a really good punk band, check out Gash!

i also used to quite like Blink alot, 'spose i still like them now.. just never listen to their music anymore.

i guess their whole act got old, the onstage fart gags 'n stuff.

'Enema of the State' was a great album at the time.
'Take off your Jacket and Pants' was ok.. but nothing great, they really needed something special to follow up the previous album, but didn't deliver the goods.

if they ever do record another album, i'll most definately check it out.

Looking back on it now, all of their songs are so repetative, alot of them sound the same.

I dont see the harm in listening to their new songs tho, if that ever happens. :cool:

Yes, I too hate them with a passion. They are awful awful beings and should stay broken up to prevent anything else they write to surface. They are constantly giving punk a bad name and are just a group of idiots with no talent. Oh yeah, and tom has the most annoying vocals ever. Well, Blink is better than Busted, but not exactly
what I would call "good" music. They're catchy,
but you get sick of their songs after listening to them

I bought the new album. I still don't know whether I like it or not. It's a definite departure from their other stuff, and It's quite interesting, but they seem to have gone all serious and totally lost the humour that made them fun.

heh, i just saw them on CD:UK and they actually had a drummer for a change.

someone must've told them what a real band is meant to look like, so the record company had to fork out a bit of money to employ some guy to bash some drums in the background while the other 3 prance about with their guitars.
either that or they just pulled the drummer bloke out of the audience at the last minute..
