Welcome newcomer!
Before you dive into the excitement that IS the Weebl & Bob forum, know this:
We also have a channel on QuakeNet...
It is called #weebl and you will find many a forumite yapping, chatting and lurking away...
Why are we telling you this?
Well, because it's a good place to be in the first place.
Secondly, and maybe more importantly, there is a difference between talking on a forum and talking on a chat medium as MSN, AIM or IRC...
What is he talking about, I hear you say. What IS the difference?
Well, the main difference that random (or less random) conversations should go into IRC, MSN or some other I(nstant) M(essage) thingy.
A forum is a place you can get more indepth (even if it is about sillyness).
If you *really* want to post longer messages, opinions, rants, loves, stories, questions, thoughts, jokes, misery...well you get the picture, then do so in these forums...
The below is an example that should go into the MSN, ICQ, and IRC medium...

I see you are beginning to get the picture, and I had a fun 5 minutes typing that down
*all characters in the above thread are entirely fictional and do not reflect actual people, living or dead*
or do they?
btw, I do not advise to type the above crap into #weebl as you'll get your ass flamed.
Steaming on...what is IRC
IRC stands for Internet Relay Messaging and if you don't know it think of it as a chatchannel.
You need a program to enter, and i recommend mIRC.
Download at http://www.mirc.com/
If you need any help with IRC PM me or go to our IRC FAQ: http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/faq.php
This also contains IRC help...
See you on there...

Why do people get + or @ on many channels?
It's because they AUTHED with the Q or L bot!
How to do this?
- in IRC type /MSG Q HELLO < user@mymailhost.xx > < user@mymailhost.xx >
You'll be sent a mail on the specified mailadress
then:
- in IRC type /MSG Q@CServe.quakenet.org AUTH < username > < password >
Username is your nick and pass is the pass Q issued you with.
You are now authed (recognised on the Quakenet network (does not register you nick though))
You can change the pass with /MSG Q NEWPASS < old password > < new password > < new password >
To make authing automatic go into the "perform" of your MIRC.
- Click Tools>Options
- Goto Connect>Options
- You see a button called "Perform..."
- Click it
- Select Quakenet from the dropdown menu
- In the dialogbox called "perform options" type /MSG Q@CServe.quakenet.org AUTH < username > < password > the pass and username being yours.
Authing allows Ops to give you privileges, so you will be +sed or @-ped automatically.
Perform makes things automated. As soon as MIRC sees you logging into Quaknet it will excecute the actions in the Quakenet perform. You might want to put in the /joins for the various channels you visit in it.
If there are questions, feel free to PM me.
That is all.

Too many times it happens that people who enter our IRC channel get the "rough" treatment.
I'm just saying it in here once for all people who think it's "funny" to tell people to FOAD or to "f*ck off".
I'm fed up with people lording it over people who are just curious.
This does not mean all the ingames and injokes there are, that's fine and the same in real life too.
Excluding people who "do not fit in" has the same penalty as here on the forums:
a kick and/or a ban, either temporary or permanent.
Just giving everyone the heads up as I plan to implement it, so no-one can say they didn't know.
IRC may be more difficult to get into as it is realtime communication, this does not mean we shouldn't at least maintain some civility.
Just so people know...
