View Full Version : Lower Division Football teams
Ask the guys in my school what teams they like.
92685769 will say ManU.
33247208 will say Liverpool.
50787436 will ejaculate Arsenal.
84396055 will just mention any other Premiership team.
1 will say Chester City.
That one will be me.
I find Lower league teams far more exciting than premiership teams, who have the beautiful game a lot more different, having fatcats from Asia buying their teams out and playing around with them, having players going for a gazillion million quadrillion pounds putting others in severe debt and having their team release a single or two.
Lower league teams have it more real. More original with different things going on, making a totally different sport. When I was watching Halifax Town, in the middle of the second half the whole team went in to have a drink under the scorching sun of Summer '03. You can hear the players yell over the small crowds bustling, and you can spot the player with Tourette's. You can ask a player for their autograph without them saying, "Sorry dude, I'm starring in a pepsi ad."
Think about it, premiership/championship fans, it's better, and watching them costs less.
If anyone else supports a team down there please post, we can discuss about proper footie. :)

The nearest team near me is Woking believe it or not and I also support Bournemouth a tiny because it's near where my only living grandparent lives. But overall I still support Spurs.

well, the local team for me is crystal palace, and I don't really support them, maybe i would if they were lower division and i could afford the season ticket eh?
But yeah, in a month I move to brighton, and the way things are going brighton will be relegated to league 1 or whatever division 2 is called these days, so I might just buy a season ticket or go to a few games for them and offer my support. Who knows.
I'm extremely depressed of Chester's position.
I watched them play Bury, My dad's fav team. 1-1. I don't believe Chester are playing so badly when Ian Rush is their manager.

I support Brighton. Not 'cause i find lower division football more exciting, but because they're my local team, my whole family supports them. And Digga we're staying up :p

I support Barnet, and you can't get much lower than the conference! I just wished I lived nearer so I caould go and see them more often! I find the atmosphere is much better than Premiership matches - no-one seems to take it that seriously, and it's a good laugh!
It costs £1 to get in if your under 16 in Halifax.
One pound!!!
That's value. Can anyone beat it?

Bristol City: Always claimed to big a 'sleeping giant', as being 'too good to be in Div 2/League One' yet we never get promoted.
Still its a laugh that we were tipped for the title and we only got our first win yesterday (after 6 games)
Oh everyone loves Brian Tinnion's start

I support AFC Wimbledon, and I've had a season ticket ever since we were founded 3 years ago. I used to support Wimbledon FC (Franchise FC) until they announced they were moving to MK. Then the fans of FC came together and formed AFC Wimbledon, a club run by the fans instead of a corrupt chairman. I tell you, the atmosphere at an AFC game is far better than any of the Premiership matches I've been to, and now we actually win! :D It's also fun to watch the opposing goalkeeper be intimidated by 3000 rowdy fans, when they're used to playing in front of 30 :D

It was a grave shame they moved to Milton (shudder) Keynes and became the Don's. They are spawn of Beelzebub now. They also have dropped all the leagues now.

Whoa there! You can't live in Croydon and move down and support the scum! As a croydon boy you gotta support the Eagles and not the seaweed
I hope the Seaweed don't go down though cos I want another 6 points to help Palace return the top flight after our less than successful season in the top flight.
Anyway, watching lower league footy maybe more real but supporting a team like Palace (and especially Palace) is much more exciting because you never have any idea what they are gonna do, as last season proved. Hovering around relegation at xmas and play off winners come May. Fantastic stuff
Oh and 5-0 to the Palace!

Tranmere Rovers - team of legend (well, nearly). We have a lack of real support because most locals are are attracted to the blue/red scum like flies to horseshit.
But our cup runs of the past few years have been sheer genius (highlight: beating Everton 3-0 at Goodison in the FA - oh, yes!).
And with Brian Little in charge, and Jason McAteer (yes, fear him!) as captain, we're gonna get promotion. Bristol City, move aside!

I'm all for Airdrie United, the stadium isn't that far from my house, acctually its just round the corner, can't get more local than that can you?
Last night I watched Halifax Town play. 2-2 against Carlisle. There were no goals in the first half but loads of opportunities for Town. One time we hit the ball at a clear net but a Carlisle defender had the nerve to stand where the ball was going. Halifax shoud've won if anyone.
Somewhere in the bleak mid-table of the Unibond Premier League lies Radcliffe Borough... and somewhere around the ground I stand weeping at another loss.
Loyalty to the little clubs in football can be so unrewarding :'(
