Well, I'm quite surprised there isn't a thread about this yet, although I suppose the whole transfer debarcle was as dull as dishwater.
What I am sickened by is how Wayne Rooney can possibly consider himself a scouser still?
I don't care where he's from, or what he sounds like (both should make him far more scouse than me), he has absolutely no loyalty to the fine city.
First he sells his story to the sun. Innocent mistake? Hard as though it was to beleive, I tried to make myself believe that. Surely he couldn't be such a muppet.
Now he has shown where his colours lie - with money, and them manc tw*ts (no offense to mancunians, but you know what I mean).
He's not a scouser, he's a very naughty boy! [/rant]

well i would have liked to see him go to liverpool if he wanted european football as he'd still be a scouser, but they couldn't afford him. i find it ironic that under 2 years ago, rooney could've been signed on a free transfer (with a small amount of compensation as it's a youth contract), yet now he's "worth" £27millionish

First of all breathe.
Done that? Good. :p
Now to the point at hand.
Surely it was inevitable that Rooney was going to leave Goodison Park. It was just a case of when and to who. A player of Rooney's quality deserves to be playing at the highest level, and Everton were never going to be able to offer him that, and at the start of this season were many people's favourites for relegation. The lad is 18 and has a bright future ahead of him, the last thing he wants is to be fighting for premiership survival every season. I believe he made the right choice, he moved to a club which can help him fulfill his potenial, and also where he will win tropheys (despite what many would say, united are still a force to be reckoned with).
So all i'm saying is lay off the lad, sure his move may have left a bitter taste in the mouth of Everton supporters, but i'm sure that incredible transfer fee will help with that.

Right, I'm not an Everton fan, I'd like to point out, I'm a Tranmere fan.
I do see that Man U were the only option at the time, but its the principle. He would have been fine spending a year or two more at Everton though, probably even better. The lad wants the Moon on a Stick, simple as.

I think if I was an Everton fan then I would be quite happy with this development. We get rid of a player who yes, has undoubted potential, and talent, but has yet to fully show it for Everton in more than spurts. Not only this, but he's been reported as being a very huffy player when he doesn't get his own way, and obviously lacks a certain lever of intelligence going by his escapades with prostitutes. His appeal is based purely on his England performances, something he has been unable to do at club level. Lacking motivation perhaps? To get a possible £27million for such a player? I'd be biting MunUtd's hand off!
I am a Liverpool fan myself, but I do have to see the point, he is leaving the city, but then how many players have any loyalty to pretty much anything. I would rather have seen Rooney go to Man Utd, than go abroad. We have far too many foriegn players as it is. And he isnt that consistent. He doesnt have the chance to show off his talent at Everton.
Personally I think he is overrated.

Loyalty? Football? Have I stepped into a time warp or something?
Loyalty and football are not words that roll off of the tongue together too often do they? Anywhere in the whole shebang that is football. Loose two games and the manager is sacked. Some stricker doesn't score for a few weeks and all the fans are booing them.
A loyal football (anything here) = an oxymoron. (apart perhaps for the die hard through thick or thin fans :) )
Also the idea that you can only play in the area you grew up in is a lovely idea, but hardly going to happen ever again is it?

No, I guess it's just when someone so scouse starts playing such good football, for a Liverpool club, you think he might be true to his word. Look at Matt LeTissier.
I do appreciate there's no such thing as loyalty in football. He'll probably return one day, when the conditions are right.
I just think he lacks a soul more than the average footballer (although he's probably not as much of a twat as Michael Owen).

Why is Micheal Owen a twat? He left a club he had played at for all his career, needed and wanted a change, and got given the oppertunity of joining the biggest club in the world. I think he would've been a twat to turn it down!

Thats not why I dislike Michael Owen. Fair play to him for joining Madrid, good choice (monehs , weather and women - can't go wrong!).
I don't like him because he's an arrogant little shit, alledgedly (although I have good sources) he refuses to do his exercises when he gets injured, and apparently he's a racist little fook.
Yet everyone think's he's a sweet little golden boy.
