Group Stages? I don't see the point to be honest. All it does is tire out the players with pointless games and that means less quality football. What's more absurd is putting it in the middle of the bloody thing.

i agree the uefa cup is just so that the teams who dont make it in the champions league to win some games.

I think maybe they are trying to allow teams to stay in Europe a bit longer and also bring more interest like the Champions League recieves to the UEFA Cup so it isnt seen as so much of a consolation Euro competition.
