Have you noticed that if somebody dos something that a group finds unacceptable then the group will label that individual as having an "agenda"?

For example certin right wing Christian groups go on about the "Homosexual Agenda". Now as far as I an tell with the various gay men I have know, the homosexual agenda consists of going out, finding the most attractive individual they can, go home with them and have sex with them. Now I am not entirely sure how that differs from the Heterosexual Agenda in regards to most men...

But I have noticed this, whenever some extremist group wants to justify their stupid viewpoints they talk about "agendas". Like the Zionist agenda, the Black agenda, the Western agenda, the Islamic agenda... Does anyone have the faintest clue what they are talking about?

I think that it is just a way of saying "Well if I just say I think gas/jews/blacks/whites/muslims suck ass, then people will think I'm a jerk... How can I give my baseless prejudice an air of pseudoscientific respectability?".

Common sense is a rare commodity.

I think it's a case of "If we use long words, then we sound like we know what we're talking about!" This would make people more inclinded to listen to whatever they're saying, and make it sound more official and less like unproved comments from a stupid, prejudiced group. It also has the added bonus of repelling any potential opposition who don't know what this "agenda" in question actually is.

Confusing!

I know what you mean Snortlehog.
I swear to God if I hear George w. Bush or Colin Powell talk about the Islamic or Terrorist agenda one more time I'm going to pull my intestines out my ass.

Colin Powell is someone that I have a great deal of respect for. While Bush and Cheney go on about nobel fights and spout their jingoistic crap, Powell knows what it's like to be there. He was a military man, he knows what war means.

Powell sold out during the whole "evidence search" before the war started Snortlehog.
He has become just like every other politician:

A robot with a mind in the 70's and pockets that devour cash.

sorry for the off-topic-ness of this, but I couldn't work out what the topic was anyway, so this is probably relevant...

pull their intestines out of their ass. It's much more fun, and does the world a favour to a limited extent

Good pun, but that's the point, sexists don't have an agenda, they have prejudice. But calling it an "agenda" makes it seem more reasoned and therefore more evil.

Like the homosexual agenda. To the religious right the homosexual agenda is an insidious attempt to turn everyone gay, to gay people their agenda involves sexual content with the same sex.
