There has been a lot of speculation over the weeks that carlton cole will cut short his stay at Villa park to return to chelsea who are in need of a striker.

As a Villa fan i think it would suck if he went back to chelsea, leaving us only vassell and angel as first choice strikers. although cole has expressed his wish to see out the season with villa, this is not a certainty. Do you think he will or should go back? do you think chelsea need cole? do you think villa need cole? do you think cole is any good for either team?

if he goes back he won't get in the first team for very long, as chelsea have loads of good strikers anyway. i'd say stay at villa

Aha. But Mutu is now out for a long while and Chelsea currently have only Kezman and Gudjohnsson, who aren't being too effective.

Cole may see an opportunity.

It depends on the contract signed between the two clubs. If there is a call back clause inserted in the contract then Cole would have to do what he was told. But if there is no call back clause, then he is an Aston Villa player for the season, and they aren't going to send him back out of the goodness of their hearts.

The callback is in there, but can only be activated in January.

To be honest, Cole shouldn't even be at Villa. He should be at Charlton as part of the Scott Parker deal.

He can go back, but if he doesn't want to and jose calls him back, he won't be best pleased, i think he will ask cole, but if coles says he wants to finish the season of then i think he will let him, as for Mutu he will be sold of in the january transfer window. And charlton wanted him but chelsea refused and said "we wont lend him to anyone else" then sent him to Villa :D.

All i know is that mourinho wants him so he doesn't have to pay for another striker, but cole has stated on the villa website that he plans to stay out the season, so i think it is probably cole's choice

Drogba isn't out for that long though, so if Cole does go back he'll probably find himself on the bench or out of the squad completely before to long.

If Chelsea ask for him back he will go no question though.
