Anyone ere play Quake?

Anyone [play the oh glouris quake?? Wether it be quake3 quake2 (yuk, you play that!?) or teh masta orginal Quake1 or the mod QuakeWorld (the best online game ever (satisticly altho not at the mo satisticly))

post your thoughts here. Seen as though quakeworld is now mainly confined to europe we still have 594 servers (worldwide) and a 6 division EU league (NQR) nevermind the challenge-smackdown cups for muitple regions and the clanbase opencup

The game is still alive and still followed by a lot. We need more players tho. People who can be brouhght in to the community and wanna play it... soo.... anyone elsep lay quake at all?

me play quake III occasionaly. its ok, but nothing compared to Unreal Tournament!

i used to play qw back in the day, as did many ppl in the forums; weebl, manny etc.

q2 had weapons of destruction

Nothing beats the cataclysm grenade that always crashed the servers due to the sheer power, or the machine gun loaded with rockets, or the streetsweeper (imagine a crossbreed between a chaingun and a super shotgun) or the modified BFG making it even better than it was. They replaced the quad damage with a jetpack because the weapons were more than powerfull enough allready... (the snipergun killed the last boss in singleplayer with 8 shots, imagine that with a quad...)

I play qw versus my brother in our home network. Mainly because that's the only fps his computer can run...

I played the heck out of Q2 with my paltry 56k modem. Then I got cable modem right about the time the Q3 beta came out and everyone I knew was playing Q3 instead.

I miss the grapple in Q2 CTF games - seen some incredible getaways with that thing. Q3's bouncy-pad space levels are the best with railgun in hand. I think the Q3 railgun is a big improvement over the Q2 railgun.

Unfortunately I quit playing. I got tired of the aim bots, the radars, peek-thru-walls and all the other hacks lamers use to make up for their lack of skillz. No matter how hard punkbuster tries, some dweeb comes out with a hack to get around it. I've seen working aimbots out the same day a new punkbuster update goes out.
Just sucks the fun right out of it :(

meh, UT2003 now that is kewl :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: except most possibly the lame excuse for a sniper rifle, but you can ignore that lame fact by using the satalite cannon (even better at close range :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: )

Play Quake III on a LAN with friends. Then you don't ever have to worry about hacks/cheats (or if you do you get to impose your dissatisfaction in the flesh ;)). The wails of agony and taunts of victory make it sooo much better... :D

But UT2003 pwns QIII :D

im not much into fps games, but i play q3 ut2k3 and cs from time to time... personally i prefer rts games :)

UT 2004 = well, I havn't played it yet, but it looks damn good,m and planet unreal, who have played it, say it rocked there world, and I'm willing to beleve them

I prefer playing UT engine-based games over Quake engine ones ...

I own Quake II & III, but I prefer UT & UT2003. And Tactical Ops of course!

I still play Quakeworld, Quake II and sometimes Heretic II (very little Heretic II players left). Classic Quake is my favorite, but there's alot of cheaters running around.
