Today i went to newcastle to watch city v.s Newcastle.
When i went i was expecting the same ol' match as we play most of the time. Slow and quite low scoring.
Very wrong.
I had just went to the greatest match ever in my oopinion.
End-to-End action and goals a'plenty.
Then i got to thinking, whats the best match you have ever seen, because i don't care that we lost as it was brilliant. We played great and so did newcastle.
So what was the best in your opinion?
Some feedback would be great.

Aston Villa and West ham, many moons ago at Villa park, one of the best games iv seen, as for the newcastle game, i soooo wanted that to be a drew (that way Villa dont dop anymore places in the table), i was watching united and arsenal and the score kept coming up, must have been a good game

The best match i've been to was probably Brighton 4-1 Wolves two seasons ago. It was great not only because of the performance but because we were really believing we could stay up after being so far adrift. The whole two seasons before that was great though :D
Best matches i've seen on tv England 5-1 Germany, either of the Liverpool 4-3 Newastle games or Man U 4-2 Real Madrid (think it was 4-2)

The best game I've been to is when Palace beat Brighton 5-0 2 years ago almost to the day at Selhurst. AJ gets a hatrick. To beat bitter rivals in such resounding fashion just made the game so fantastic.
5-0 and you can't go home! What a day :p

Man U 4-2 Real Madrid (think it was 4-2)4-3
Ronaldo got a hat-trick.
If it was 4-2 we still would have gone out on away goals.

[on topic] I think it was the best second half I have seen in a while, but there have been some games that are much better than that one. he Liverpool-Newcastle encounter happened twice - Tottenham 3-5 Manchester United is the best second half I have seen. Spurs were 3-0 up at half time and United thumped 5 past them - without reply - in the second half.
Better games I can list off the top of my head:
England 1-1 Germany (aet) (Euro 1996 Semi)
Spain 4-3 Yugoslavia (Euro 2000 - Group stage)
Liverpool 4-3 Newcastle (1998 - Prem)
Tottenham 3-5 Manchester United (2002 - Prem)
Barcelona 3-3 Manchester United (1999 - Champs League)
England 4-2 West Germany (1966 - World Cup Final)
Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal (aet) (1999 - FA Cup Semi)
Middlesborough 3-2 Chesterfield (1997 - FA Cup Semi)
Southampton 6-3 Manchester United (1996 - Prem)
Games where people got hammered:
Germany 1-5 England (2001 - WC Qualifier)
Nottingham Forrest 1-8 Manchester United (1999 - Prem)
Newcastle 8-0 Sheff Wed (1998 - Prem)
Manchester United 9-0 Ispwich (1995 - Prem)
Arsenal 6-0 Southampton (2003 - Prem)
Manchester United 6-1 Arsenal (2001 - Prem)
Bristol City 0-6 Wolves (1998 - Div 1)
Brighton 1-4 Bristol City (2003 - Div 2) :p
Wow - Thats actually quite a list.
Got a bit carried away.
So many more.....

The best match I've seen (on the telly) this year was at Euro 2004, I reckon.
Holland 2 - 3 Czech Republic
Within 20 minutes, Holland were up thanks to Bouma and Van Nistelrooy.
Koller's goal gave the Czech Republic a lifeline in the first half, but they couldn't exploit it until Baros and Smicer handed the Czechs the victory.
If not match of the year, most definitely the match of the tournament, with everyone shortening the odds on the Czechs.

ah yeah. Barthez should have saved at least two of them. He was so rubbish.
Brighton 1-4 Bristol City (2003 - Div 2) :p
How could i forget Brighton 1-0 Bristol City (2004 Div 2 playoff final) :p
Not a fantastic game by any means but a well deserved victory and great fun :D
Another two great games i remember are.
Manchester city 3-1 manchester united
Manchester city 4-1 manchester united
I have a tune for the first one.
Remember remember the 9th of november.
Our last maine road derby will last forever.
The score was level,
but the the goat was fed by nevvile.
Silly boy should have known for sure.
FEED THE GOAT AND HE WILL SCORE

There have been so many games that have been better than Newcastle vs. Man City. It was a good game but will never live up to England 5-1 Germany or countless Liverpool matches.
If you can remember where you were when you saw the match then it show's how great it was. I can remember watching England 2-2 Greece with my dad and us both shouting when Beckham scored. Everytime I see that free kick it nearly brings a tear to my eye.
If I had to choose it would be Liverpool 5-1 Germany
I mean England 5-1 Germany *wink wink*

Manchester city 3-1 manchester united
Manchester city 4-1 manchester unitedOh yeah.
Great games always involve defensive mistakes as their reasons for greatness.
Excuse me while I go and applaud someone for creating a great game by hoofing it into their own net.
Muppet.

I really enjoyed the 4-1 game actually. Especially Robbie Fowler doing the Mourinho celebration. Classic.
