View Full Version : Need recruits!

Ok, a lot of our team have not been able to play recently due to uni and other things.
So we need new recruits! I'm sure a lot of you bought HL2, and possibly the silver package, so will have CS.
But that leads me on to a question-I've just found out CS:S's brilliance and am wondering-
Should we switch over to CS:S?
I know most leagues don't support it yet but that gives us an advantage-it's quite different from CS, and if we train early we can get an advantage.

CS: S is good and all, but io think a mixed clan would be a better idea

I think a mixed clan would be too complicated. Ask me next week and ill be able to play cs:s.

Yay JimeH :D I wonder where all the other members got to, I know the situations of Playbus, String and Mr. Fish up there, but the others who signed on seemed to have dissapeared completely...

I would be around, but my wireless network is so unreliable. I don't appear to be able to stay connected for more than 10 minutes at a time, so playing is a bit out of the question until i get it sorted. Once it's sorted though, I am well up for a spot of CS:S or CS...
Hopefully I'll have it nailed in a couple weeks...

I'll join Source clan (got it with HL2) but as I'm not very good (and thats putting it lightly, usually my kill to death ratio is something around 1:2) don't expect too much.

Hey, don't worry about that, the whole point of a clan is to get better and have more fun doing it :)
As for everyone else-w00t. :p Check some of the other threads to find the enemy down thing and sign up there.

I'll play CS or CS:S :)
Is this a "serious" *see if we can get anywhere in enemy down* kinda clan, or just for fun? :D
Lewiji

For fun I think, we haven't really played many matches because of everyone being on at different times, but when we get better we'll probably play in some ladders :)

Well I'm off to train my friend who's new to CS, so I'll go on IRC at 8, maybe (new people check the IRC thread somewhere down the page).
If you all decide to join a game, could someone make the topic the server you're on? Thanks :)

UK2 are normally a little laggy, but fairly friendly... and generally the community's pretty friendly in game... as long as you don't flash/'nade your entire team... infact, as long as friendly fire's off and you stay away from grenades in general, you're probably ok :)
Dr_nwa

Do UK2 and Jolt have CS:S servers? I wasn't able to find any earlier on, and with CS the UK2 servers seemed to be totally fucked...

I've been using UK Training Ground, FF can be a right arse sometimes, killed one of my own team as he ran from a terrorist, straight into my hail of shot :p
Still killed the terrorist mind.

Im willing to join a clan, but im prone to leave at any time. My steam is tobyrule1.
EDIT: I forgot to mention i really suck at CS:S. Dont count on me too much.

UK2...number 1
UK2
UK2
go get all seeing eye. put on the filter for whever you live ( i use UK) and then sort by ping, best servers have a low amount of flux (0 - 3) and low pings (15 - 30 [50 max])

Feck :( I go about "organizing" this (although organization is not a word that springs to mind in association with me) and then CS crashes on me!!
I've put a steam ticket in but basically since I installed CS:S I've been having problems with the sound dissapearing in all the online games (although it didn't happen much in normal CS until a bit ago, now it happens even quicker). I fixed it in CS:S by disabling voice but that didn't do it in CS. I like using voice :(
But anyway now the video dies on me. Just goes blank, the light on the monitor goes orange to show no signal is being recieved. It's not my drivers as everything works fine in other games, and in HL2. Strange.

That must be annoying. Ive sorta given up on cs and now i play deathmatch. ive always been better at hl then cs, and i always come top of my game. I must be in like the top 100 people or something.
Well at least i always pwn on the level with the rooftop missile launcher :P Just block up the stairs and blast away!
EDIT: And what the heck happened to rupees? do we still have the store?
I never got a special name;(

ill do a little dm gameage... I dont like cs because everyone else has played the first and i havent. So i suck. In dm i got 25 kills in a row today without dying on the prison lvl, and this was with 6 other people(they started teaming me so i ended up dead^^)

www.teamarc.org and well give ya a match.
Hello.
New to the whole PC gaming scene, but Im interested in getting a new comp, games and all the paraphernalia, but Im far too poor. The comp Im running at the moment is quite old, but I was wondering is it worth getting counter strike, or counterstrike source, or whatever, and do I need a fast connection. I currently have a 2.2Mbps connection. So, what game is best for me to get to play theese big online games. Thanks

When I'm playing
(oc dead atm :( ) it only seems to use about 16-20KB/s down and 3-4KB up, so your connection will handle it easily.
CS: Source just about runs fine on my laptop, 2.4GHz P4 with Radeon 9000, if your machine is better than that it should be fine.
Lewiji
16-12-2004, 10:01 PM
CS 1.6 should run fine on almost any machine even if it looks poor-the game's engine was released 5 years ago!
Anyway, currently I'm backing up data and formatting my windows drive. I wish I was geeky enough to know how to use WINE/VMWare, I hate windows :p

wine aint all that it wont support games, best plan is dual boot suse linux and windows, use linux for mundane things eg downloading browsing, music etc, use windows exclusively for gameing, get rid of internet explorer and all that crap and it lasts a bit longer
Lewiji
21-12-2004, 11:29 AM
Ah feck. Well I found the source of my problems to be my graphics card, but I don't have a clue why it went wrong. It might be christmas around the corner but I barely get 50 quid combined, and I don't want some shoddy card. I really can't afford 170 quid for a decent card though...Argh :(

I play games on FreeBSD (unix based) using wine, and as a rule, it works perfectly :)
I get much better reg. than I could ever get on windows, there's a lot less background crap lagging you up.

Didn't work for me, that may be because for some reason no linux dist liked my nvidia fx 5600 using nvidia drivers o_0

I had the same problem with my Radeon 9800 (using catylist drivers. Try switching the game to software rendering. My CS (and all my other games) are "running" on software rendering, but check wine and it's using my graphics card's drivers, I get perfectly crisp graphics with 100fps.

Whyplash, what distro do you use?
What is the success rate of running games under wine?
I'm getting sick of Windows again but wine seems to hate me in SuSE 9.1.

I use FreeBSD (http://www.freebsd.org/) Unix rather than Linux, which is completely freesource. At first, Wine didn't work for CS, but I persevered with it, inserted a few windows files it needed from my dual boot partition, and changed a few lines of code in wine, and now it works great :) (much better reg than windows too!)

I've recently got broadband and have been playing CS - S and HL Deathmatch for about a week now. I just tend to join any server I can get onto and tend to only suck a bit, but if you guys all play on a specific server perhaps I could join in??
