Halo 2 Online [No Gamertags!]

Well, seeing as this is no longer a Counter-Strike only sub-forum, heres my attempt at a Halo 2 Live thread, because many people have been asking for a Halo 2 style thingy.

Please can we not turn this into a gamertag thread, as we have plenty of those already, instead; maybe a tactics and clan meet-up dates theme?

Here are some tactics from Fozma, posted on the Wombats UK forums:

ANYWAY! A recent tactic that i have come up with (but havn't managed to pull off yet):
CTF on Coagulation.
You need 3 guys in a fully loaded Warthog and 1 guy in a Banshee with the rocket launcher (not essential but helps a hell of a lot). It's all about the timing and of course, speed.

Phase 1: ASSAULT.
Everyone on the team launches a full scale assault on the base, however only the Warthog and the Banshee will be involved in the actual capturing of the flag, everyone else will act as a distraction.
While the battle rages outside, the Warthog will come screaming into the enemy Banshee bay, EVERYONE DISMOUNTS, you want to park the 'Hog so that the passenger seat is right below the hole in the ceiling and it's facing the exit.. Meanwhile the Banshee guy will fly directly over the enemy base.

Phase 2: HOT DROP
The Banshee guy will bail right over their base, aim down and fire both rockets in the enemy flag room (trying to aim for the corners). If he/she has bailed at the right place they will fall straight onto the flag, snatching it up and dropping down the shaft into the Banshee bay before the enemy knows whats hit them. Hopefully they will all have their guns trained on the gravity lift, expecting the Warthog crew to come up.

Phase 3: GOGOGO!
As soon as the Banshee guy grabs the flag, the dismounted passenger goes up the gravity lift, coming up behind the enemy defenders who will be beginning to wise up and will be about to follow the flag guy down the shaft. This is basically a suicide mission to slow the enemy down.
Next part is simple, flag guy hops in the passenger seat and soon after arrives back at the base laughing and joking.
(PLAN B): OMFG THEY NERFED TEH WARTHOG!
Even if the Warthog is destroyed, hopefully the dismounted crew will still be alive and will be able to cover the Flag-guy until he can get to the portal on the roof of the enemy base. From there he can go through the caves, with everyone covering him.
(PLAN C): OMFG THEY NERFED TEH BANSHEE GUY!
If the Hot-dropper is killed before he can drop down the shaft with the flag, the entire Warthog crew needs to go up the gravity lift and make a second attempt to get the flag. Hopefully the defenders won't be ready for them as they will be gloating over the dead Banshee guy.

Advantages- It's fast and very stylish when done correctly. Doesn't involes too many people (only 4, therefore it can be done on team skirmish), isn't over complicated. Also the motion tracker of the enemy defenders will be a complete mess with 3 guys below them and a Banshee above them, adding to the overall confusion of gunfire and rockets landing in the flag room.
Disadvantes- As with most plans it relies on everyone getting where they need to be in time. And bailing at the exact right spot over the enemy base is quite difficult, i've managed to do it once from the flight ceiling but i suppose you could do it at a lower altitude which would make it easier.

I admit the plan is flawed but it could work and it would look damn good. Post yo

Nice tactics there. I made some uber-cool plans for CTF on Coagulation, but they seemed to have disappered. I do however have lots of maps (hopefully attached).

Nobody goes on Halo 2 anymore, or they must go online when I don't - the only person I've seen from these forums online is Fozma (and Buzzsaw's mate, Zeki).

We need to do more clanmatches guys!

Also, I discovered a gametype from the back of March's OXM (10-Minute Masterclass). It's called Fight Club and is very popular.
Basically:

No shields
No shooting
No grenades
No teams
No weapons on map
No vehicles
Plasma pistols (for melee)
King of the Hill
Extra damage on
No killing outside the Hill
1 round lasting for 2 minutes (can be changed)


This is very fun, and people who joined my party ceratinly found it fun! Try it out.

Yes, it certainly is the best gametype somebody has come up with. There are more in March's OXM, but it's my mates copy and I only made Fight Club on Halo 2.

*yawn* yeah i looked into HBO Helljumpers, Hog Hellriders is a bit quite. I've just woken up after a mammoth pistol match on Collusus (FoxDhoj was innit too). At one point it was just me versus about 7 or 8 guys, i had over 800 kills by the end lol. My favourite moment was when i was holding one of the rooms, i had one bullet left in each pistol so i thought 'fuck it' and rushed out to face a pair of blue scum and spun left then right, and headshotted both of them. :D
Also my Killawossit was good (can't remember what its called, it was 6 kills in quick succession.)

I think you'll find it was Foundation and you didn't get 800 kills on your own - OrnateEye helped you - he got 800 - and other people (aka my guest) got 100 kills and loads of others got 50 in your team. You ended up with about 200. I got about 150. You pwn3d us today though on the rematch...

/edit: Does anyone wanna play that Ascension gametype sometime tonight? THe one with shotguns, no shields and one team holds the turret tower...

New tactis from Fozma in the Wombats UK forums:

This happened quite a while ago but i thought i'd post it anyway.
Zeki, Ninjawarrior and BUK 2.0 managed to pull off this tactic about 6 times across 2 games of CTF Wraiths on Waterworks (i covered them in the Wraith but didn't take part in the actual taking of the flag)
BUK immidietly grabbed the Banshee and flew over the enemy base, meanwhile Zeki and Ninjawarrior loaded up into the Warthog and drove to the right side of the enemy base. BUK bailed, grabbed the flag and threw it out the window before the enemy could kill him, Ninja hopped out and snatched up the flag, got back in again and Zeki drove everyone back to the base.
This tactic worked amazingly well, BUK grabbed the flag so fast that we were accused of cheating LOL.
I was extremely impressed.

Read a Team Slayer strategy for Ivory Tower the other day.:
Most teams get the power weapons (sword, sniper, rockets) and camp at the very top of the level. This however, is not always the best thing to do as its difficult to defend both corridors simultaneously. A great place to have your team gathered would be at the top of the overshield ramp. You can have 2 guys (with the RL + BR Plas pistol combo) guarding the ramp itself (helped by a respawning overshield) The enemy will have to charge UP while being grenaded to get at you. Have one guy camping the top of the fan lift with the sword. Also have your sniper guarding the corridor at the top, incase they try and flank you. It's a straight corridor so they will have absolutely no chance of getting past him as long as he is smart and avoids get grenaded.

People can easily switch places and cover each other if someone dies etc.

Erm yeah thats fine if your playing Hide and Seek but you can't exactly hide a whole team there, even if you did it would be a complete slaughter when the other team found you.

Any ideas on how to fix a Live headset. Mine brokez0rz.

Tried: Tape (all types), UHU Mega mega mega Strogn Glue, Staple gun, and eventually i hammered a nail to hold it togther. The only problem with this plan it that i had a nail sticking in my head.

I'll post a picture if i find a decent camera.

But i suppose this is a good excuse to buy the Halo 2 Limited Edition Headset. Rawr. (Picture attached)
