Well I'm going to sixth form after high school, I can't wait for that. College might be in the works, haven't decided yet.

And I can't see college honestly sucking too much, you're a lot more free.

Plus college parties sound like teh sechs.

College is great. Everyone has CHOSEN to be there so no one acts like a complete fucktard like back in high-school. You get treated like an adult, like an equal by the staff and as long as you give them respect, you get it back.

As for courses, they are what you make of them. I do computing, it is pretty damn cool, sure we don't get to programme our project until year two but designing the prototype has been fun this year. I do politics too which is really interesting and basically, all the subjects are a helluva lot more fun!

...what exactly's good about college?

BTEC IT sucks just as bad. Nothing but networks for 2 freaking years.

Plus I managed to get a group half-full of the kind of computers users that feel the need to constantly make DOS jokes, and spend most their time on forums organising LAN partys.

Aka, OTT nerds. Gotta love em'

EDIT: Piemastermike, not exactly. You still get loads of those kinds of people where I went, because most of them where pressured to go by their parents, and spent ages on fucking newgrounds.

Oooh Yeah

i love it, school colleges everyone fucks around and you get hassled by little kids = no freedom.
and institutes that offer vocational courses while being good for most people offer too much freedom = no work, too much games and dossing.

6th forms a nice balance i think, i love it. for many reasons and only hate it for the one, they get a bit antsy if you are late or there is a glitch in the register system thanks to connexions cards. they have been scrapped now and next term it will all be fixed :)

johnny good point. there are a lot of trendies at our 6th who don't want to be there but are so there middle class parents will buy them something nice. but it's easy to ignore them.

:eng101: Ooh, a language barrier!

College in the US = university.
College in the UK = what you do from 16-18 (more specifically, sixth forms and sixth form colleges (pretty much the same thing)).
High school's UK equivalent is called secondary school (ages 11-18).

Hope that clears things up for a few people.

Yars, though most FE colleges tend to do a lot (if a reduced number) of HE courses as well. It's more of a catch-all.

I left skool and went straight to college to do some FE courses, 'twas a great laugh. Drunken times, crazy times, lots of time to kill... oooooh yes.
