View Full Version : Organising e-mail adresses

Hi there!

Right now I have about 3 hotmail, 2 gmail and 2 school email adresses.

Naturally it would be quite handy to keep them all neatly organised.

So what I'd really like is ONE program which I can open and then quickly access all adresses seperately (don't want 1 huge inbox).

Also, (even if the previous isn't possible) I'd really for once like to manage all the adresses of other people; which program is best at that?

many thanks in advance

Outlook express'll do it... it's a decent program :)

Hotmail has a built in guide to setting up its addresses, gmail has instructions on the website... for the school, you'll need to find out their smtp or pop3 address... which may be a bit tricky, but you can ask the IT technician or someone :)

I just downloaded "thunderbird" which seems nice and all, but I need to know the adress thing for hotmail and gmail; anyone know what they are?

G-Mail will tell you in the help section on their website on how to set-up Thunderbird. Hotmail will be slightly trickier, I used to use Hotmail Popper (http://www.boolean.ca/hotpop/) to get it to work in Thinderbird, but I think they may have withdrawn the ability to do this fromt their free accounts now. However I seem to remember reading somewhere that older hotmail addresses can still do this, so it's worth a go.

I can easily access hotmail with MSN, so that's no problem (the other adresses I hardly use).

Gmail works quite neatly, my school accounts are still being bitches..

Thanks for the help guys

shit, beat me to it.

oh well, I only clicked on this thread because I thought it said "Orgasming e-mail addresses" 0_o

By the way, I recently found out that if you happen to have a yahoo account, you have to pay for a premium account to have pop3 access.

Yeah, hotmail did it too.. before that apparently you could use hotmail dipper or something

Not if you sign up at yahoo.co.uk (the .co.uk is important). I've had free POP3 access for a couple of years. You have to sign up to the "spam me to death based on your interests" programme, but I unticked ALL the options (which took a while), and haven't received a single one.

Thunderbird is working lovely with my Gmail and school adresses now. Thanks guys

By the way, isn't there a plugin for Firefox that says "Oi! You've got a new mail in thunderbird"?

Having nothing better to do, I have looked through all 219 Firefox plugins and 30 or so Thunderbind plugins, and no, there isn't.

Yes, but it's in my taskbar, I can't even minimize it to my little icon collection thing in the lower right corner (y'know, with the time and such)

MinimizeToTray (http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/) should do the trick.
