You've overused the OMG gradient paint brushes a wee bit but the weebls look sexeh, have their own style which I'm loving.

i ask you one thing and one thing only.
If you know it's absolute shite, why post it?
i mean, you even pur gradients in the gradients!
i like the red and black weebls, though... :)
EDIT: and OMGSOLEET! erm... try adding shadows, and some scenery in the background. and you should already know how much people here like text! :)

Well, ill be honest. I dont like it.
It is obvious that you are a begginer but that isnt an inslut or sumtin'. Its not a catastrpohe. But lets say that you have a long way to go.
Dont worry, we have all been there :)
Wow. Erm... wow. I too love the weebls, but they don't really go with the background... Try making better use of them.

I'm thinking you set the background as transparent, instead of solid white.
The shadows aren't positioned right, either. They need to be more under weebl and bob.
Tiode
04-04-2005, 08:56 PM
how do you set a background?
I'd stop before you make things worse for yourself.
Yes, and switch alpha to 40 or something to make it transparentish.
Make it the same width as weebl, and right under him to the very pixel, that's how I do it.
Try Hard as well.

If you're making it on flash, when you publish it, there should be an option when you publish it that says whether transparent areas are published opaque or transparent.

Well.... im no artist, thus never actually posted in fan art. But, that doesnt mean i cant see whats wrong with your second attempt.
When you put text in speech bubbles you might want to add the text after you shrink/move the bubble as in the bobs speech bubble the text looks terrible (warped stretched i dunno, just change it)
I dont think you picked the best colour for the shadows, and maybe think about a bit more detail... its horribly basic. I mean sometimes basic art is good, bu just little things, like maybe some eyebrows, or a hat, or a banana, something is needed.

They aren't very good. Is there any particular reason they're the wrong colour or are you just making "your own style"?
I'll say what I always say even though I just get ignored, try harder or don't try at all.

There's nothing wrong with weebl and bob being red and black. Personally, I think they look rather fetching that way.
And I like the obviously-easily-made-by-gradient-and-paintbrush-backround.
However.
There is a matter concerning the shape of the characters.
One has to draw a line between "originality" and "too lazy to make them oblate spheroids (ovals)" and I think you were just too lazy to make them eggshaped.
Other then their horrible shapes, I like them. Its like weebl and bob from an evil dimension.
But please put in more effort. Or else I shall have to minus you. :(
But if you make something good I will plus you. :)
And even though the whole rep system is a pile of flange-follicles, I cant think of any other way to bribe you into trying harder.

not by a huge amount, when you streach out the weebl and bob to make them more oval, make sure you dont streach out the bottom as well or it just look right, also the speech bubbles and text are to small and dont stand out, also convert the shadows to a sybol by right clicking and converting them. Then make them transparent by using the properties tab and selecting alpha and changing it, would improove it a lot
hope i helped

Righto, the shadows are alph 40'ed and lined up right.
Its better.. isnt it?

Yes, now make them smaller in height because they're far too big, getting better though, like weebl's eyes.

If this dosen't get any better i am going to have to minus you as there dosen't seem to be much effort put in to theese.
Alpha = 30 on the shadow and dont have an outline.
I don't care if you say it's your own style, bend thoose lines on the weebles, they look horrible like that.
Eyes should be bigger.

No I'm sorry, but it really is a bit poor. I'm no artist, and don't claim to be, but this needs a lot of improvement.
They still aren't egg shaped, the lines around bob seem too thick, The top half of their bodies bigger than they should be, The text is still stretched, Bob's shadow is more transparent than Weebls and a different shape, Their shadows are white intead of black, The Shadows still have an outline, It's overall lacking detail and, just my personal opinion, but the colour scheme hurts my eyes.
I hope you can take some critisism, because that's just the way I see it. I suggest you a) Improve the shadows. Try and make them both the same shape, with no outline, the same alpha and a shade of black. b) Take a good hard look at Weebl and Bob. Bend the lines (especially around their mouths) and try and get the proportions right, c) Put more effort in. I sorry but these look like effortless things you put together in a few seconds, If your going to bother posting art in the fan art section at least put the effort in to make it decent looking.
I don't mean to sound mean, but I hope you can take these things in your stride and try and use them to improve your art.
On the plus side, I like the fire in weebls eyes, the red and black weebls might look quite effective on a better background and the catch-phrase isn't half bad. I must also compliment you on your attempts to improve the picture several times, although it isn't getting much better. Are you new to the program your using? If so take a little time to get to know all the different effects and such you can make in it.
Anyway, hopefully I helped.

I think that you could do alot better. Spend more time on your art, can you look at that and realy say you like the look of it? Only post art if you think it looks good, or you're having problems need help etc, etc.. I strongly suggest you at least take the time to read the above post as it has better advice in it than mine. Now i like that colours but the weebls are poor. And the shadows are two different alphas altogether. I think if you try more not so many people will say its bad and at least you would be trying. Just my two cents.
It's hopeless.
:(
Yes.
Tiode, your first wasn't that bad, it showed room for improvement, but you've got worse and worse. :(

QFT.
Also, don't use these alpha percentages against a gradient background.
Right now you're making baby Jesus overdose on calpol.
You people need to listen to me more often.
I clearly told him to stop, but noooooo, you went on to help him get worse.

Work on the shape of weebl and bob.
Should look more like this...Thanks Stav!
http://fopg.cheesefarm.co.uk/images/characters/weebl2.png
Also I don't think they are red and black.
Pull and adjust the sides till it looks like that. That's what I do. If you mistak0rise, Ctrl+Z some so it undoes.

You are improving a tad, just the gradient background doesn't look good.
Also spend a bit more time on your Weebls. The mouth isn't parallel.

I'd reduce the size of the lines on bob too, it is extremely annoyingly large and squashes him. I thought at first it was a one off, but the lines are still too thick.

Actually, the shadows have improved, and the weebls have become a bit pointy-er and curvy-er.
If I had the intellectual capacity as you, Zekey, I would (maybe) have said that very earlier on.
But I just have to post like a spasticated fishstick and get banned from NG for reviewing that dead guy's flash in leet speak :(
Tiode: go far away and practice Flash for a long time. When you come back to fan art, bring us some good art. I would give you some contructive criticsm, but everything I can think of has been said.
