The great guinea pig experiment.

I wasn't sure where to post this but I think here will do. Below is a photo of a new born Guinea Pig. I've used a white choclate kitkat (2 fingers) to show its size. I just wanted to post the pic to make everyone go "arrrrrrr" but i've decided that i'll gonna post a pic every so often to show its growth. The Pig is an orphan my girlfriend rescued from being put down. We haven't decided on a name yet but I want to call it Carrot because its ginger and has big shoulders, but my girlfriends nephew wants to call it Frankenstein, Frank for short.

My sister got 2 guinea pigs, both girls.

Or so the seller said, needless to say we ended up with 6 mini guinea pigs including one who nearly died (bit runty).

They make a HUGE racket and 2 of the boys are gay, which means even more noise.

They're still cool though :p

Okay, so heres the lil fella at 3 days old (yesterday). He's bloody quick now and it was pretty hard to get him to stay still long enough to take a picture. He's changed shape quite considerably but im not sure he's increased in lengh by much (if any). His bums now more in proportion to his shoulders. Oh, and he's got a name now - not Frank or Carrot, but Sorrell (its what colour it is apparently) :S My gfs idea... I tell you what though, she's not going to be naming our kids!

That was the last one :( But my mum gets them in most weeks in the "big shop" so i should be okay to keep using them for scaling purposes :D

Whe my dad was younger he ( ooh sparklies dont read) didnt belive that his hamster was dead so he disected it.
He also , when he was a sick 15 yr old with no moral, he and his friends bought 3 pet rats and knocked them out with chlorofrmorm stolen from the science labs at school, then chopped off their heads! [/GRAPHIC]

Hey everyone just got some sad news :( Sorrel died at around 10 am this morning, my girlfriends just rang to tell me. He was absolutely fine last night, but this morning he was cold and had dark lil poo's. He wasn't his usual energetic self and slipped away slowly. The vet thinks it may have been an infection which he would have otherwise been protected from if he had been feeding from his mother. And to add insult to injury (death even) i've been spelling his name wrong the whole time.

:( only just discovered the thread too. Happy little chap (he looked). I had 2 'pigs, they both died within 2 days of each other. The other got lonley, stopped eating and copped it. Sad news though... You should get another one.

Aww :( I only just found tthis thread, poor little guy.

When i was alot younger i used to have 2 guinea pigs but my cat ate one and the other one died when i was on holiday. Also we had to have my dog put down just after new year :(

My girlfriend (one) has got many more guinea pigs. However they are all related and she got the 2 boys castrated today because they kept trying to impregnate their sisters and mother. Obviously Runcorn guinea pigs. No doubt she'll rescue something else soon - she's got a pregnant cat at her house at the moment waiting to have its babies - maybe i can do something similar with a kitten. Sorrel was incredibly cute though :( Arrr i feel really bad for the poor lil fella :(

Poor piggy. I have a guinea pig. If I had a cam I'd show you it. She had a little sister, and there was a mourning period where piggy wouldn't eat anything. Poor little guinea dude.

This reminds me of own Guinea pigs demise.

Guinea pig: White Abyssinian with red eyes.

Step 1: Becomes blind in both eyes.

Step 2: Pokes out one eye by itself, we did not remove it because we had no understanding of the guinea pig anatomy.

Step 3: Gets covered with cancer.

Step 4: Appears to be in constant pain, is put to sleep by vet. Apparently was going to live for a few more days.

And my sisters guinea pigs, died in a heat wave later on.

But that was a long time ago.

Edit: No pity, if you give me rep over this I will not be amused.

I know how it feels. I rescued a bunnie before it entered the roadway from the exit of our bank. It died on my birthday. Had it for 3 days. I think my mom drowned it with milk from an eyedropper. It ate and drank on its own fine, but then my mom thought otherwise and it probably drowned. :(
