I've recently joined a clan who recently joined Enemy Down and on Tuesday night I'll have my first official league match. I'm cacking my pants!
Now it's against my clan's main rival and they beat us on Dust last week, so there's no pressure!! :nana:
The map will be Office, which is our opponants favourite map of course! Now I like Office and consider myself pretty good at it until I was informed that T's rarely rush CT's in league matches, it's considered bad strategy. I've never, ever played in an Office game where all the T's camped near the hostages so all my usual tactics have flown away with the birdies.
I've been looking on the web and there's hardly any strategy guides for Office, which is understandable as it is so simplistic, but any hints, tips and strategies from you guys would be appreciated!! :eng101:
The setup will be
5 V 5, FF on, 12 rounds on each side and fade to black once you die.

The main thing about Office is that it's mostly confined. Therefore:
Flashes are very effective particularly when you get near hostages. Just make sure your team isn't too close!
Split off into a 2 and a 3 and go seperate ways. Make sure one of the 3 stays back a bit from the other 2. Again, because it's confined, if you all go one way a good spray can take everyone out.
When the hostages are taken surround them if there are enough teammates left. Not only does it keep them covered, it also means all sides can be watched so no sneaky bastard can come up behind and knife (it's more difficult to hear footsteps cuz of the hostages)

Sound is a very important issue i find in office. It useful if you sit right on a corner, you can judge when people are coming towards you and how far away, just before they get to the corner if you strafe out shooting your almost bound to score a HS, especially with an mp5. Otherthan that, smokes are always good inside to cause confusion so long as you let your team mates know where you are so you dont get friendly fire. And if i were you try to stay out of the long corridor looking down to the window and the stairs, its easy to get awp'd from there without realising.

I play in a prem ED 1.6 clan, so I'll give you my $0.02 from what I know from the 1.6 version of office (which is exactly the same in every way to the source one :p). These tactics are both for the map and matches in general and have got us a very, very long way... this is gonna be a loooong post :). When we play office,as everyone's said, it's a very confined map. Flashbangs will win for you. First round as CT, I'd suggest you first sit in spawn for about a minute. No really, it makes the other team wet themselves, wonder if you've gone some horrible back passage they never even considered and possibly even do the idiotic thing of coming straight at you, or at least if they're clever enough not to move, it'll make their bollocks sweat. After a bit of standing round time, quietly walk up the steps to the right of spawn with USPs and flashes, and sort out with your team who's gonna check which corner, who's going to check x dark spot, who's going to make sure nobody's behind y table, try to organise walking in a line so you cover eachother from every angle, when you walk round a corner, make sure two people walk round the same corner at the same time... they'll only have glocks (nobody buys first a gun round in officials) so you don't need to worry about being sprayed to buggery, you have superior weapons to the other team, use it to your advantage, they'll have to split up to cover all possible ways you could go. When you've killed the first person, see how the enemy react. There are two types of reactions to someone losing their first player, there are the panicers and the tacticians. The panicers will scream down teamspeak, ventrilo or whatever external comms system they have "omgz they're in the hossie rooom!!!! omgz gogogogogogogogo wtf!11!". These make for easy opponents, suddenly they're launching themselves at your whole team one at a time. The tacticians are more nasty. They'll realise... "no, fuck that, there are 5 of them and they're all together. Let's walk down to where they'll be going with the hostages and try and take them on with sneaky corners". You'll find that a clan'll be one or the other, if they're panicers, you'll have no problem finishing them off. Tacticians are much more annoying, as someone round a nasty corner can normally pick off two of your team before being taken down, which is where the two people going round a corner at once tactic comes into effect.
After you get to the hostages, DON'T ORDER A HOSTAGE TO FOLLOW YOU UNLESS YOU'RE 115% CERTAIN YOU'VE CHECKED EVERYWHERE. When playing terrorist, we always sit behind the back exit to T spawn and wait for "ok I'll follow you" and "ok let's go" before jumping out and blowing their faces off. Check all around, make sure there's nobody anywhere near, then the one person with the most health, or the best awper order all the hostages to follow him. There's no point getting more than one person to get different hostages, it'll hinder you considerably. Once you've got them all with you, the man with the hostages stay at the back as a rear-guard. If the hostages get shot by terrorists, be happy, that terrorist won't be buying an AK till at least the 3rd round :p. Walk back down the main stairs, expect a terrorist sitting just inside the entrance to CT spawn on the left by the garage door. Rescue the hostages, player who got them can now afford an awp. If he's not the best awper, everyone should be able to afford a colt, so get him to buy an awp and the best awper to buy him a colt and trade. The awper should then leg it to the left side of CT spawn and watch through the window, if he's quick, he can normally pick off a terrorist or two. Then... run away, no need to lose that awp so early on. Second round, we normally repeat what we did first but with colts. If the terrorists are sensible, they will've eco'd and you've got 5 massacred terrorists on your hands. Third round of course, AK-47 time, so use your advantage, try to engage the terrorists at long range (from outside, through windows etc)... colts are much better at long range than the sheer close range brute force of the terrorist's AK-47's. AWP them from outside too, if you can. It's a nice idea to know where the awper is and lure an unwitting terrorist into his crosshair. And remember, flashbangs!! That's about it as CT tactics go, keep repeating a direction until you lose a round going that way, then pick a different one at random... why change a winning formula?
As for T... if you really want my advice for the first round, and this sounds like a completely retarded thing to do, but it's about the best way to win it, grab your glocks, and make two two man stacks either side of the main entrance to spawn because nobody 'nades their or checks. It might not work, but you have a horrible disadvantage anyway, so it's worth a go. If you lose first round, you quite honestly have no chance of winning second, so make sure the CT don't get so much money... rush at them before they can reach the hostages, glocks VS colts, you don't have a chance, but stop them from getting the huge amounts of hostage rescue money. Either way, win or lose, second or third round you're cooking with gasoline. AK's all round, normally we'll send one person out to sit behind the desks at the far end of the building's desks... don't move, don't show unless you hear breaking glass followed by the shattering of someone going through it. Count to five slowly, giving them plenty of time to walk past, stand up and pop them. If you have a good awper, get him to stand at the back exit to T spawn/hossie room, he can pick people off from every direction bar the one most defendable one, but it may not be worth spending the money on such an expensive gun unless you're doing very well or so badly you'll have to take the chance. Office is a very nice map to camp in. Use the fact well, sit in places nobody'll expect, especially places people walk round corners with flashbangs in their hand :D. As terrorist, make sure you hold your position, never go out too far, never make noise... that's how you die, and when you die, your team is a man down and then they die.
Told you it was gonna be long :D
other than that, good luck, sir :)

To quote my tactics man
CT's:
One spokesman for the whole time we are CT's (elected b4 we start the PCW). They tell the rest of the team what way we are going to the hostages. so when it says ''lets go'' the spokesman shouts i.e ''STAIRS''
We all go that way and as a team not splitting up. However if we do get split by a firefight we are in constant coms with eachother. If and when we get to the hostages we have all the hostages foloing one guy who is in the middle of the rest of the team. the ppl behind look out for the bastard that decides to stop. If this happens and you know T's are coming your way just pop that hostage because as long as we save one we will win as all hostages will have been rescued. But b4 we run into camp send in 2 ppl (if we have the left over ammount) to make ure the area is clear andthat we arent goin to get ambushed.
T's:
Quite simple...........camp. We hold every entrance into the hostages and if we have leftovers they remainding ppl drift around. When you get attacked, if it looks like its there whole team duck behind some cover and com in with the rest of the team. at this point you only occasionally poke your head up to make sure they arte still there. DO NOT LEAVE THIS POST IF IT LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE GONE. COM IN WITH THE REST OF THE TEAM AND LET EM KNOW YOUVE LOST EM. At this point you go back to your original location and continue to wait for them. Should they all ambush one location we all move to that area and hold em off perhaps leaving 1/2 ppl with the hostages just incase.
If they somehow get the hostages out of there then we find the quickest route to the garage and hold the entrances. THIS IS ONLY IN CASE OF THEM GETTIN PAST SOMEONE AND OBTAINING HOSTAGES!!!!!!!. Then we hold them off as long as possible.
Sorry for poor grammer im tired and wanted to post it

This is good stuff! I'm gonna be practising some of the above but if there's any more advice feel free to post. The only problem is when I'm trying to explain some of these ideas to my clan they're like, "That sounds complicated!" Sheesh.
Anyway, many thanks for the tips so far.

If you want, I'll jump on your server and go through a few tactics before your match if you have ventrilo/teamspeak before the match :).

never, ever ask for tactics from me on dust2 or aztec ;)

Whiplash I tried to answer you PM but your inbox is full.
Our Match on Tuesday night was a major disaster. We had no tactics worked out, everytime I tried to get them together to discuss they'd just start shooting each other so we just played and made it up as we went along.
Even so it ended a draw and we so nearly won. Unfortunately because of a few server problems they are contesting the result and ED are currently looking into it.
There's another match tonight and on Sunday, (both on office) and our deputy clan leader went nuts when he heard what happened, so we've put together some basic tactics based on what you said and he says we MUST follow them...or else lol!
I don't know, I wanted to join a clan to get more into the teamwork element of the game but it doesn't appear to be happening. We are fairly new at this but still...they won't even talk with mics...they stop during the match to type instructions!!! sheeeeesh!

Oh dear god :/ get yourselves a vent channel. External comms and mics are a must to get anywhere. If you want, I can set one up for your matches until you can arrange a proper one?
You really need one to tell people where the enemy are when you're dead, discuss tactics etc etc. In all honesty, you won't get very far without one.

I agree totally. I've been looking into Ventrilo and the deputy clan leader would go for it but says we need a server to run it on. We also don't have full access to our own server, just basic admin rights and a Mani-Admin plugin and the guy who does run it, well he is in the clan but he doesn't play and we only get to speak to him about once a week. We can't really complaign because he lets us have the server for free!
At this rate I may get a server of my own to run. Thanks for the kind offer to host our comms but I would like to sort out a more permanent solution. Do you know of any services that can help or servers we could rent?

I have very close ties with the people who run/own reflex gaming, delta networks and l33t gaming (all server companies who basically cater for gamers... gaming servers, BNCs, vent servers etc). My own clan have three servers and vent channel sponsored by l33t... I'll have a word with a few people and see if I can get you something :)
l33t gaming say that when they get a new server, which should be in the next few weeks you're welcome to a (free) channel). :)

The power of good offence lies in well timed grenades and team movement. Watch the champion teams, they nade then go in together. You can hunt down championship videos or just buy PC gamer DVD.

Study some tactics from professional clans like 4Kings, Schroet Kommando, eolithiC, Landed etc... you pick up new tactics and probably work out some of your own. If you want, when you get the vent channel, I can come on and talk you and your clan through some tactics that got us to ED Prem (1.6) :)

Woo hoo! We followed some good tactics last night (although our CT tactics need a bit of work) and we won 22-2!!

Nice one :D a clan of less skilled players with tactics will always beat a clan of very skilled players without...
