View Full Version : Subj: Scientist need help. (Updated 10/5/05)
My name is Chukwu Benedict. I am writing from Nigeria. I stay at 12 Babinton Asaye street Okota Isolo Lagos. I need help in construction based on a new motion law. I do not have transportation cost but a prove of my personaliy. A formular i derived for finding the area of a circle excluding the pie.

Greetings Chukwu,
My name is skoo, and I am wearing a blue t-shirt today. I quite like
eating pies. What sort of construction are you planning? What sort of
costs are you looking for?
Could you tell us more about the formular? It sounds interesting!
Regards,
skoo
----------------HIS REPLY BELOW----------------
It is Chukwu benedict again. The construction i am talking about is ment for a device that can be used to power aircrafts boats e.t.c. without the use of air or expansion of gasses for moton. It can also work if covered totaly but that of the prop eller method or rocket will not wok if totally corvered or sealed.
The mathematical formular is just to serve as a pove.

----------------MY REPLY BELOW----------------
Hello again Chukwu Benedict!
It is skoo here, and today I am typing with two hands! This sounds very exciting to me, the formular must be quite complex. Do you have any diagrams that I could see? Or is it top secret?
Please let me know!
Regards,
skoo
----------------HIS REPLY BELOW----------------
Hi Skoo. It is Benedict again. The formular is a secrete for now. All i am asking for is how i can get you or your organisation to help me basaed on my project. I am only an inventor stranded in this country with no hope. If you mean emailing the formular to you i am confused.

----------------MY REPLY BELOW----------------
Hi Benedict!
It is Mr Skoo here again. I understand the need for you to keep the
formular secrete, but perhaps I may be able to offer some assistance.
How can me or my organisation help you? What sort of help do you need?
We are based in London,England,UK,Europe,Northern hemisphere,Earth.
I do not wish for you to e-mail us the forumular, as it is obviously
your secrete for now! Do you have proof of your identity? A picture of
yourself? Please let me know.
Regards,
Mr Skoo
----------------HIS REPLY BELOW----------------

Hi Chukwu Benedict,
It is Mr Skoo again. Thank you for sharing the formular. I must admit,
mathematics is not my strong point. You mentioned before about
requiring some help from us, what help do you need?
May I see the picture of you so I can show my colleagues? They are
very interested in your formular.
We will keep this information secrete for you.
Regards,
Mr Skoo.

Hi Chukwu Benedict!
It is Dr Skoo here, I am sorry for the slow reply, it was my birthday!
I have attached a picture of me in January. I have lost a lot of
weight since the picture was taken, and I even shaved! Twice!
In answer to your question, we are about 3098 miles from Lagos. My
associates and I are very keen to see more proof of your identity.
Mr Fromage Frais, our accountant, said that one picture alone is not
proof, so do you have another picture that I can show him?

A formular to calculate the area of a circle without pie?
What is a circle, without pie? Nothing. A circle simply ceases to exist without some form of beefy goodness.
What this means of course is that this sudden disappearance must cause a lot of matter in space-time to be ripped apart and thus energy is produced, making any object attached to a circle fly inter-stellar distances!
DON'T YOU SEE SKOO? DON'T YOU SEEEEE?

251327/80000 is pi, to some decimal places.
Hmm. A circle of radius r centered on the point (0,0) can be defined as x squared + y squared = r squared. Maybe he's found a way to integrate that to find the area.

d=297
formula: 69307.07143
pi x r x r: 69279.1866
where r = radius = 1/2 D
his forumla works very well, but isn't quite accurate and this is amplified with bigger numbers. and i can't see why you would ever need to use this formula when you can just use pi x r x r (can't be bother to get character map)

I've noticed a pattern though. Have a see at this:
Shane's first example:
d=5:
formula: 19.64285714
pi x r x r: 19.63495408
Do you remember the thing where you round up or down after the decimal? Look at the hundredths place on the formular version: 19.64285714. Now look at the other one in the same spot. 19.63495408.
When you round 4 to the nearest thousandth in the formular version, it rounds down to 3 in that place on the pi x r x r version. Try to find the pattern, I hate math and can't be buggered to find any pattern in the rest. It looks like it's got some kind of relation trend though. Test it out and see if I came upon something.

:eng101: Factorise his "formula" properly
D² - (3/14 D²) => (1 - 3/14) D²

(1 - 3/14) D² => (1 - 3/14) (2R)² => (1 - 3/14) * 4 * R²

((1 - 3/14) * 4) R² = 3.142857 R²

I kinda think this is a bit unfair.. it's not really his fault he doesn't understand English that well, although I have no idea how he came to think this was the right place to send his stuff..

If it turns out not to be a scam, we should all donate money to him for providing a good source of comedy and amazing formulae.

Why is everyone saying "if" has anyone looked at the formula? it isn't the area of a circle.
what he has is 3.14285714285714285714xRxR (which is just 22/7r*r) this was an old way of estiamting the area of a circle
which is an allright approximation for the area of a circle but is an average of 27 cm squared out across the first 256 integer radius circles.
Send him an improved formula in the next email something like 219911485751286/70000000000000 r squared
or to be accurate to 15 dp (439822971502571/(1.4*10^14))r squared

What he has isnt even a formula really, it should surely equal something?

You may well have ruined it with Fromage Frais, but nice one on the picture choice. I also like the way you've upped it from Skoo to Mr Skoo and now Dr Skoo. What next? Prof. Skoo? King Skoo? Emperor Skoo, Lord of the World?

The picture blew it. If he's still on the hook, he's either retarded or stupid in some other very similar way, just without the excuse.

I tried doing the formular with D = 1 but I can't get 3.1415etc.
Maybe I'm not doing it right.

Yes, I'm sure they speak French as a first language in Nigeria............I might be wrong though, but I doubt it!
Great pic though, but Brian Blessed would have been ace!

If you want pi as the approximate answer, D should be 2. (Since D = 2r)

His formular isn't writeen in a particularly good way but it jsut approximates pi to 22/7 which is RUBBASH

This thread has been keeping me rolling on the floor, and getting some strange looks from the people around me.
Can't wait for the update!

Of course it is, what about... uhhh... that guy... Maybe you're right.
But if "today I am typing with two hands!" or "and I am wearing a blue t-shirt today." didn't give skoo away, then I'm sure this probably won't. :p

No because "frais" means fresh in French so really it's nothing to do with whoever came up with the recipie
Chrisper
16-06-2005, 04:54 PM
Actually it means cream...
eleanor
17-06-2005, 08:54 AM
No, "crème" means cream. "Frais" means "fresh" (or "fees" :eng101: ).
Macca
17-06-2005, 08:58 AM
And Frommage=teh cheese!
But Frommage Frais isn't = Fresh Cheese, it's actually a type of yoghurty thing I think...
Chrisper confoosed his Frenches, Créme Frais is fresh cream, a common phrase.
SPACKlick

it is fresh cheese. It is cheese that dsoesn't set due to the bacteria that are used to make it so it stays in a yogurty consitency.

SPACKlick is right! I know because I just spent three months studying dairy products, including soft cheeses, different types of milk (i sampled 15 varietys), creams, dairy desserts, etc. Fromage frais is a soft cheese which is usually stocked under the yoghurt/dessert section in a supermarket.
