CS:S 2v2 Tournament

OK, Whyplash came up with the idea, and I've talked to phreeck and he thinks it's a good idea, so:

I propose a 2v2 Counter-Strike Source tournament. Nothing big, just a bit of fun, and get to know each other's skills ;)

We can use my clan's server, it's a Jolt clanserver, 12 man so minimal lag, we'll (hopefully) get HLTV on it so we can watch each other's matches too.

For those of you who've never played a match before, you pick a map with your team, the other team pick a map, and you play both usually 10 rounds each side. The scoring is based on 4 parts, T first map, CT first map, T second map, CT second map. You have a knife round first to determine which team picks the first side, then play to 10 rounds, swap, or have another round if it's a draw.

[RULES AND POINTS]

To start, we'll have a free-for-all type match, pick your own team but no mixing of "experts" per say.

Whyplash has it more detailed below, but basically we count how many rounds are won total, 12 rounds each side per map, and the winner gets 3 points/1 point for a draw.

This will be discussed more when we get to it but we'll have every team play every other team until we have definite winners/losers. Might organize some runners-up matches so noone's left out.

Remember: It's only a bit of fun, and without your participation it's going to fail, so even if you aren't great at CS it's a great opportunity to get better, experience a match etc with people you're friendly with-that said, abuse will not be tolerated and you may be disqualified if you insult other players.

If you don't mind, it'd be good if we played without tags...Mainly because quite a few people are in my clan so it'd look unbalanced :p

I don't think we'll have prizes although we could have an arrangement with the mods for a custom avatar or something I suppose.

Now this isn't a fixed idea so tell me what you think or if you have a better match method (since that was thought up as I was writing it) post it.

Righteo, me and Lewiji have just come up with this:

First round: Round robin competiton. Pick your own team of 2. This way people get to play with their friends. Everyone plays everyone on a variation of reasonably small match maps. I see these as being:

de_dust
de_dust2
de_aztec
de_cbble
cs_office
de_inferno [if it's released in time]

if anyone really wants something added, shout it out :)

date and time: well really whatever both teams playing can make.

Points: 3 for a win, 1 for a draw. HLTV will be available for anyone who wants to watch it (I'll host it).

I think it'd be cool to play two maps per game. So for example, my team vs lewiji's team, we each get to pick a map... my team pick de_dust2, lewiji's team pick de_inferno... we play 24 rounds on each and add the total number of rounds won together to determin the winner :).

After the round robin, the top x (probably 4) teams... we don't know how many people'll be playing yet will go into the finals - a knockout competition working in the same way as above, but the losers are instantly disqualified.

So everyone grab a friend and sign up!

Yes noca, I'm blatantly going to be knocked out because I'm usually piss poor in real games and just get flukey kills in pubs. But it's fun, and you'll hopefully learn some new skills from it, and also experience a match without it being too competitive :)

EDIT: I am proud to say for the first time very people thought i was hacking.... they thought i had a health cheat after i took out 5 people on the first round i arrived in the game with a pistol and no body armour. if only i was more consistant though...i then got bum raped on the office in the next game. :(

Lewiji... do Jolt allow use of HLTV from their servers? Because HLTV doesn't seem to be something you can "bring with you" anymore... it has to be put in by the server. If you're allowed (check the rules to make sure it doesn't say you're not)

Yeah...I'm getting sick of bad Admins! They cheat (slapping CT's just as they are about to defuse bomb, teleporting etc etc) restricting access to weapons, slapping campers/ambushers (no-one likes a camper but staying in a good ambush spot for about 20 seconds and then moving on is part and parcel of the game...these admins slap anyone who pauses for more than a second!) and generally banning anyone they feel like. Abuse of power.

Sure it's a privaledge to play on these servers and respect must be shown, but if they dis the players lets see how they feel when people stop playing on them!

How are you finding Source compared to 1.6? I see a lot of threads on the Valve forums from 1.6 players complaining that Source is totally unplayable and they demand Valve fix it!

I've never played any previous version and although some weird things happen in Source I've never found it unplayable!

It is really quite different... there's a hell of a lot less recoil on the guns, which although you'd think would make things easier, I'm very, very, very used to pulling down my mouse a certain amount to control an AK... and suddenly on source, I find myself shooting the floor!

The AWP's quite different too, you have to be standing still for longer before your aim settles... on 1.6 you could pretty much stop dead, shoot accuratly and keep running... now you have to pause for at least a second before your aim settles down. USP, M4, AK and Mac-10 been made better, glock, MP5, Para, auto shotty and a few others have been made worse. No matter what people say that "they're the same game" they really aren't, if you were used to 1.6, they're extremely different. It's worth picking up a copy of HL1 for £5 and giving 1.6 a go, it's still a class game!

Ahh you see, that's why (with a little practice) I've become quite good quite fast at source... the recoil's less, much easier to control :) it's more an issue of getting used to what's changed :p the colt is basically the same gun (except now when it's sillenced it makes a stupid poncey noise :p) so I'm still pretty good with it. AWP however's quite odd to get used to... I used to run, pause for a split second, kill someone and keep running... and it was something I did a million times over a few years, and suddenly, you do what you always have... and they don't die :/ that's kinda weird.

Buy it and give me a game sometime :D I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys source.

Enable developer console in advanced options, then press the tilde ` (top left just below escape) key to bring down the console.

I am LOVING the tiny x-hair you can get with source now. Even the small one on 1.6 seemed too big, and i couldent be arsed to get a custom xhair. If we are going to do it, and you really want to win, we need to agree on what map we are all happy with, discuss tactics and practice beforehand if we want to waste them. I suggest Whiplash does this as he seems the most experienced here.

BTW - Just so some of you know, I'm not avoiding playing with any of you...my time on CS is sparse...I have a job, a wife, a kid and an insane dog to look after and I really cannot predict when I will be on sometimes. I also recently joined an ED clan and I'm trying to play in as many matches as I can so I can learn teamwork.

9PM - 11pm is when me and the Mrs sit in front of the telly and have some 'quality time' the best time for me to play is 7:30 to 9 on weekdays and early afternoons on weekends.

Don't mind Dust although it can be a pain when playing T's on pubs as my fellow T's decide to try and camp and get wasted when you really need to rush A to win this map!

If they do cheat we should have it on one of our servers and let them know we have Vac2 beta running on there to wind them up! :p

Whyplash is amazing at Dust 1 as a T on 1.6 as I witnessed last night, topped the scoreboards by about 20 points if I recall, we slaughtered them :)

The fact of the matter is that "Daghost" can't face it that he doesn't understand the responsibilities of being a server admin, and he can't just ban someone because they annoyed him. As for complaints of admin abuse, I get plenty of reports quite frequently, I ask the person responsible about it and more often than not they apologize and won't do it again. All it takes.

Strat: Does this really nedd any explanation? Yes? Alright: The entire Terrorist force rushes straight to A, planting the bomb ASAP. They then secure both entry points to A, ready to blast away any incoming CTs.

Strat: All Ts rush through the underpass, pausing only to pin snipers (if there are any), and maybe lob a few 'nades. They then proceed to B, stationing men hidden all around the area (but keep one visible to distract any oncoming CTs).

Strat: The Ts rush into the tunnels, and then turn right, coming out overlooking the underpass. Depending on the positioning of the CTs, they then either go plant at A or B.

CT -

1) Side Rush

Strat: Half the CTs go up the Front Steps, half through the front room, and meet up at the Side Corridor (this is to make sure no Ts get behind us). They then push through the Side Corridor and into the Office. from there on in, it's up to the strat-man of the team as to what is done next.

2) Main Rush

Strat: The whole team chrages up the Front Steps, and into the south entrance of the Office. If the Ts are camping in the P-Room, they pincer attack it, simultainiously sending a couple of men through each entrance.

Strat: The CTs take the Back Stairs out of the Garage and into the Office. Similar to Main Rush, just differnet way in.


Terrorists -

1) Hold Projector Room

Strat: Standard tactic for Ts really: Everyone camps in the Projector Room, awaiting the inevitable CT incursion. Possible that 1 man be sent to try and get behind the CTs and cause mayhem ;).

Strat: The Ts rush down the Main Corridor and split, sending some men down the Front Stairs, and some through the Front Room, only to meet up in the Front Yard and decide what to do next.

Strat: The Ts rush into the Garage via the Back Stairs and Back Yard, ploughing through quickly to get behind the CTs. Leave 1 man behind to hold up the CTs as long as possible.

Strat: Terrorists take up defensive positions at the marked choke points in both the Main Corridor and Side Corridor. I've done that a couple of times and it works a charm. I usually wait until I hear them planting the bomb and take them out when they least expect it.

The frustrating thing about Dust (on Source anyway) is no matter how fast you are you arrive there at about the same time as the CT's so you do need to be quick and accurrate with the flashes!

Right guys I dont know what the big deal is. This all started with me putting a temp ban on a guy called Rag in our server. He seemingly became annoyed with me after I asked and I did ask alot of times if anyone could hear my mic. I heard no reply so ofcourse I kept asking over again :P To which rag lost his temper and shouted " Yes now shut up" down the mic at me. This isnt acceptable and then I also lost my temper and bannedhim. This is not acceptable either. I apologies. If you look on the forum I apologies there to after a while.

Was Chis Banned on the MB Server ? No. I told Chris that if he persisted to be very immature and threaten me with statements like and I quote " He is the most respected member on the weeble and bob forums and he has powerful friends " Then I would not only make the ban on Rag Perm I would also ban him.

I also told Haz information to this affect whilst playing a game with him on Cbble. Remember that Haz ?

I dont really see why you guys have a problem with me. My server has a traffic of hundreds of users per day. In the 3 months that the server has been active I have given out maybe 5 - 10 bans. These were all hackers. The only exception to this is Hazmeister who has been banned cause his very existance offends me. Out of all the admin I do on the server 7 days a week for the last 3 months I have had a total of 4 complaints. FOUR. If you look on psychostats you will see that a total of 7912 players have connected on our server for atleast 25 mintues. That means I have a total of 0.05055611729 % of complaints. If I remember correctly from my A Level business class most retail outlets and industry will allow a margin of 5 - 10 % complaints. Since this isnt a profit making organisation I would say we should aim to have less then 5 % complaints. But either way I am far from that...

Like I said in previous post I get along with most of you quite well. Atleast if I have a problem with people I say what I think to there face. I do not make silly threats like " this uber hacker is gonna kill u " I do not post peoples postal address on a forum to encourage harrassement.

That brings me to another ironical topic. Chris has several times gone about how he or others can sue me for banning some one on my own server. This is infact not possible.

However ...

Posting some ones postal address with out consent no matter HOW YOUR OBTAINED IT is highly illegal. This would be classed as harrassement. This can be sued for and you can get a injunction on some one to prevent it happening again. Furthermore with a case like this im pretty sure I could sue for damages. Would be nice to fund my clan out of Chris parents pocket.

I get along with most of you firestorm guys. If I dont i am still amicable. How many times have you guys asked to be swapped to the other team and I have done so ? How many times has one of you came on msn and I have dropped WHATEVER I am doing to come kick a hacker or sort a problem out for you ? I have even see Firestorm members get shouted at like i did by rag. I stand up for them and lay out kicks and bans.

Hell last night on msn i was discussing with firefly the possibility of giving free admin to switch and haz. When he asked why i told him it was becasue they play alot ... seem trustworthy ... and deserve it. However a clan leader is a representation of his clan. He should lead my example . Is this the kind of clan you are ? The offer of free admin can be forgot for now.

How many clan owners would offer the use of there private server free of charge so that there friends can use it for PCW ? How many clan owners pump as much time and dedication into there clan as me.

I've just read Archangel's post and I have to retort.

Ghost was saying "Can anyone hear me" over and over again, as he says in his post, and I kept on saying yes, no-one else did. This went on for about 3 rounds.

Now if you are in any game and some guy starts mouthing off, singing, making strange noises, whatever everyone gives them grief and tells them to STFU! Everyone knows that.

I didn't even say STFU, I shouted, "Yes, now shut up!"

Now if he had been a normal player he probably would have said, "Alright alright, calm down...I thought my mic was broke" and I would have said something like "Yeah, sorry about that..I just lost my temper a bit" and we would have carried on.

But no, coz he had admin he abused his position instead of acting in a responsible manner and banned me. So I complained on their forum, took a lot of abuse, sucked up, was let back on and still took abuse on their forum. He never apologised to me and if you look at the forum the last thing he says to me is that I should take my 30 year old ass and fuck off.

I bit my lip and let it it go. I never ever theatened anyone or to hack anything. The only thing I did do was invite them to ED so my clan could have a match against them.

It is a pleasure and a privaledge to play on anyone's server and I do admire Admins for what must be a difficult task at times. The Milk Bandits is a fun place to play which is why I tried to not make the banning a big issue at all.

Increasingly though the admins on some servers are becoming more of a pain than the cheaters and they have a responsibility to the community they serve. When they do go over the line it is therefore hardly surprising that it causes grief and complaints.

Lets hope the clan war can sort this all out, everything is then forgotten and we can move on. Certainly on the weekend I had an enjoyable time on there with a lot of the Bandits playing and it was a good friendly match.

If I wanted to get x's home address, I could do in all of 5 seconds by merely looking at their server's information. You, however, have just made a serious threat of grevious bodily harm against another individual, it's enough to have you arrested, fingerprinted, kept on file, maybe even given a restraining order if he felt that the threat was a real one. I made no direct threat to your "respected Member", as at this point he has done nothing to me - but this is for sure i WILL voice what i have to say on the matter.
