Yes... it arrived, plugged it in and it all worked dandy in the control panel. Into CS i got happy as Larry, onto lewji's. *pressed tab* "HI GUYS CAN YOU HEAR ME" Magic Pea continues to hum , Lewji repeats everyones commands as normal... *press Y* "did you hear me?" i think lewji replied "hear what?" hmm it appears it didnt work, and after browsing sheets of code in steampowered i gave up and came here... The main issue is the fact that in the options and where i test it the test bar doesnt move, unlike in control panel where it works fine......

any ideas?

I realised what my problem was with this...my recently installed webcam has a mic built in and it was set to usemy PC mic instead. Set it to use the Cam mic and it worked a treat.

Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder

So when you go into "test microphone" on voice options in CS, it does nothing?

Hmm.

Right.
You need to enable voicecomms, as I belive you are talking about CS: S.

So start source, go to potions, then select voice.
It should be a straightforward from there, as I can't remember the details.
Also, you may need to bind voice to a key. That's in keyboard, about halfwayish down.

Try logging on to MSN and start an audio conversation with someone, and a micraphone wizard should pop up for you to adjust your settings.

Sound recorder is the easiest way to test your mic...

Try recording yourself on the mic first. Open sound recorder, hit record, say a few words then play it back... if you can hear yourself you're cooking with gasoline :). If not, check the mic's plugged in... check your headset doesn't have a flicky mic on/off switch (probably on the volume control) and check control pannel isn't muted... try again.

Next, open CSS. Open console, enter voice_enable 1

Open options, go to the voice tab. Turn the voice transmit volume to full. Hit test and talk.... you should hear yourself, now adjust the volume till you can hear yourself clearly, but without being deafening. Join a server.

bind "k" "voicerecord" in console

hit k to talk :)

If the mic is a "line in" check that it is not muted when u double click on the speaker symbol in the taskbar
