CS 1.6 Anyone?

All I've seen people play is CS:S. I know most of you have computers good enough to run it, but is there anyone who plays 1.6 anymore? I never have anyone to play with...

And can anyone tell me why all the gun names have changed?

I also found a steam compatible 1.3 remake. But there aren't any online servers as far as I could see :(

So, does anyone know why they changed the weapon names? Was it because of legal reasons or something?

Eeer, all they changed was AK-47 to CV-47, the rest have stayed the same... I guess it could be because it's a typical "terrorist" weapon, they didn't want to offend anybody...

I play 1.6 as well as Source :D. It's generally more challenging then Source. Source there's always other n00bs with you.

There are some things I dislike about source, in a lot of ways it just doesn't compare to 1.6.

It's too easy. I know this sounds stupid, but on CS 1.6, if you get a headshot, 95% of the time you aimed for it, very occasionally a spraying bullet'll catch someone in the head, but that's pretty damn rare. On source, in a spray, 75% of the time you'll catch someone in the head... it's just too easy!

The reg on the servers is bad. Source servers need a beast of a box to run on, and most server companies simply don't use powerful enough computers, resulting in a complete lack of reg. By this I mean you shoot people, but they sponge up bullets... you pummel someone in the chest, you can see the bullets hitting them, but there's no blood and no damage is registering, sometimes it can take half a clip where every bullet hit before just 4 bullets register and kill someone. This isn't helped by the fact that most CSS players wouldn't know a rate if it bit them in the arse.

Another gripe... there's a delay when you shoot with M4s and AKs... 2 of the guns I use most. There's a delay of about half a second before the first bullet fires. Also, the first bullet from the CT autosnipe, even if you're standing stock still is always cock-eyed. I have a lot of gripes about source, back with 1.6 I say!

I'm pretty sure there were others. The Steyr Aug is now the Bullpup, the Desert Eagle is now the Night Hawk, and the FAMAS is now the Clarion.

Eerm, depends which way you look at it. That's only in the buy profile. At spawn, type deagle in console and you still get a deagle. It says "Jim killed Fred with headshot from deagle" etc. All that's actually changed is the buy profile...

I have decided I can't play 1v1 on source or 1.6. Maybe it's just hobo though. I got to the point where I accused him of cheating although I know he doesn't, when it was me and explosivo (yyyeeeaaahhh) vs him I was watching his spec cam and he's completely legit :( Just lucky.

My server is switchable between Source and 1.6. So if you ever want a game...

I was just playing CS, when along comes this guy who joins our team. He starts team-killing one of our guys, I get a little pissed about it, but don't do anything. A couple rounds later, the same guy who got TK'd is in a corner. The TK'er is aiming at him, but not firing. I watch to see what happens. Finally, he kills him, then I get pissed off and kill the TK'er. I get kicked and banned he doesn't. Is there no justice?:(

I've been playing 1.6 for over 5 months now. Though there were a few months I did not play that much. I think 1.6 is way better than source (don't ask me why).

Well I was on a Uk2 Beginner server, having a rag and whacking some noobs.
Me and a pal decided to stick on some myg0t tags (the known hacking clan)

I decide to pick up an awp and go around the front of the assault doors and pick off a head. Boom! Awp'd back in the foot, leaving me with 15hp. 'Whack, screw this' I thought, so I picked up my trusty m4 and decided to vent it.
( I came out with 4 headshots and a ban)
