I just got this, and it's a fantastic multiplayer game. It's a bit old but it hits the spot as far as online gaming goes. Lightsaber duels make me :)

However, I'm rubbish. I only really play in lightsaber only servers, and I'm just not fast enough.

I've read a few guides on moves but I can't get most of them to work (wall jump for example, or a few of the attacks)

So, any tips? Also, in a duel, when the lightsabers lock, how on earth do you win?

Tis a great game. The multiplayers brilliant.

I also do saber only..the force powers are silly, especially choke.

The best move is to run forward in red lightsaber mode, hold atatck, then just as the sabers coming back over your head, hit jump and you lunge forward. Anyone it touches die instantly.

Yeah, lightning annoys me no end, you're having a nice fight with someone then some idiot comes up behind you and electricutes you to hell and back!

I'll try that. I've seen some people jump to crazy heights on non-force servers: Is there a trick to this, or are they cheating, or what?

Lewiji, I used to be in a JK2 (and JKA) clan. I wasn't hugely good, but I got enough training to elevate me above the level of your average crappy n00b. I know enough about the swings and the special moves to be able to give you a bit of tippage and training and a head start if you want; MSN me sometime and we can work something out :)

I've been playing jedi knight 2 as of recent.

Assuming we're talking about the same jedi knight 2 which is quite nice as it's really quite old.

When I do multiplayer, I can never seem to find any servers at all. I assumed nobody played it.

There's a setting at the top that says something like "Network" or whatever. By default it's set to local, you have to set it to internet :p

FYI: Saberfighting in JK2 is perfection. In JKA they fucked it up, they changed the yellow special moves and katas are quite crap.

for me its better than jk2 because different sabre types = win ^_^

Saturday sounds good. We'll need a server, preferably running multiduel, and all Force disabled except for attack, defend, and jump. I believe this requires a server-side adminmod, which I don't have a clue about.

My game doesn't seem to like multiplayer much. It gets errors, and when it finally does connect it disconnects soon after.

It works when I play my own bot battles.

Single player / botmatches will NOT teach you how to fight properly. It's too easy to hack 'n' slash your way through it.

Hmm...we may need to look at just..invading one of the servers already up.

There's always plenty of FFA dedicated servers with nobody in them, and even if we get one with force powers..we'll have to make do and just say not to use them.

Lewiji and I went for a bit of a playabout last night (o_O) and within five minutes were swamped by lamers. The Wireplay servers are a good place to go, I used to know the admin, once upon a time :)

I love it when people go all' yes, master.', because i'm so sith'd up, I go and poke them for a while, then duel them both. Extra fun when i'm using my Darth Maul skin...even more fun wehn I kill them both :D

I'm in a clan, but I would leave to join one with people I actually know a little beforehand.

Besides...it doesn't look right having the title 'Jedi master' in a clan when you're clearly Sith.....and named Darth Pessimus....I love my name :D *spent a while looking through latin translations...it means evil or betrayal or soemthing like that..)

So sith-friendly, if you would :P ...and if we wanna go all out...a clan that bans all force crap. Lightsaber dueling is the true essance of the game. I don't understand how people can play just..standing near to a drop and for choking, then throwing them over the edge. I never use force, and only go into force servers when the others are empty.

Oh..and I think if you create your own server, you can just turn force powers off...which would be nice and easy.



Anyways, anyone up for a game later to-...today? Around 6-10 area?

The clan I used to be in had Jedi / Sith divisions :) Although technically you couldn't have more than two people in a Sith division, unless you're doing it "Brotherhood of Darkness", Kane stylee (I spend too much time reading the Star Wars wiki ¬_¬).

Banning force only really becomes an issue when you have your own server. And I don't think you can just turn Force off, because it'll disable Jump too, which is about the only useful power. But you can get server-side adminmods to do it (and if we do get to the stage where we get a server, I suggest we do get one).

I might look at servers when I can afford luxuries, i.e when I move to my new flat, which is probably going to be like..August. So it's abit of a wait :)

I'm gonna set this baby up and give it a whirl. Yes, the Weebl + Bob Jedi Knight II clan officially exists as of now. Current members are myself (in-game I'm Vaan) Lewiji (Lewiji) and JonnyFFmaster (Pessimus).

It's not going to be anything too formal - you join, you pester people to train you, you have fun. The end. No trials, no ranks, none of that nonsense. Just good clean fun.

Having said that, I do reserve the right to go a bit Nazi. If you're interested, PM / MSN / add me to xfire (sarchasm) and we'll arrange a bit of a game. I don't care if you've never played the game in your life before - what I care about is your attitude. We'll be happy to accept you into the clan, if you're happy to not be an arse. As such, we'll only let you in after having a couple games, because we don't want you being a spack and ruining our lovely, lovely reputation :D

Like I say - let me know if you're interested and we'll give you a whirl. I may also be able to set up an alliance with another clan who are just now reopening their doors. Their members are the old skool from when I used to play, ages and ages ago - so if that side of things pulls through, I might be able to get us some more advanced training from them (once us lot are up to a vague amount of scratch, anyway).

I've started to use push now xD. Basically push them away if they're too good then run for the hills. Or if it's non force then I jump down slash them a bit then run for it and continue to do this until they're dead.

I had to re-install it yesterday, it is an awsome game.
The single player is crap but the multiplayer is great.
I'm not very good at it as I have forgotten all the moves, which i used to know I just need reminding.

In single player, enter 'helpusobi 1', then enter 'sabercolor purple' or whatever colour you want. I think you're saber needs to be down though.

It switched back every now and again, and always when starting a ne level, so it's abit of a pain.

I would suggest that Lewiji, Lagmeister, JonnyFFmaster and BeverlyHillHobo come at 6pm tonight if you can. Of course, anyone else is free to come too, but I'm hoping Beez will be nice enough to teach us the more advanced stuff rather than the basics.

Open jk2config.cfg

Add 'sabercolour purple' to the config.

Should work permanently then, I have no experience in the single player (only played the first level) but I'm guessing that will work (the same way as Quake 3 which is the engine), you might have to make it read only to stop the game overwriting it.

I have JKII and have been wanting to play multiplayer since I've got it, problem is I have no idea how to actually get to a game, nevermind play well. Blame my only online gaming experience being from FFXI. So if somebody could post a step-by-step how to get from installing the game to being in a game that would be grand.

Weeman: Start the game in multiplayer mode (There should be an icon on the desktop for it)

Goto play>Join server/Join game (not sure)

There should be a setting at the top that says "Source" or "From" or something. Anyway by default it's set to Local/LAN. Change that to Internet by clicking on it.

Click "Get new server list". Once that's done, I'd order them by ping (the time it takes to send data from your computer to the server, and back again) as a lower ping will give you better gameplay.

Double click a server, and you should be away :)

Also, if you get xfire from www.xfire.com, this allows you to join someone playing on a server with one button, and lets you chat to them msn-stylee in game.

god-dammit, I keep trying to get the patch, but something about lucasarts doesn't like my computer, every time I try to download patches for their games it b0rks up. Could somebody perhaps inform me of another way to go about getting it.

My pc isn't too great and it's getting on in years so I was shocked when this game worked on it.

However, when I got to the hoth level on single player it decided to no longer show any detail or colour. All I can see is the outlines of the characters and the level and mostly everything is black. In fact the only thing that shows up properly is the lightsaber.

I've no idea why this happened, all the previous levels work fine but now because of this problem I can't get any furthur in the game and it makes me sad.

I'd really appreciate any help as to what the problem is.

1) Try graphics drivers, update them

2) Turn down graphics settings (or just fiddle with them) in options>video.

well I tried to get a new driver for my graphics card but in the process I think I've accidentally replaced the old one with nothing. So now I have no graphics at all and my pc either crashes and goes into safe mode or asks me if I want to install the invisible 'unknown driver' every time I switch it on.

Thanks for the help though, alot of people suggested the same thing. To be honest I think my graphics thingie was probably just too crappy. I guess I wont be playing jedi acedamy for a while then.... untill I get a job and buy a new pc anyway. :D

That reminds me... anybody know how much a good graphics card costs?

~100 quid, less if you're not too concerned about frame rates/fancy graphics. Make sure you have an AGP slot, or if you're not concerned about ^ then you can get PCI versions (note: not PCI-Express)
