A custom avatar is only possible to get at the admins' discretion, and if you fulfill the above requirement.
And we are quite discreet, except maybe the kernal.
Also all people with a paid subscription have the ability to upload a custom avatar, which they can use, IF it is not a crappy one.
NB: Even if you are in the Ninja group you won't be able to upload animated avatars. It's hard enough for people to keep their normal avatars to decent filesizes. So for now, no animated ones.
We want to keep these features exclusive to the users that post well over a longer period of time.
