First of all you take the two images you want to put together.
For ease, make your two selves apart, if you want more complicatedness, have them touching/overlapping etc.

So, here are my two source images:

As you can see, i am going for something complicated.
It helps if the camera doesnt move inbetween images, and no background shit moves either. Also, you may want to think about the shadows of people crossing each other or falling onto each other as this proves a bit tricky.

Then open both images in photochop
At this point you decide which one is going to be mostly behind the other image. It doesn't really matter if your people aren't touching. Here I have chosen the dead me on the floor, as the other me shall be sitting over him.

Right. Now take the other you, and rightclick on the images layer, and go duplicate layer.

Then you pick the filename of the other image, so in my case img033.jpg. OH NOES IT HAS GONE OVER TEH OTHOR ONE! Don't panic, this is fine :)

Now, you need to rub out all the stuff on the upper you that isn't shadow or you, so all the background. Take your time here, as if you get this good, the image will look good.

ZOMG NOCA JOOR SHADOW GOEZZZ OVAR DA ODER YOU! Nah, that's fine at this stage, we shall fisk it soon :3

At this stage, if you have your yous seperate, you can skip to the big ***'s a bit further on.

If not, you'll need to make the shadow all transparent, like.

The real shadow isn't going to be the best of things to work with, so what we're going to do is go layer>new>layer.

Then select the paintbrush in a dark dark brown/black, and trace over the real shadow.

Then put this layer under the top you layer, and then erase the real shadow from the top you (you may want to save before you erase the real shadow incase something goes wrong).

Then go to the opacity on the shadow layer, and put it down until it makes it look the right colour :)

Then you can fiddle with the position/darkness of the shadow until it looks about right.

Then, to make it look a bit better, you may want to go to filter>blur>gaussian blur

and then adjust it until the shadow looks a bit better and more blended with the background.

Now we are going to rejoin those who took the easy route:

Right, now you have your image looking fairly shipshape. For the last step, select the blur tool.

Then you want to change the strength of the blur to about 50% and go around the harsh edges to make them a little more blended with the background, as shown below:

This was an experiment I forgot about - a moving clone picture using nothing more than ImageReady and my trusty webcam (and the video capture software etc etc). There's meant to be a pause when the me reading "The Food of Love", the soppy love novel, turns to the me holding up a sign who appears to also be engrossed in the book, but is in fact calling him "teh ghey".
