View Full Version : I've Just Had a Revelation... [Breakfast Cereals]

Morning all,

I awoke several minutes ago with feelings of joy and contentment with the world*.
After showering and getting dressed (sometimes i forget theses things) i headed downstairs to get some fuel.

I chose to opt for cereal today, as opposed to toast, porridge or another type of morning nourishment.

I have recently been enjoying a nostalgic cereal. One that i used to eat a lot as a wee nipper, and I reached instinctively for that box. It was at this point that I saw it.

What was formally Hunny Nut Loops is now just
Hunny Loops

Where did the nuts go? I looked on the ingredients and there’s no mention of nuts at all!
Please help!

There are quite a lot of people who are allergic to nuts and therefore some breakfast cereals probably have taken them out to reduce the amount of people who go "nuts? in a breakfast cereal? I'm not having that". That's a possibility, but I remember the theme tune.

"Honey Nut Loops let's Loop Together. Honey Nut LOOPS" :D

I'm sure that honey nut loops never actually contained nuts originally, incorporating the word "nut" into the name so that it rolled off your tounge. If they ever contained nuts it's likely trading standards interfered to fix the lies on the box.

That's what I thought anyway, since I also started eatign them again, had a bowl this morning in fact. I think I am right, since I would never have eaten them if they did contain nuts so I must have checked when I was younger.

Even cybercandy.co.uk has run out of £5.99 boxes of Lucky Charms. :(

I personally found Lucky himself a little scary, but I do miss the yellow moons and other marshmellow goodness.

Did anyone get the colour changing Lucky mug?

No, but my friend had it and I wanted it. I conspired to steal it but I never worked up the courage to go through with it :nana:

Lucky charms were fucking brilliant. Damn you to hell for axing them, Nestle.

And i'm pretty sure that Honey Nut loops never actually had nuts in them.

I went to America this summer.

I discovered something better than Lucky Charms.

Chocolate Lucky Charms.

That's right people, Lucky Charms, but with the boring bits gone chocolatey.

The Messiah has arrived, offering a breakfast time treat of Godlike luxury as his gift to the humans who reside in the US ¬_¬

about the name changing bit- coco pops did this TWICE! then they got complaints and let the public vote on it.
I have never tried lucky charms- but there was a pokemon ceareal (limited edition) that sounded just like them.. i want to try some

Not even chocolate Lucky Charms can compare to Count Chocula.

And since when did you guys not have lucky charms? They've always been around over here.

Urgh, not pokemon. Anything other than the games has been ruined by random pr0n surfing.
I ain't even old enough to get nostalgic, :nana:

I think I’m going to write to nestle (I think its them) about the name change. Find out some of the finer details.

I'm assuming, like moovok said, the change was because the cereal never had any nuts in anyway, and in the allergy swapped world we live in today (Thatcher's Britain :ninja: ) they though it would make more marketing sense.

This will be my new pet project :)

You NEED sugar for breakfast.
I'd sleep all day if i didn't get my morning sugar fix.

meh. breakfast cereal was not meant to be turned into candy...

there's a reason it's called the Most Important Meal of the Day. Starting it off with poor nutritional value just can't be good.

Not that anything I say has any weight whatsoever. I've seen the tv specials on what kids eat on a regular basis... some of it is downright scary. :p
