I like it, but it is slightly overrun (not the right word really, but meh) by all the popular people on there who get loads of favourites no matter what.

Its pretty good, subscribing is great for serious artists, but for people like me who just want a place to post their amateur art, just being an ordinary member is perfect. I used to do fanart there, which was pretty bad, but things are looking up with the digital photography. The best bit is that any of its several dozen thousand members can see your deviation on a page somwhere, and take time to do a full view and comment. It fills me with a warm sense of happiness.

I like deviantART. You dont have to be in a bunch of clubs to get comments. You make friends on dA slowly by being a good guy and soon enough you'll have a bunch :)

Deviantart...

It's hard to find things and still seems to me to be complicated. Everything on it now seems to be a crêppy photo of a tree or some Anime pr0n made on paint, a photo of a teen standing there doing jackshit, or something that on preview says "OmG tEh CliCK0r mEEe!!!1!1"!£2&25!!4bigbird".

The forums smell as well, but apart from that is fantastic...

Yeah, it does seem to be filling up with crap, you really have to look to find the good stuff.

And the forums do suck. All the replies/comments are on one page, so when you get like 100+ it slows down a lot.

It goes the same on dA. When you have as much as users ase a small country you have to expect a big procent of it to be....shit.

A deviation is in average submited every 3 seconds. A good deviation is submited every 15 minutes.

But besides a ton of crap...its lovely :)

But because of the hugeness, there will nearly always be somebody who likes your sort of art. The problem is finding them.

Like everything you have to sift through the shit, but it's a very good way to get exposure, and it's just nice to know your work, whatever it is, isn't just being kept to yourself and is out there.

I think it's pretty cool, but unless you're in a bunch of clubs, have a ton of DA friends or are a professional artist, it's pretty impossible to get lots of comments.

I remember I cussed up someones work for "looking like was taken on a mobile phone". It was terrible. That amazes me each day again. People love crap. Like a animation of a 20 frame dancing gnome gets to the front page and gets like 300+ favs. I do an animation for one month, and it only got 280 favs or something like that.

But words are a waste over there, its just how it is...

It all depends on who you ask... It is to me, because that's what I mainly do when I don't have my camera available to upload pics... THerefore, I think that that's a lot.

DA is a cool collective if you wanna be creative, but i have noticed a lot of people supporting the cause of anthropomorphism..

eh...

..people pretending their furry animals and bunnies. Not that im against it, kinda kinky in some ways ;)

there is a lot of controversy at the mo regarding the owners of the DA community, namely Jark who was removed from his position involuntarilly, don't know how that will effect the future of DA.

As for 3 second dancing knomes, they belong on newgrounds!

Yet ANOTHER cartoon featuring Eevees/furries kissing with some shitty japanese music playing.

Actually, thats one of the reason I've stopped caring for deviantart. It's all anime now. Every painting drawing or sketch MUST be anime (aka KEKEKEKEKE KAWAIIII) for anyone to notice.

Just look at the daily faves.

Deviant Art is slowly becoming a second Newgrounds.

It wont be long until we have shit like Foamy the Squirrel all over it making goth kids jizz themselves over shoddy animation and stolen jokes.

And I hardly ever look at front page stuffs. It's always the same few artists in there (looking at you messa, HOON, and a bunch of others I can't remember now). HOON's actually quite good though, but I got bored of messa after a while.

There's even been some mediocre stuff in the Daily Deviations bit in recent weeks.

When I can be bothered I might put links to people I watch who don't get front page stuffs (at least not that I've noticed).
