Just interested to know, where would you all like to live, if you had the choice from anywhere?

I'm not sure if I should limit this topic to existant places because I have the suspicion that if i don't someone is going to say they want to live on endor with the ewoks.

Well, no matter. Choose from places in books, movies, games or real life (that's the area outside the computer screen  )

Personally I would love to live in Tokyo or Paris. Tokyo because it is such an advanced place, it's occupants have the longest life expectancy of any city dwellers and it has the lowest crime-rate; and Paris possibly due to watching the movie Amelie too many times... and it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world

End ramblings.

I think it'd be cool to kinda just wander from place to place, meeting people and getting odd jobs. It'd probably suck really, but it's a nice idea.

As for somewhere to actually live that really exists, Italy might be cool. You get pizzas, better weather than here in England, and that's about it I think :p

Well, I'm in South Wales, I'd love to live in the Cardiff Bay area. As it stands, I'm about to move to Reading.

I wouldn't mind living in a city for a while, such as Washington DC, Tokyo, Melbourne... or even somewhere like Sarajevo or Athens.

I'm (hopefully) moving to Toronto in a couple months, which will be one dream. (I've got to get out of where I live.) It's going to stall my plans of moving to England (other dream) but, it'll be better, I hope. I'm soo sick of stupid Fredericton.

I couldn't name one place in the world I'd want to live most, but definately in different areas. In the US I'd like Boston on the east coast and San Diego on the West Coast (or maybe Seattle). In Europe I'd most like to live in Florence.

I think sometime when I'm in my twenties I'm going to have to go to Portugal and start moving East, experiencing Europe from the inside, and not from a tour bus. Spend a little bit of time everywhere.

Tokyo for me. Because of the awesome stuff they have, because Japanese people are nice, because all the games get released there, because of the huge quantities of anime related stuff, and because of the hordes of cute japanese schoolgirls :jizz:

Oh, and I definetely wouldn't like to be living in New Orleans, right now:(

New York City - I had always loved seeing it in films, seeing it on television. In 2002 I finally took the chance and spent 2 weeks there on my own and it was absolutely fantastic. I enjoyed walking in Time Square, visiting stores, basically enjoying that experience and going everywhere and even having a helicopter ride. It's my perfect home, one day in which I hope I'll be able to live in before I die. It's perfect and I really would like to live there right now.

I'd like to live.. well.. exactly where I am right now. Too bad I'm moving tomorrow.

Germany is just comfortable. It's pretty and serene. I don't like places with lots of concrete and buildings. There are pretty houses out here, and lots of farm land and trees. The streets are clean (I've seen old women go out really early in the morning and sweep their sidewalks) and safe, and the weather is comfortable.

Second to that, I don't know. Probably somewhere in Europe, cause I like it here.

Edit: Oh yeah. I'd also like to live in Xanth. I'm positive I have a cool magical talent, I just don't know what it is yet.

Maybe Rome, but you would have to have an armed guard if you didnt want to be pickpocketed. Sly buggers out in Rome.

living in newcastle for 13 years has put me off living in any settlement larger than a village, and my favourite place to live would be the village of Rothbury, it's about an hours drive north of newcastle, has about 2000 people, and is in the middle of nowhere. a large amount of my friends live there, so i stay there as often as I can. It has a nice unpoluted river, woodland, moorland and as far as I know, it doesn't have any fast food places.

Where I live right now (Hobart, Tasmania) is quite nice, there's not many places I'd rather live.

But my ideal home would be somewhere in the Italian countryside, where it's warm all year round and overweight men with oddly shaped moustaches can cook me pizza and pasta all day long :yumyum:

In a remote mountain range with no peoples, but lots of weird and wonderful animals. Then I could live out a peaceful nomadic life. Only coming into civilisation when I ran out of milk, or needed a new slap of butter. Perhaps ultimately I could milk a goat, and also make cheese from it, meaning I could limit my excursions into civilisation to just bread. And a bottle of lucozade. I may also have to periodically buy a new sleeping bag (if the weather’s cold) because the mice might eat through it, and that would suck. One other thing I would need is a tent; at least initially, until I had gotten used to the climate and the idea of sleeping outside. Perhaps eventually I’ll learn to converse with the animals.

Failing this, Spain would be nice.

Right now I live in London, I think the likelihood of me going to live anywhere else is quite small.
My ideal place to live would be in Thailand, It's so cheap so you can have a really modern house. I also love the place and it is great for food.

Paris for me too. Not because of amelie (because of Amelie), but more because I want to learn the language better, and it's a damn nice place to be if you've seen all the tourist stuff. Other than that, wouldn't mind spending a fair length of time in Seville, because it's sodding cheap. Get a beer there, in most places it's about 95p :D.

I don't think I'd like to live in Japan though. They have really restricting etiquette rules, and the only (ot the main one) reason their life expectancy is high, btw, is because they have a high fish diet, so if you didn't eat that then you'd still have the same as most other places.

I really think a hippy commune somewhere warm, living in an environmentally friendly fashion would suit me. I want to have a smallholding where I can grow fruit and vegetables and keep chickens and rabbits. With internet access to the rest of the world...

Of course the reality is that probably doesn't exist and even if it did - it wouldn't be the ideal existance I think it would...

So, right now, right here suits me - happiness is internal, not external!

I'd live in Holland. I've been a few times on holiday and its a really nice place and the people are friendly to. It's also good for keeping fit as there are great cycle paths, not like the ones in England.

In Britain, I have a big pull towards the Lake District after much drooling on the train window as I have passed through.

On a fantasy scale, Tuvalu is definitely way up there. End of the world, baby!

And if I was going to choose a city from the ones I've seen I would choose Barcelona, because of the feeling of colour and life.

And I really must do some work now.

Edit: From a film I would choose Tokyo and try and find the hotel where Bill Murray met Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation.

Work.

I think that where i live now is the most beautiful city in the world. There are cca 300000 people here. The centre is old, there are musicians on every step. Jazz, rock, surf rock....the city is alive.

I live in a suburban area in 5 floor buildings. It's a new part of town...lots of children, a very nice place to live. Wouldnt change it for the world and also i have everything near. The centre is 15 minutes away, so is my school(with walking both).

Oh, i live in Ljubljana. The capital of Slovenia :)

And it's Canada, which I intend to move to anyway, because I'm getting annoyed with the UK.

I wanna live in the land of the ice and snow,
>from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green,
Can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war.
We are your overlords.
On we sweep with threshing oar,
Our only goal will be the western shore.
So now you’d better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day
Despite of all your losing.

I'd like to live in an underground bunker underneath Japan. I can surface to see the nice people/get the latest games and I can live my life as a semi-hermit.
But, basically, gimme a really fast connection and an UBERcomputer and I'm happy wherever I am, including a secret moon base.

I live in london now and I love it, im definately a city girl I think.
The czech (ok, did i spell that right?) republic is ACE, I went there last summer, to bohemia which was beautiful and peaceful and cheap and prague which was beautiful and slightly less peaceful and cheap.
When im older im going to travel vereywhere and do everything, end of, im much to indecisive to decide on the one place!

I would quite like to live in Hong Kong, preferably on the Peak. Quiet mountain side and a buzzing city right below you, perfect.

Failing that I wouldn't mind moving down into Brighton. Brilliant city and I wouldn't have to move away form all my friends :)

I'd like to live in Las Vegas, or just outside Vegas so you get the best of both worlds: suburb life, and gambling craziness!

If it is freed from chinese occupation, I'd like to live in Tibet and meet the Dalai Lama.

If it is recognised as an offcially independent country I'd like to live in Transnistria, just for novelty value.

i like where i am.

multicultural doesn't even begin to describe it. and that's a really cool thing.

as for other places, i'd like to live in any of several differing locations:
- montreal
- on the beach on maui or other hawaiian islands
- england (quite possible; i'm looking now to see what careers are like there in my profession)
- Boston, Mass. or the surrounding less-urban cities (i.e. Andover)

Cap'n, you are gaining a stereotypical outlook on Canada. We do ahve a very diverse country, and if you want to see the world on a budget, your best bet is to come here, but the thing about a country is that it shouldn't be diverse, it should be unified. If times start getting tough, our country will likely be screwed by all of our cultural standpoints, regardless of our friendliness. Canada is more unstable than what most would think.

Anyhoo, I think if I could live anywhere, I would live in an abandoned missle silo, very roomy, can survive basically any type of holocaust, and they are generally dug in nice looking areas.
