I saw this in the warehouse at the supermarket I work at today

The first big shipment of christmas goodies is going to come in tomorrow and it will all be on the shelvs before the end of the week. Christmas isn't for over 3 and a half months, yet it already seems to be here.
My manager told me that the plan is to have our stuff out before Tesco, who are going to have theirs out by the end of the month. but thats still far too early, it's still the middle of summer! (or at least it felt like it today) At this rate I'm expecting to see easter eggs arriving in November :rolleyes:

I work opposite a Clintons and they were sticking out the 2006 calanders today and they also told me that their christmas stuffs were lying in wait.

Does anyone actually buy this stuff in September? We usually only get advent calenders on the last day of November and the Christmas tree a day or two before Christmas Eve.
I'm guessing shops wouldn't do it this ridiculously early unless they got a fair amount of custom from it.
They always release calendars in September!

I had to clear all of the garden funiture stock out of the sesonal layflat at B&Q to make room for Xmas trees to go up for october.

Selfridges already had its Christmas paraphernalia on display at the end of August. I actually exclaimed "What the fuck?!" loudly upon entering, within earshot of sales assistants who probably agree with us lot that WTF AUGUST IS NOT DECEMBER N00BS, OMFG.

I can't believe that. It's usually October we get the Christmas hype happening. They get earlier each year, next year we'll be starting up Christmas stuff in January, though it's good to get Christmas stuff in the January sales :D hehe
This fucks me off. It makes christmas seem near when it's actually ages away.
And as others said, who the hell buys christmas stuff in september ffs?

You have to admit things get pretty crazy around Christmas at mall and such. You can't really blame them for trying to spread things out. If that was what they were doing, at least. They are simply trying to get people into the buying craze already, and it is shameful, like most things department stores do.
If only the Xbox 360 could come out in this version of 'Christmas season'...

What are you going to buy for halloweens though other then maybe costumes or candy? Christmas is just so great because people get stuff. Something to do with greed, I dunno.

last year the place I worked at had us putting up christmas tree's, lights, christmas toys the lot in august and september. and they always asked me to help because I <3 christmas.
there were soooooo many people coming in saying "its not christmas yet is it?" (hehe, oh so funny and original), there were just as many coming in getting our stuff though
the simple truth of it is, stock arrives for christmas, the shop only has so much room for stock, and more and more stock is arriving. they HAVE to put it out there at some point.

Well I can see the logic in that... however, there is a subtle difference between saving months early and buying months early, my friend!
Early Christmas sales are a load of bollocks though, because even if you're not religious (tut tut) it degrades the specialness of the holiday - instead of looking forward to a week or two of fun the shops make it "fun" for 5 months. Boo.

In my work *asda* we get all seasonal stuff 3 months before the acutal holiday. So that goes for easte, halloween etc also. Our Christmas stuffs are to be delivered in the week.
Im sure most other supermarkets are the same.

Anyhoo... I do like the christmas feel. I love going out and buying things for people and I truely do favour the giving to the recieving. However, starting the season 3 months early ruins it. *is sadded*

Get Used to the fact that shops are retarded and still havnt realised that xmas shopping is done by 90% of the population on christmas eve and no earlier therefore they should get things in around mid november and no earlier tho i was at work the other week around the 17th aug and we have started to recieve the january sale stock before the xmas stock which came in the next day very stupid
