I was wondering if san andreas was dissapointing because i just finished the game last night and my friend told me that the game was a let down but i think it is the best gta yet. Although when you get hungry it does annoy me.

What did you think of the game?

Well, I hired it when it was still legal to do so, and I was planning on buying it but now I can't. :( From what I played I liked it alot. I don't think it was a let down, based on what I saw.

I can't stand the GTA games anyway...needless killing and endless cheats make me :(

The only thing I really dislike is that it's hard to find stuff to do once you've completed all the missions and so on. Also, yes, it's a pain when he gets hungry, and some of the girlfriends are impossible to please. Other than that, it's all good really :)

I was let down by it. I think maybe it's because I played the previous ones on the consoles and this one on the PC so I found it hard driving around using keyboard and mouse insted of controller.

I disliked the whole SIMS part of it where you have to buy clothes, get a haircut, go to the gym, eat...blah blah blah boring. I simply wanted to drive around doing missions and causing havoc like in the previous games and I quickly got bored with the mundane stuff so gave it up.

I thought it was good to the end... suddenly ending up back in the grove with all the "the grove is for life, claim territories" stuff the second time round annoyed me. Up till then it was great fun.

if you take over all the gang territory at the end of the missions does that mean no other gangs will try and take it back?

if you take over all the gang territory at the end of the missions does that mean no other gangs will try and take it back?As far as I know, yes. Be careful though, there's a tiny yellow bit in north Los Santos that's damn near impossible to spot on the map. I only knew it was there because a particular bit of territory kept getting attacked.

I disliked the whole SIMS part of it where you have to buy clothes, get a haircut, go to the gym, eat...blah blah blah boring. When I did it I only did a couple of visits to the gym, then his muscle and stamina kept going up whether I was at the gym or not. You don't actually have to go to the gym, you can get exercise from just running around. It just happens faster in the gym.

I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference whether or not you buy clothes too. The only effects I know of are your gang gives you respect for wearing gang colours, and designer stuff makes you more attractive to girls I think.

I agree it was the best. I think it will always be criticised because once you take a series so far it will always be criticised. 3 is after all a magic number, the 3rd of a series tends to be degraded before its even around. I just think the places were better, characters were wider, you were more involved and most of all, casinos rock! :p

I think San Andreas was indeed the best. I'm obsessed with dressing CJ up :p
I even wrote a little .doc about how to dress him up, being the rather fashionable person that I am ^_^

No unfortunately it doesn't. I thought this all the way through the game and got pissed off at the end when I was called into wars every 10 mins.

In other less intresting news...

I thought San Andreas more than lived up to expectations.

Like I said, there's one yellow bit that is extremely hard to find, it's not even included in the territory counter in the menu.

As for fashion, my CJ is dressed in a nice red suit and hat from Didier Sachs :D

I think GTA is spoiled by missions. It would be much better if it was just You vs. an entire state of america. And you could go where you please, when you please.

And you could go where you please, when you please.Yeah, perhaps they could have put in a 'classic' mode or something. It'd just be like the old GTAs where you just had to score a certain amount to pass a level, and the missions were optional.

I'm absolutely positive I have all the territory. I think there are too many gang wars.

In fashion news...

Weird, me and a friend were just talking about this last night, apparently he was about 100 points away from finishing the last city in the first game and got run over by one of those cars that come out of nowhere at 100mph as soon as you go onto the street. :)

I played all the GTA games up to Vice City, and tried to play the game 'properly' in all of them, but always got bored of missions really quickly and just pissed about taunting the police and doing stunts. I decided I'd give San Andreas a miss given that I'd just revert to jumping off stuff with bikes after a while, and that's just silly. I'd definitely be more interested if you could progress purely by getting points without having to do any missions.

I'm pretty fed up of the whole crime & violence thing now as well. I think there comes a point when you've killed so many hookers you just can't take pleasure in it any more, and that is a sad day indeed. I, for one, will not be buying RAPE BITCH MURDER STREET (http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/2005/07/playstation-3-launch-games-confirmed.html).

I love San Andreas, I've been playing it on my PS2 for weeks. Much better than any of the other GTA games, much more depth.

I'm buying it for the PC soon, I want the higher resolution graphics and the ability to aim with my mouse! I like the PS2 controllers for driving but HATE them for aiming weapons.

GTA 3, will always be the best in my opinion.

Vice city was abit too camp for me.

Great game, but the graphics were shite. Animation in cutscenes were cool, as was the cutscenes in the beginning of the game (felt like you were watching a real movie) until it got to the point of homies-flying-harriers and other unrealistic stuff.

Preferred vice city myself, cant quite put my finger on it but there was just something about it. San Andreas was good and def worth the time and money but there just some little niggles, like the fact that you can only go in about 3 casinos and driving around the countryside during the countryside missions is booooring.

edit:

RAPE BITCH MURDER STREET (http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/2005/07/playstation-3-launch-games-confirmed.html).

I can't deny that they're not the best, but there's a hell of a lot of environments and vehicles and pedestrians and so on, and with that much stuff going on you can't expect dazzling graphics.

I prefer doing the missions because afterwards i get bored quite easily and then stop playing for a while. I prefer doin the missions in GTA 1

I loved SA. i got it for the pc and enjoyed every last bit of it. Flying harriers over the army base and getting chased by other planes is fun, you have to admit.

Also you got to admire the amount of work that was put into this game. The large variety of cars, the vast country side, the huge citys, and all the sounds you here while running around. Rockstar really made a BIG game.

The only thing that aggrivated me with SA was the awfully boring flying lessons. After those, i lost intrest on the missions.

That and some of the later missions, you have to drive ridiculously far at points.

Looking foward to Liberty Stories though. GTA on the bus for the win.

The only thing that annoyed me about SA was I couldn't make CJ look like Mr. T(not completely anyway. I could ge the jenans, the hairdo, but only one chain.

Apart from this it was a brilliant game. All this talk of graphics made me think...how cool would a HL2 San Andreas map be?

VERY!!!!

The only part that semi annoyed me was the flight school missions, besises that I loved it. I didn't play it on the console (I have onlyed played GTA3 on the console, I own 3,VC, and SA on PC only) so I cannot attest to the graphics there. But on the pc the graphics are great for the scale of the game. Also the PC game has the upside of MTA, Mods, new cars, etc etc that can add a lot of replay value. Here is my pro-con list:

Pros:
Character Customization
Off-Road/Country areas outside the cities
Huge Scale and Terrain Diversity
Liberty City Trip
Vehicle Customization/Vehicle Selection
Weapon Selection
Gang Terriortys (was annoying at time I admit)

Cons:
=Feels more life like, but you really can't get immersed in it. I would like to see more suburb areas etc that are closer to real life. The big popular cities are fine for a season, but seeing it based in maybe a larger number of smaller cities with suburbs would be nice. And also the layout of the country side on the map. It would have been better if the cities were aligned down the coast with the country side inbetween.
=Too Short
=No actual liberty city, great concept but they could have went further.

I did get annoyed by how far you have to drive on some missions and with how boring the countryside can get but the rest of it was just brilliant. The graphics are obviously not going to be very good because of how much stuff they put in the game.

what do you mean how much they put in it?

i've never played GTA so im just curious.

Half life 2 was HUGE but it had the best graphics i've seen so far.

Very very good game in my opinion, finished it 100%.

The games size and varitys is just amazing. One thing that I would suggest would be replay value, once you've compleated the main missions the game begins to lack its greatness that it deserves.

I would suggest a mission genorator, when you could design and play your own custom missions

I would suggest a mission genorator, when you could design and play your own custom missionsNot sure about that, but I have thought it would be good if you could replay any mission you wanted after completing the storyline.

The two player mode is quite good, if no-one's tried that. For best results start fighting your friend in the middle of a road. My weapon of choice is the katana.

Once I was trying to run my friend over in a car, and he was throwing grenades at me. I drove at him and he jumped over the car (we had the jump x10 cheat on) and landed on the grenade he'd just thrown at me before jumping. Oh how I laughed :D

It dissapointed me with all the swearing , You don't need every cutscene sprinkled with profanities to sell a game. but the rest of the game was good. more vehicles would be better though.

And how could you possibly need more vehicles? There must be at least a hundred.

I think you must have missed a piece, they have stopped for me. Bear in mind theres a tiny strip of Ballas territory and a small square of Vagos territory. The strip is easy to miss. Its up in temple or vinewood or that kind of area.

I made a little map thing showing the approximate locations of the small, hard to spot territories. I did it from memory, so it could be wrong. I'm pretty sure I got the general area right though.

EDIT- I did get it wrong.

If they're still not exactly right, then the one on the left is definitely on that side of that road somewhere, and the one on the right is definitely on that block (with the car park area).
