This is just a thread to see what people think of the new WWE game and what you think you will like about it. I think it will be great much better than the last game.

They can be pretty funny with your mates after a few beers. Breaking a table on a muscular mans face can be pretty satisfying.

Proof that video games provoke voilence in young people :p

Fun games, I used to play them a lot with my mates. Not really a fan of wrestling anymore so they've lost most of their appeal to me.

Dont like the TV programmes, but the games are ace, the only time you and 5 mates can legally smash eachother in the face with a sledgehammer, or throw them from a 30ft high cage

Not really been much of a wrestling fan - the only satisfaction I get out of WWE games is creating lookalikes of people or game characters. ^^

I don't like the shows but the game are alright, I suppose I will rent this first because in the last two or three you can get through story mode in one or two days.

Smackdown 2: Know Your Role! was the best in the game series because the stroy mode went on forever.

I'm sure you like many games that are far fetch but still I know what you mean.
I find that wrestling games barely hold my interest.

Yes - but games act as an escape from reality.
WWE is in the real world, and involves large muscular men covered in baby oil grappling with each other while wearing leotards. These men also take part in fake rivalry storylines and even start running each other over for the sake of an 'entertaining' storyline.

It's all shit - and makes you ponder about our entertainment culture.

Couldn't have put it better myself

I don't see what adults could find entertaining about watching people pretend to fight each other?

Yet more ignorant sods - all of you that read and agreed to the opinion that wrestling is "shit".

It takes some serious training and athleticism to become a professional wrestler. It also takes a lot of skill to do what they are doing and simply because there is "storyline" involved it is dismissed. It's equally as dramatic as soaps, yet nobody dismisses them as 'silly'.

Watch some New Japan Pro Wrestling or All Japan Pro Wrestling. No storylines, just strong athleticism.

Yes, but we're referring to american WWE wrestling - no strong athleticism, just grown sweaty men in leotards grappling each other.

just grown sweaty men in leotards grappling each other.

OR
Grown men who grease up before entering the 'ring'.

I love WWE games (though I don't like wrestling), the next could be better though, like they could make the CAW more realistic.

Mmm. You are so right.

Oh wait, you aren't. Kurt Angle is a genuine former Olympic medallist (1996, Atlanta) and he's one of the best in the business - where does he work? WWE. Look at Chris Benoit or Rey Mysterio, too. Rob Van Dam invented a legitimate weightlifting technique.

Japanese wrestling isn't necessarily more athletic, just doesn't have the storyline bits in it.

Stop talking about something you know nothing about please.

no strong athleticism

So falling 30 feet through a steel mesh, and smashing through the ring doesn't take any training at all, lifting a 300lb fully grown man above your head doesn't require any weight lifting experience?

We all know it's fake, but these people dedicate their lives to the rigorous training needed to entertain the millions of fans worldwide.

but this isn't Debates. So lets get back on topic.

I find the games interesting, and enjoyable for a certain while, i've recently got back to playing WWE SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain, as it was the last wrestling game i bought, and i still find it entertaining throwing people through the top of a Hell In a Cell. Yes, these games are mostly of novelty value, many people just get kicks out of inviting a few friends of over, having a drink, and beating the crap out of each other.

But isn't that what games are about?

I've just been watching the video of the 360 version (http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/820/820799/vids_1.html) and I'm quite impressed.
I used to play the games all the time when I was young but got bored of them after a while, if the PS3 version is good I think I'll probably rent it (that's if I don't get sent a free copy to review :p).

I have only just got around to getting this game, I was once a fan of the WWF but stoped watching at around the same time it became WWE, well when RAW and Smackdown split into diffrent shows (I even stayed loyal through the invasion crap).
Anyway back to the game ... I still get the games cos honestly there fun to play, granted I haven't a clue who anyone is anymore. Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 is a huge improvement on the past few and the season mode is great, however the stamina thing is rubbish.

also I'l still argue that wrestling is set up sure, but fake ?

I've just been watching a video of the 360 version and I must say i'm quite unimpressed. To me, the animation looks exactly the same as the the current Smackdown vs Raw 2006. Sure, i realise that the graphics have been improved, but from what I'm watching it looks like the same thing all over again, urgh.
